Steinski - What Does It All Mean? 1983-2006 Retrospective 2CD
(Illegal Art) [ILL016CD] $15.25
"This Illegal Art retrospective collects everything from his hip-hop
narrative about the Kennedy assassination (originally a white-label promo,
also issued as a flexi-disk for UK music magazine NME) to the 1998 remix of
Afrika Bambaataa's `Jazz' with Double Dee. Besides the completist archive,
the release will also includes the critically acclaimed `Nothing To Fear: A
Rough Mix,' an hour-long mashup that was produced for Solid Steel/BBC
London, described by Salon as, `the closest thing to a masterpiece the
genre has yet produced' and perhaps the most obvious precursor (along with
The Lessons) to Girl Talk's Night Ripper."

Accidental - There Were Wolves CD (Thrill Jockey) [THRILL199]
$13.25
RELEASE DATE: 06-03-2008
***Take the man behind THE MEMORY BAND and Trunk Records (StTEPHEN
CRACKNELL), the twisted songwriter from TUNNG main man (SAM GENDERS), one
half of Fence Collective duo THE BICYCLE THIEVES (HANNAH CAUGHLIN) and
singer-songwriter LIAM BAILEY. Put them in front of a PC and add occasional
input from guests including harpist SERAFINA STEER and ROB, JENNY & NANCY
from the Memory Band. The outcome is new collective THE ACCDENTAL and their
beguiling debut album There Were Wolves. The album was recorded in the
front room of Cracknell's flat using just a computer, a pair of
microphones, and the rampant imaginations of those involved. The finished
record is fittingly warm, personal and intimate, and less disguised in its
folkiness than either Cracknell or Genders's main projects. Within this,
new influences have crept in, such as Liam's soul and reggae edge and
Hannah's jazz-influenced vocals. The album also gave Cracknell (who handled
the programming) a chance to experiment with vocal and instrumental loops
and layers, inspired, in part, by Panda Bear and Animal Collective.
Adam Beyer - Fuse Presents Adam Beyer CD (Music Man) [MM032CD]
$16.00
RELEASE DATE: 06-10-2008
Joining the ranks of Dave Clarke, DJ Hell, Joris Voorn, Steve Bug,
Shinedoe
and Technasia, who have all been firm favorites at Belgium's illustrious
techno Mecca, Fuse, Adam Beyer now provides a mix showcasing where Sweden's
techno pioneer is currently at. Fusing a rhythmic and minimal mix
throughout its 22 tracks, Beyer splices tracks from Patrik Skoog, Joel
Mull, LEM, Mauro Picotto, Cari Lekebusch (Braincell), Kyle Geiger
(exclusive), Smith & Selway (exclusive), Schneider & Galluzzi, Paco Osuna,
Museum (exclusive), Mathew Jonson (exclusive) and more into an hypnotic
late-night tale.
Ariel Kalma - Le temps de moissons CD (Beta-Lactam Ring)
[09488] $16.25
First ed. of 500 copies packaged in a book bound CD . First time on CD
for
this classic prog album! This has been the first solo recording LP from
Ariel Kalma, recorded in 1975. After a long journey to India where he
learnt the basics of modal music and singing, Ariel was inspired by the
fusion of ancient and modern ways of playing music in the 70s with
saxophone, ethnic instruments, effects, electric instruments and electronic
filters. As making a record was expensive at that time, when the first
thousand records were pressed Ariel run out of money so he bought blank
sleeves and one by one, he drew the shape of his hand and numbered each LP.
This first pressing is now rare and sought after!
Another detail made this LP memorable because it had not been done before: Ariel convinced the pressing engineer to loop the groove at the end of side 2 - thus creating an endless loop - and although it was casually mentioned on the cover, it caused surprises sometimes by sending listeners into trance. or on some occasions burning the motor of their turntable after endless hours! On this CD, Ariel included a loop of several minutes only, because the LP loop had an audio advantage: as time passed the sound of the loop changed because the diamond eroded the groove.
To the 3 compositions originally on the LP have been added 2 other ones from that period of time. Note from Ariel : Saxophone is powerful. It has raw sounds that are often filtered, polished for easier listening. I like to let my saxophone sing and when I play, I hear high-pitched, teasing sounds that I like so much. they titillate my senses. If it is too sharp for your ears, adjust your EQ till you are comfortable.
Note d'Ariel: le
saxophone est puissant. Il a des sons crus qui sont souvent
filtrés, polis
pour une écoute plus aisée. Dans cet album,
j'aime laisser mon saxophone
chanter, et lorsque je joue j'entend des sons aigüs,
provoquant, et je les
aime beaucoup. ils titillents mes sens. Si c'est trop acide pour vos
oreilles, réglez votre équalisation jusque ce
que vous soyez confortable.
