The Cd "Deep" is a melodic foray into the emotional trials and tribulations that are at the root of our mortal existence. Saskia lives her life in a passionate way, and as a result is able to lyrically capture emotions and set them to music in a way that truly touches the heart. Having spent time around the globe, she is inspired by city lights, love lost and love won, lust, the essence of male and female, despair, and elation. She manages to touch on all of these emotions, yet leaves them digestible enough for the dancefloor. As a songwriter, she is a mistress of the melodic hook, carving out choruses that remain in the listeners' head for days afterward. Deep beats with a sultry woman signing. Makes me think of the Madonna album recorded with William Orbit. Driving electronica that is ahold of the reigns. It isn't relentless, instead it is tuned and toned to keep an interesting melody without overtaking her vocals. I am generally not a big fan of female vocals so I don't have a lot of points of reference for her voice, but it is strong and has an airiness that is interesting. This sounds overall kinda like Depeche Mode with a female singer in a style akin to David Gahan. Some tracks are fast, others are meditative and slower.
