Emulsion’s full-length debut CD brings together elements of 80’s electro, cutting-edge IDM, and bouncy melodies steeped in indie influences. Thanks to an NES-lit eighties childhood, Emulsion’s Nathan Koch never lost his obsession with the eight-bit aesthetic and its resulting digital artifacts - leading to his immersion in San Francisco's gaming industry, with a Game Boy planted firmly in his palm. Light and inobtrusive IDM. Techno for those days that you don't want the distortion and abrasive side of Aphex Twin. This is smooth, uncomplicated and clean with melodies that are hummable. Little electronic warbles do work their way into the sounds, adding a light spice to the delicate sounds. Some voice samples also add texture and interest to the music, these are handled subtly and blend into the sound. This could be the soundtrack to falling stars, hope and dreams. Looking at the credits, it is funny to see the artist claim this was recorded in various bedrooms over the course of a year.