Ashtray Boy featuring Liz Phair - The Honeymoon Suite CD (Scout
Releases) [09539] $7.00

Beasts of Paradise - Nobody Knew The Time CD (City of Tribes
Communications) [09550] $0.00
Picture five musicians shadow dancing on a butterfly's wings, and
you'll
begin to understand the fragile grace of San Francisco's Beasts of
Paradise. Eda Maxym's vocal incantations oscillate far above the earth,
even as the multitude of instruments used to make the music flutter and
spin span its far reaches. At the center are Nancy Kaspar's double bass,
Geoffrey Gordon's exotic array of percussion and Stephen Kent's
didgeridoo-though it's not as prominent as with his other outfit, Trance
Mission. Combined, they create enough gravitational pull to balance Maxym's
drifting vocals and Barbara Imhoff's feathery harp. The title track of the
five-song debut is a mix of atypical rhythms, with both Middle Eastern and
Indian lilts. Aside from the harp and didgeridoo, the record's
instrumentation includes dumbek, Zambian drums and world music master Jai
Uttal's dotar. Kenneth Newby, a percussionist in Trance Mission, shows off
his exotic throat singing. Despite the loose arrangement, "Nobody Knew the
Time" is the most grounded of the tracks, and the best vehicle for Maxym's
wafting vocals. Both "Falling" and "Limehouse Chambers," which employs a
toy piano and one-string rebab, are as ephemeral as tide pool in the
Sahara. But Maxym's introspective presence keeps the songs from evaporating
completely. Buzzcocks fans may balk at harps taking the place of electric
guitar on a cover of "Why Can't I Touch It," but Maxym makes the question
her own.
Bellafea - Cavalcade CD ( Southern) [281452] $13.75
BELLAFEA call Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The rich, independent music
history and their subsequent Southern upbringing play obvious roles in
structuring their individuality. Bellafea teems with the punk spirit of
local townies Superchunk, while the trialing dissonance of Polvo shine
through in their string parts. There is an earnest aggression in their
music, perhaps channeled from their struggles with the vastly conservative
Southeastern United States--the patriarchal, Bible-belt countryside where
they grew up. There is resistance, and there is also a secular nod to their
heritage and its inevitable and inspiring impact on their songwriting.
Beyond Sensory Experience - No Lights in Our Eyes CD (Cold Meat
Industry) [09554] $15.50
After months of long Nordic nights, intense recording sessions and
creative
outbursts Beyond Sensory Experience release No Lights In Our Eyes on which
they further develop their characteristic and much commended sound. The
examination of life that began on Pursuit Of Pleasure and The Dull Routine
Of Existence advances and now focuses on death and the subconscious sides
of life. Musically, No Lights In Our Eyes ranges from coldest minimalism to
the darkest orchestral eruptions, becoming an addictive stimulus for your
inward eyes. Expect first class dark atmospheres with a distinctive BSE
twist!
Centro-matic + South San Gabriel - Dual Hawks 2CD (Misra)
[MSR048] $13.25
Keeping track of the distinctions between CENTRO-MATIC and SOUTH SAN
GABIREL could be a full-time effort, if one were so inclined. Based in
Denton, Texas, Centro-matic once titled an album South San Gabriel
Songs/Music, only to give a splinter faction of the participating
musicians--meaning Centro-matic and more friends--the name South San
Gabriel and release that album in Europe under the new band name. South San
Gabriel includes the four core members of Centro-matic, plus additional
members, but we'll get to that shortly. You might be inclined to say that
Centro-matic material tends to be more rockin', with SSG its mellow,
literary counterpart, and WILL JOHNSON's solo material as skinny-dipping in
the abyss--but it would be a gross oversimplification. Each of these
projects shares all of the aforementioned respective qualities and more.
What is distinctive about the release of Dual Hawks is that we get the
chance to hear side-by-side the various ways in which Centro-matic and
South San Gabriel complement and play off of each other--sort of the
full-length equivalent of a split single.
Coastal Guard - Coastal Guard CD3 (Scout Releases) [09535]
$4.75
3"CD, limited to 100 copies only. Not a CDr, but a factory pressed
release.
Dan
Nelson - All Known Metal Bands Book (McSweeney's) [978-1-932416-92-3]
$17.75
This handsomely packaged hardbound volume contains the names of over
fifty
thousand metal bands. If one presumes that each of these bands had an
average of four members, and multiplies that by the bands, one might figure
that at least a quarter of a million humans have pledged allegiance to one
of these groups of wandering beasts. Never has a music relegated to the
underground of a civilization had so many devotees; no radio need transmit
the power of this music, for it is sought fiercely and freely by the doomed
and the dispossessed, whose ears are never touched by songs of love and
weakness.
David Abir/Ashley Wales - Movement A, Study 33/Landscape CD
(Sulfur) [09524] $10.75
Britain's Sulphur label straddles a number of musical lines, dabbling
in
everything from abstract beats, dubwise electronica, and acid jazz to
experimental art music and twisted drum'n'bass. This compilation draws
largely on the label's Parallel Meld series, which throws different artists
together with the assignment of collaborating on an album; most of the
material here comes from albums that already feature in the Sulphur
catalog, but several tracks are previously unreleased. The resulting
program is an interesting mix of the funky, the abstract, and the
soothingly ambient, and includes everything from Sukyaneer's vaguely
reggae-flavored "Dub Treatment Koto" to Future Pilot A.K.A. and Kim
Fowley's neo-psychedelic "Night Flight to Memphis." Highlights include
"Guanxi," a restrained mixture of pizzicato strings and beatbox rhythms
dubbed up by Scanner and DJ Spooky, and the very funky "Mirror Image,"
which features exquisite turntablism from Dstar. If you're looking for
something simultaneously adventurous and relaxing, this comp was made to
order. ~ Rick Anderson, All Music Guide
Dino Felipe - No Fun Demo CD (No Fun Productions) [NFP31]
$12.25
RELEASE DATE: 06-16-2008
Previously know for his electronic work with Miami's Schematic label
and
his experimental records on his own and with others: Old Bombs, Fukktron,
etc. This time Dino stares right at the ghost of his MTV dreams childhood
years and comes out of it with the most beautiful record of well put
together songs you'll hear this year. A full instrumented record of pop
rock, ballads, psychedelia, no-wave, rock noise and total mutations
injected with Dino's own unique approach. This is the pop music of the
present, and a recording shooting to change the future.
