This is fascinating music. Very organic - piano and real instruments, but this is all overshadowed by the Lynchian hisses and little devices that find all the delicious nooks and crannies in this music. When I don't pay attention to this I feel like I am listening to music - the composition and styling is pleasing. But, when I actually pay close attention I hear all the odd sounds totally taking over and the musical feeling is muted. The songs have an old musty, spider web in the attic kind of feel. The thick dust on the gear works it's way into the sound in a very tangible manner. I wouldn't hazard a guess on what makes all these unique sounds, but it is complex and thought out - not just effects pedals but real gnomes working the gears.
