Spyra - January in June CD [PS08/118] $16.50
(IN STOCK)
Label: Fax Notify Me (What is this?)

This time Wolfram Spyra has created a unique sound-canvas consisting of acoustic, electronic, environmental and rock music. Meandering between powerful melancholic parts and masterfully elaborated progressive jazz-rock, this music is more than pure "head cinema". In a very emotional way, it is dedicated to the northeastern area of Europe... a journey of the mind to Poland and Budapest to the border of Russia... while tracing family roots is the foundation of this CD which is his most colorful release to date.

Customer Reviews:
On 2010-03-09 00:00:00, 'Uncle Jeff' gave the following review:
It's been a while since I checked in on Wolfram Spyra. His piano playing has always been superb, and the early FAX discs are all exellent compositional examples of playing outside the electronic box. The third track "Bytom" even features a dark stoner-metal groove worthy of Kashmir. Fans of the Grails should dig this. It's not your Dad's FAX disc. If dirty guitars and swirly organ with inventive beats, always with Spyra's beloved piano up-front, are your cup of tea, put the kettle on... The classic-rock structure of Genesis/ELP merge with Reich-ian patterns, very melodic and well played. This is an interesting direction.