Eleanoora Rosenholm - Vainajan Muotokuva CD (Fonal) [FR054CD]
$16.00
This is the debut full-length by Eleanoora Rosenholm. Eleanoora
Rosenholm
comes from Pori, Finland and is a project began by Noora Tommila, Pasi
Salmi and Mika Rättö. They crafted a genius pop album with
murderous lyrics
inside the dark stone walls that surround SS-Palace studio. The time came
to take the show on the road and the band evolved into a full 8-piece.
Weird, almost avant synth-pop harmonies with creepily-sweet Finnish vocals,
sometimes vocoded.
Errors - It's Not Something But It Is Like CD (Rock Action
Records) [ROCKACT036CD] $17.75
No description available at this time.
Es
- Sateenkaarisuudelma 2CD (Fonal) [FR052CD] $19.75
Originally released as a 2LP by the (K-RAA-K)? label in 2005,
Sateenkaarisuudelma is Fonal label-head Sami
Sänpäkkilä's fourth solo album
under the name Es. The 2CD release is a trilogy containing three
independent parts: "Sateenkaarisuudelma," "Maailmankaari" and "Pianokaari."
Sateenkaarisuudelma was conceived from live songs performed on tour with
Black Forest/Black Sea's Miriam Goldberg on cello, Jeffrey Alexander on
guitar and effects, and Fursaxa's Tara Burke on vocals and keyboard.
Fricara Pacchu - Stories of the Old Book (Fonal) [FR051EP]
$16.00
Includes a 7" vinyl and a 40-page full-color book.
Gang - Zero Hits CD (Absolutely Kosher) [AK080] $12.75
Simply put, Brooklyn's GANG just loves doing what they do, which is
playing
music for people. Just trying to lend form to a feeling. Making a
contribution. For fans of The Go Team, Mission Of Burma, Fugazi, Le Savy
Fav.
Ghost Buffalo - Magician CD (Suburban Home) [SH68] $9.50
The follow-up to GHOST BUFFALO's self-titled debut album on Suburban
Home.
In the years since their first album, the band has undergone a
metamorphosis. The band has experienced a marriage, lineup changes, tour
troubles, a musical evolution and are now stronger than ever. Their sound
is heavier and more technical while somehow retaining the beauty that
makes
them Ghost Buffalo. MARIE's vocals have never sounded better and MATT
BELLINGER shows no restraint with his guitar. Newcomers JED and BEN are no
slouches either as the band has never sounded better. The direction of the
band makes it even harder to associate them with other bands (including
PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS). Reference points might include 27, Denali, and
Discount. Recorded by BOB FERBRACHE at Absinthe in Denver.
Graham Hood - Empty Pocket Blues - The Life & Music of Clive
Palmer Book (Helter Skeleter) [HSPALMER] $25.75
"Empty Pocket Blues is the biography of Clive Palmer, a beatnik banjo
player who began playing skiffle, jazz and folk in 1950s London, honed his
skills by busking in Paris and then moved to Scotland (influencing the
young Billy Connolly, among many others) to co-found the legendary
Incredible String Band." 224 pages. P/b. Full colour cover, b/w
illustrations throughout.
Grouper - Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill CD (Type) [TYPE038CD]
$14.00
RELEASE DATE: 06-10-2008
This is the third full-length release for Portland, Oregon-based Liz
Harris. Harris might have achieved a significant fan base thanks to the
whispering, near-ambient vocal crusades of her debut album Way Their Crept
and its follow-up Wide, but those with a careful ear would have heard
slightly more trapped beneath her fuzzy chain of effects. Dragging A Dead
Deer Up A Hill marks a departure of sorts for Liz, which sees her turn
down
the fuzz boxes which caged (and to some degree defined) her sound and
allows her voice to ring out above everything else. It is an album steeped
in the world of dream-pop - a genre pioneered by the likes of Cocteau
Twins
and This Mortal Coil - and far from shying away from the reference, Liz
has
instead grabbed on with both hands, creating an album's worth of perfect,
left-field pop songs.
