(etre) zooms in under the general header of experimental and the subhead of glitch but past that it kind of defies being nailed down. One track might be a burbling sound collage with snippets of vocal recordings restitched together with a variety of sound pieces. Another track might be a glitch-hound's paradise, a skittery-jittery hullaballoo of glitching in your ear. Yet another track might be a chilled soundscape with jazz structures but defiant of traditional music. (etre) slips hither and thither, avoiding capture, keeping the listener on alert, unsure what might spring out of the speakers next. Obviously, if you have no stomach for experimental or non-traditional song structure, then (etre) has little to offer you. But those who seek something different and can appreciate texture in its own right, then (etre) might be the next CD to buy. Regardless, (etre) does a fine job of crafting experimental gardens of sound and conveying a strange atmosphere of otherness.Want to hear it? Click here Need more info? Try an

Customer Reviews: On 2007-01-14 00:00:00, 'Don Poe, EAR/Rational Staff Reviewer' gave the following review: Glitchy goodness. I wouldn't call this glitch techno, though, as the energy here is more organic than techno. This is more in the realm of sticks getting pulled out of the rock wall that the ancient Anasazi people used to climb with, burning them and recording the sound of the electrical energy created from these valuable artifacts. As an idea, they list the person who made this as a composer, not an artist, so you get a sense that this is maybe more thought out and planned and less jam-style. This is a pretty cool release for those people that like experimental music and electronic music, it is a good combo of both. This kinda reminds me of a more cohesive Contagious Orgasm, a band from Japan that is a little bit more Musque Concrete, while this is more structured and not all over the place.