Janek Schaefer - Extended Play (Triptych for the child
survivors of war and conflict) CD (Line) [LINE036] $12.25
RELEASE DATE: 06-09-2008
LIMITED EDITION 600. LINE is proud to release the latest audio work
from
British composer and installation artist Janek Schaefer based on his
installation of the same title. Installation Reviews: "a piece to return
to
again and again... haunting and lulling" [The Wire, UK] "so inspirational,
and in many ways very spiritual" [Gerry Turvey] "I was so deeply touched
by
your piece" [Mandeep Kaur Samra] Red is the colour of Life, of Death, and
of Love. Scarlett, my first child, was born in 2005, and since then I have
been very aware of how lucky we all are. have been constantly comparing
this to the fact that my mother was born in Warsaw in 1942 - the epicenter
of World War II. How opposite can two beginnings be? This inspired me to
produce the Extended Play installation, which continuously and positively
celebrates hope and new beginnings, for child survivors in all situations
around the world. The original idea for the composition, came from
learning
about the 'Jodoform' system of secret musical messages, that were
broadcast
by the BBC Service, during music they played was given a particular
meaning, which was interpreted by Polish Underground. discovered from the
original Jodoform log book, that the lovely Polish folk song 'Tango
yczakowskie', was broadcast on the day my mother was born. song describes
how children in 1918, had been forced to take up arms, in defense of their
town. From this tune, chose a short rising musical phrase, and with my
arranger Michael Jennings, developed a ten minute score. Each of the three
solo parts was then recorded separately, edited, and cut onto vinyl. In
the
gallery, 3 x Cello EP's, 3 x Piano EP's, and 3 x Violin EP''s are played
at
either 33, 45, or 78rpm using nine retro record players. These play
continuously, and each was modified to stop playing briefly in response to
the audience moving around the exhibition. This has the effect of changing
and extending the composition, so that it is never the same again.

John Tejada - Where CD (Palette) [PAL050CD] $16.00
RELEASE DATE: 06-24-2008
This is California-based producer John Tejada's 11th full-length
release.
Normally associated with his peers in techno from Detroit, Europe and
elsewhere, John Tejada has embraced electronic music as a personal
frontier, expanding on his resume as a techno recording artist, producer,
remixer, DJ, and label owner. Known for crafting a brand of subtle,
musical
techno, his recorded output ranges across tempo and genre lines, from
chilled-out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely
layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of
DJs as well as on the home stereo. Where ventures away from many of his
own
trademarks, journeying into an intimate vibe of warm pulses and bright
energies. The tracks take expectations and enlighten them with a
collection
of grooves and tweaks that are spacious and rhythmic while being devoid of
predictability.
Jr. Juggernaut - Ghost Poison CD (Suburban Home) [SH69]
$9.50
"The debut album from Los Angeles rockers, JR. JUGGERNAUT. The band
has
sensibly shared bills with Two Cow Garage and Armchair Martian, as their
sound fits somewhere right in the middle. Loud guitars and straight
forward
rock and roll with a definite Americana vibe is the order here.
Judy Henske & Jerry Yester - Farewell Aldebaran CD (Phoenix
Records) [ASH3018CD] $16.00
Timely reissue of this late `60s folk/psych classic from husband and
wife
team Jerry Yester and Judy Henske.
Julien Ribot - Vega CD (Ici d'Ailleurs) [IDA040] $16.75
A luxurious 24 page book edition. Julien Ribot has always loved both
music
and image. At the end of the nineties he was a professional illustrator.
He
had always composed from his early years on for his own pleasure and out
of
a natural need related to his being a man of many ideas-- The triggering
event was the meeting with a Japanese pop star seeking new songs for her
new LP. He wrote her two songs and met a few people in the small French
pop
world. As the buzz around his mysterious personality increased, Julien
Ribot gave up his job in order to devote himself entirely to music. He
released his first LP Hôtel Bocchi at the end of 2001. On top of
having
Françoiz Breut's participation, he was surrounded on some tracks by
Dionysos or Katrine, who helped him enjoy a pleasant succès
d'estime. As a
pianist and a singer he has been influenced (among others) by Mike Garson
(one of Bowie's musicians) and Gerard Jouannest (who worked with French
singer Jacques Brel). He also drew his inspiration for his second LP from
graphic worlds belonging to David Lynch, Roland Topor or Tim Burton. It
was
called La Metamorphose de Caspar Dix and came out in 2004. This album
proved his ability to build a rich and sophisticated world around a
dreamlike story served by sensitive and creative pop music. He is back
today with VEGA, a record he wrote between Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, Rome
and Florence. Without being a concept album, this new release is fully
coherent and builds up again a subtle and captivating atmosphere. The
artist describes a quest for identity and inner peace throughout the
fourteen tracks of the LP which stand for joyful or sad ~V but always
edifying - personal experiences. His most personal record was made with a
new team of musicians and here Ribot stands out as a solo artist able to
create a world of his own. The recording of this album provoked some
enriching experiences like the recording of the strings in London or the
meeting with Mieko Miyazaki, who has fallen in love with Julien's project.
She is one of the most popular koto players worldwide and her instrument
enlightens Le rêve de Tokyo. To finish, the presence of Julien
Ribot's
partner in life, Annabelle, should also be underlined. She cosigns two
titles (La nuit and Les jardins de Boboli) and sings them in duet. First
single : LA CHAMBRE RENVERSEE No one is as talented as Julien Ribot is
when
it comes to creating original worlds, yet he uses very simple ideas. La
chambre renversee is a good example of his inspiration. An artist (Daniel
Spoerri) who covers tables with every day objects before sticking them on
the wall pleased Julien to the utmost. He saw in it an inversion of
perspective which can be summed up as follows: everything is possible in
the imagination! A rather naïve idea that the artist claims. Julien
Ribot
is a cunning composer who wrote a heady gimmick of flute creating
something
close to the sound of fanfare in the listener's ear and which plays a
major
role in making this first single a charming and efficient one. As far as
the lyrics are concerned, without getting into any of the details of the
simple poetry of La chambre renversee, it must be said that the "top of
the
great alphabet" where the bedroom happens to land on is directly inspired
by The Alphabet, David Lynch's first short length film, which is a sort of
painting that comes to life that fascinates Julien Ribot. By the way, he
is
currently using his own talent as a graphic artist in order to illustrate
this song with an animated video clip made with his own drawings. It will
soon enable us to see Julien Ribot's special talent for twisting ideas and
perspectives so as to create a matchless universe.
Jvox - Shuffling Data CD (Unit) [09525] $9.50

Lautreamont - Maldoror And The Complete Works Book (Exact
Change) [ECLAUT] $15.25
Reprinted! "Andre Breton wrote that Maldoror is `the expression of a
revelation so complete it seems to exceed human potential.' Little is
known
about its pseudonymous author aside from his real name (Isidore Ducasse),
birth in Uruguay (1846), and early death in Paris (1870). Lautreamont's
writings bewildered his contemporaries but the Surrealists modeled their
efforts after his lawless black humor and poetic leaps of logic,
exemplified by the oft-quoted slogan, `As beautiful as the chance meeting
on a dissecting-table of a sewing-machine and an umbrella!' Maldoror's
shocked first publisher refused to bind the sheets of the original edition
- and perhaps no better invitation exists to this book which warns the
reader, `Only the few may relish this bitter fruit without danger.' This
is
the only complete annotated collection of Lautreamont's writings available
in English, in a superior translation."
Machine Fabriek + Stephen Vitiello - Box Music CD (12k)
[12K1048] $12.25
RELEASE DATE: 06-09-2008
Rutger and Stephen sort of accidentally met through e-mail. A simple
note
regarding an ordering question for a CD led to an enthusiastic e-mail
conversation and climaxed in a musical collaboration. This all happened in
a very short period, both musicians being very inspired by the concept of
"exchange," as a means to cross space and time -- Rutger living in the
Netherlands and Stephen in Virginia. Most of the time, when (electronic)
musicians work together it's a matter of swapping digital files. In this
case they decided to do something different and sent each other a box full
of (mostly non-musical, or musically non-functional) objects and
recordings, with the "assignment" to make music with those objects and all
as source materials. As the titles tell, we're talking about an egg
cutter,
thumb piano, a broken kraakle box, rice, chocolate sprinkles, old cassette
tapes, a broken 7" record, etcetera, etcetera. Both musicians made two of
their own solo tracks with the box they received, and the last track was
done together by Rutger adding sounds and processing to a piece started by
Stephen. For Rutger/ Machinefabriek this is part of his most delicate
work.
For Stephen, it was a new and extremely enjoyable form of long-distance
collaboration. Machinefabriek: Rutger Zuydervelt, better known as
Machinefabriek, lives in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Started as
Machinefabriek in 2004, he released 40+ small run home-made cdr's as well
as work for Type Records, Lampse, Digitalis, Staalplaat (Mort Aux Vaches)
and now 12K. A double remix cd was released in 2007, with interpetations
by
Alva Noto, Pita, Mitchell Akiyama, Xela, Gert-Jan Prins and many more.
Collaborations (live or recording) include Steinbrüchel, Jasper TX,
Wouter
van Veldhoven, Simon Nabatov, Frans de Waard, Aaron Martin and Peter
Broderick. Stephen Vitiello: Stephen Vitiello is a sound and media artist
based in Richmond, VA. CD releases include Bright and Dusty Things (New
Albion), Listening to Donald Judd (Sub Rosa) and Untitled/Exchange, a
collaborative CD with Michael J. Schumacher (A Question of Re-Entry). Solo
exhibitions of Vitiello's sound installations, photographs and drawings
have been presented at The Project, NY, Museum 52, London, the Texas
Gallery, Houston, TX and Diapason, NYC. Group exhibitions include the 2002
Whitney Biennial and the 2006 Biennial of Sydney. Over the last 18 years,
Stephen has collaborated with numerous musicians and artists including
Scanner, Pauline Oliveros, Andrew Deutsch, Julie Mehretu and Tony Oursler.
Mates of State - Re-arrange Us CD (Barsuk) [BARK74] $12.00
MATES OF STATE are back with Re-arrange Us, only a few months
following the
birth of JASON and KORI's second daughter. Though conceived as a duo,
Mates of State have never failed to generate a trademark wall of sound
built on dozens of varied voicings of keys, drums, and alternately
lushly-layered and playfully-dueling vocals. On Re-arrange Us they move
beyond these boundaries (Kori's traditional organ sound is a distant
memory, replaced with organic piano and synth sounds) with additional
instrumentation including lush strings, guitar, and horns to back up their
already-honed melodic songwriting, which continues to shine on instantly
indelible gems like "Get Better," "Now," and "Jigsaw." Both this newfound
broadening of instrumentation and the increased emergence of both Mates'
lead vocals signal the next stage of the band's evolution.
Mouserocket - Pretty Loud LP+CD (Tic Tac Totally) [TTT014]
$12.00
MOUSEROCKET is back with their sophomore album after two years in the
making and four years apart from their 2004 debut on Empty. Worth the
wait?
Yes! This LP has been as carefully injected with deliciously sweet
rock'n'roll razorblades as a half-opened Halloween treat. The no nonsense,
semi-sweet, creeped-out pop of Mouserocket is back! Back with a
Southern-tinged delivery that conjures the charm of Roky Erickson and the
clean tastes and mighty grandeur of Television.
Nicola Ratti - From the Desert Came Saltwater CD (Anticipate)
[ANTICIP005CD] $14.00
Italian-born multi-instrumentalist and architect, Nicola Ratti,
presents
his debut for Anticipate. Nicola's music can best be described as warm,
subtractive rock, whereby he reduces guitar figures and piano passages
into
quiet explorations of the hidden corners of an otherwise familiar sound.
Guitars twang with slight and spacious percussion and softly hushed
(occasional) vocals and atmospheric twinkles congeal into a
carefully-composed re-imagining of music. In terms of situating this album
in the context of modern electroacoustic music, Nicola uses more natural
effects treatments, shying away from fragmentation and processing, which
obscures the inherent character of the instruments. Rather, he uses these
processes to add depth and subtly tease out the hidden sonorities of his
tools of choice, re-composing them and adding atmospherics along the way.
With one solo album on Megaplomb, a handful of single tracks and remixes,
and a recent collaboration with producer and engineer Giuseppe Ielasi,
Nicola is defined by the excellence of his craft.
Nurse with Wound - Huffin' Rag Blues CD [UJ444] $TBA
RELEASE DATE: 06-16-08
Label: Jnana Notify Me (What is this?)
Nurse With Wound is the main recording vehicle for British musician Steven
Stapleton. Since 1978, with collaborators such as David Tibet (Current 93),
John Balance (Coil), Colin Potter and Matt Waldron (Irr. App [Ext]), Nurse
With Wound has released dozens of albums that draw on nearly every genre of
music. The only constant is that one never knows what the next album will
sound like. Stapleton and Andrew Liles form the core of the band on Huffin'
Rag Blues, and the direction to which they are heading is the lounge!
Huffin' Rag Blues is unlike any Nurse With Wound album in recent memory as
they veer into the space-age bachelor pad. Guest vocalists Lynn Jackson and
Freida Abtan channel Peggy Lee, while Matt Waldron also lends his golden
pipes to one song. This is truly exotica as imagined by the twisted genius
that is Nurse With Wound.

Ring) [09484] $32.75
(220 page hard bound book with full color dust jacket, the album "Zero
Mix"). Hardbound book featuring paintings created to celebrate the release

"Zero Mix" packaged in a book bound cd case. Released in an edition of
1500
copies featuring full color images and a matte and gloss spot coating,
plus
full color dust jacket. Thou had best be ready when the angry eelectric
finger points to YOU! THUS SPAKE NURSE (& Xhol): The recipe began with our
fearless leader, Steve Stapleton, cooking up some recordings & mixing in a
few tablespoons of Xhol Caravan. Beta-lactam Ring now serves up this
piping
hot dish to you, the hungriest of hungry, hungry hippos. In addition, Chef
Steve painted 100 individually hand painted discs to celebrate the release
of the three album set "Angry Eelectric Finger". The paint and vinyl was
salvaged from the local landfill site at Inagh, County Clare, Ireland and
recycled here in Cooloorta during September and November 2004. The
paintings were displayed in Galway, Ireland and Portland, Oregon before
being offered for sale. All the paintings are now presented here in a
deluxe hardbound book with full color images and a spot gloss coating.
Released in an edition of 1500 copies with the album "Zero Mix".

captivating Kathryn Bint. One Little Plane's music will appeal to fans of
Cat Power, Bat for Lashes, Beth Orton, and Feist."

Otto von Schirach - Oozing Bass Spasms CD (Cock Rock Disco)
[CROCK019] $17.25
RELEASE DATE: 06-30-2008
The sado-booty ring-master is back again, that's right, Cock Rock
Disco is
proud to present the new full length album by Otto Von Schirach: "Oozing
Bass Spasms". With enough porn and horror samples to satiate the most
demented programmer, and enough juicy bass to placate the most voracious
bass-head, Oozing Bass Spasms is a masterwork by one of the world's most
original artists. By far his most approachable and even refined album,
it's
still pretty f***ing crazy in a way that only Otto von Schirach can
provide. This time the overall feeling of the album is more dance
sounding;
elements of Booty, Electro, Breakcore, and Rave music all find a place in
his bizarre universe. From the first track "Subatomic Disco Divas" to the
last "Satanic Unicorn Orgy", we are spoon-fed outstanding beats of all
types, fractured and welded into ghettoized forms never seen. "Magnetic
Rave Headache" will probably be one of the hardest breakcore tracks you've
ever heard, and then the next song, "GELIATIN FIXATION" is built around a
dubstep bassline that would make Scorn wet himself. His ballad "Her Blood
Is Like Poison" gets the ladies horny and the boys start the mosh-pit
during "DJ Hepatitis Tofuburger". But the party gets rowdy with his
collaboration with Liquido -"Romance in the Club"- a electro-club banger
like we rarely get anymore- it's positively soaked in party. Otto Von
Schirach (half Cuban / half German) was born in 1978 in the ghetto in
Miami. In 1995 he bought his first drum machine from a crack-head just 2
blocks from his mom's house, and in 1998 Otto released his first demo,
which got him signed to a 4 album deal with Schematic Records. In 2003
Otto
worked on the Skinny Puppy album "The Greater Wrong of the Right" and then
tour with them now 3 times. In 2004 Miss Kitten had Otto remix her
"Professional Distortion" track for Nova Mute UK. Otto's last album,
"Maxipad Detention", was released by Mike Patton's Ipecac Recordings in
2006 to vast critical and fan accolades world-wide. Otto is currently
touring in Europe with Einstürzende Neubauten (May), in the USA
with
Venetian Snares (June), and will be back for a massive tour in
collaboration with porn-rap legend Blowfly (August-Sept).
Paavoharju - Laulu Laakson Kukista CD (Fonal) [FR055CD]
$16.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-22-2008
This is the highly-anticipated second full-length release on Fonal
Records
from Finland's Paavoharju, a collective formed around two brothers - Lauri
and Olli Ainaila and their troupe of associates. The group is a collective
project of ascetic born-again Christians. Laulu Laakson Kukista (A Song
About Flowers of the Valley) evokes the sounds of raindrops falling on a
sheet metal roof melting together with an old television's random
dot-pattern noise. Backwards pianos, backwards vocals, tilted organ and
baroque beats lean against sweeping operatic soundscapes and gossamer
back-porch folk singalongs. Mind-bending devotional rock-opera from the
deepest Finnish forests.

Rome - Masse Mensch Material CD (Cold Meat Industry) [09553]
$15.50
New wine from the orchards of Rome! After two successful albums, Nera
and
Confessions d'un Voleur d'Ames, ROME blesses us with its
12-track-knock-out
Masse Mensch Material -which holds more than one musical surprise! ROME's
particular brand of post-industrial folk, combined with new-wave
song-writing and neo-classical arrangements, takes on a new and poppy
twist. But these outstanding songs have way too much depth to be dismissed
as mere pop music. This third album is of a more subtle darkness and
probably ROME's best work to date. A work of art of extreme sincerity,
Masse Mensch Material revolves around the themes of love, faith and
endurance. ROME has created a fascinating world of contradictions which
each song lays out with clarity and with all the cruelty and kindness
intact. Within a very short period of time and at a terrifying pace,
workaholic mastermind Jerome Reuter has carved his own path and created
and
established a dominion of his own, with its own codes and values. Through
its bitter sweet melodies of exquisite sadness and rebellion, its haunting
lyrics, mesmerizing vocals and recordings of unmatched production and
sound, ROME has become the new face of dark romanticism. Jerome's voice
echoes pride and death of a time and place long forgotten. A voice which
becomes the axis that breaks one's consciousness into some kind of tender
submission. Let yourself be buried in the shade of this masterpiece, in
the
beauty of desperation! Come out under the stars! ROME is the light!
Exclusive 4-panel embossed digipak with 16-pages booklet including ALL
lyrics!
S/T - Und So Weiter CD (Dirter Promotions) [DPROM064CD]
$16.00
RELEASE DATE: 06-24-2008
Dirter Promotions releases Und So Weiter by Kraut-psych band S/T from
Hamburg. This CD is the most accomplished work to date from this
astounding
band, who has released lavishly-packaged and mind-blowing material since
1993 that sounds like no other. Their previous releases have appeared on
both their own Save Our Sperms and Get Happy imprints, as well as the
label
run by Hans Joachim Irmler of Faust, Klangbad. Andy Wilson, author of
Faust
- Stretch Out Time and faust-pages.com web master says that "S/T are a
classic Kraut rock group - not in the sense that they sound like other
Kraut rock groups, but that they take Kraut rock forward in a
punk/songwriter direction." Packaged in a beautiful mini-LP sleeve,
printed
on reverse board with a lyric sheet.
School, The - Let It Slip CDS (Elefant) [ER-373] $7.75
RELEASE DATE: 06-02-2008
Only some weeks after letting you know about this amazing new band
from
Cardiff and their wonderful debut single, "All I wanna do", now it's time
to confirm the commotion and clamour their songs are creating amongst the
music press and 50s girl-group fans. Rough Trade compares them to Kirsty
McColl and CAMERA OBSCURA, Hipersonica to BELLE & SEBASTIAN and THE BEACH
BOYS, New York newspaper The Village Voice turns them into a magical
daydream of THE RONETTES, weblog Parallax View makes them single of the
week and Pitchfork considers them relatives to Phil Spector's wall of
sound. And let's not forget about the two radio sessions the band has
recorded for British BBC: the first one, last February, for Bethan Elfyn's
show on Radio 1, and their second appearance live on the BBC by mid-March,
this time for Marc Riley. After such enthusiastic reactions, we cannot do
other than euphorically annouce that their second single, "Let it slip",
has been released. Born from the same sessions that resulted in "All I
wanna do", and with Ian Catt (SAINT ETIENNE, TREMBLING BLUE STARS,
NOSOTRÄSH, THE FIELD MICE, SHAMPOO, THE BOO RADLEYS, Kahimi Karie)
on
production duties, this new single holds four delightful songs: "Let it
slip" (which gives the single its name), "I don't believe in love", "I
want
you back" y "Shoulder". But the best thing about this release is the way
it
reaffirms our already strong belief in the single format's grandeur,
especially when a band such as THE SCHOOL is able to record four songs
that
could very well be earth-shaking hits.
Slogun - Glory Of Murder CD (Bloodlust) [B!090] $13.25
The sixth and final release in SLOGUN's History of Violence reissue
campaign was originally released on cassette (Soffitta Macabra, 1998); it
was a major landmass in the evolving world of true crime subject matter.
Like the five precursors in the series, it boasts ultra-violent, harsh
electronics, great samples, and raging vocals.
Supa D - Rinse 03 CD (Rinse Fm) [RINSE004CD] $15.25
No description available at this time.
Toby Tobias - Space Shuffle CD (Rekids) [REKIDS003CD]
$15.50

Twine - Violets CD (Ghostly International) [gi59] $13.75
LIMITED TO 750. This is a requiem for the new dark age. A memoir of a
dying
era, defined by the years of an inevitably dichotomized & isolated nation.
The duo of Greg Malcolm & Chad Mossholder move from the muggy backwoods of
their early work towards the sonic approximation of icy remoteness.
Created
by a process of long distance file-sharing, the layers mesh together in a
synchronous & fragile splendor, melding disembodied vocals, guitar rattles
& crispy unpredictability to create a modern classic.
Vampire Hands - Me And You Cherry & Cherry Red CD (Modern
Radio) [MRRL040] $9.00
"VAMPIRE HANDS' release Me And You Cherry Red doesn't differ from the
trippy, hypnotic sound showcased on Virgin Dust American Lips and 2007's
Cuz It's a Beach Funeral, but rather skims the edge off their sometimes
rattling and raucous sound and cleaning it up with echoing vocal harmonies
and catchy melodies. Songs like "No Fun" have a mellow, retro flavor that
are soaked in electric guitar solos that would be complimentary in sound
to
Jefferson Airplane; "Statuette" taps into the roots of Vampire Hands'
older
tunes with haunting hymns and modern heavy beats that somehow manage to
tap
into a sound not entirely unlike Portishead. Me And You Cherry Red is
staying in touch with its psychedelic roots, but definitely proves you
don't have to sacrifice melody and conform to one standard sound. And as
far as live gigs are concerned, Vampire Hands earned recognition for a
reason: they put on one hell of a show."--MFR
Various Artists - Dangerous Drums presents It's a Berlin Thing
Vol 2 2 X CD (Dangerous Drums) [09511] $13.00
No description available at this time.
Various Artists - Compound CD (Sulfur) [09514] $10.75
Britain's Sulphur label straddles a number of musical lines, dabbling
in
everything from abstract beats, dubwise electronica, and acid jazz to
experimental art music and twisted drum'n'bass. This compilation draws
largely on the label's Parallel Meld series, which throws different
artists
together with the assignment of collaborating on an album; most of the
material here comes from albums that already feature in the Sulphur
catalog, but several tracks are previously unreleased.

Andre Lodemann - Wanna Feel 12 inch (Simple Music)
[SIMPLE832EP] $11.50
"Andre's first release for Simple Records Wanna Feel is all about the
resonant, hypnotic bass line that steadily opens out to reveal more layers
of harmony. Little sounds and licks of melody dance around the bass while
strings and stabs build the hook into one big crescendo. Brooks'
melancholic strings cleverly cut up the bass line and an eerie soundscape
pushes the vibe of the original into a darker, more sinister techno place."

Black Cobra - Feather And Stone LP (At A Loss) [AAL023V]
$16.75
NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! Even without a North American booking agent
(until just recently) BLACK COBRA has gone on seven US, one European, one
UK only, one Belgium only, and one extended 10-day tour of Japan since the
2006 release of Bestial. BC have played absolutely empty rooms to in front
of 3,000 people at the Dour Festival. Shows have been with everyone from
Tragedy to the The Sword and tours with everyone from Torche to Eternal
Elysium (Japan). And what are they like? Alternative Press says: "Like Karp
with Jupiter-sized balls and swords for teeth."

Chenaux - Sloppy Ground LP (Constellation) [CST52V] $16.25
NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! Sloppy Ground is ERIC CHENAUX's strongest,
most
accessible and most dynamic work in years. Constellation has long been
champions of the man's inimitable talents--as a songwriter, arranger and
mind-bending guitarist--and this new album should make these talents clear
to the nominally attentive listener. This is a collection of beautifully
fried love songs, highly original in compositional approach and
instrumental texture, utterly compelling in lyrical content and delivery.
Claude Vonstroke & Christian Martin - Groundhog Day 12 inch
(Dirtybird) [DBIRD016EP] $11.50
"Claude VonStroke returns with his first original record in over a
year.
This time he partners with long time friend and upcoming producer,
Christian Martin. This is a melodic hybrid of techno and house with
influences as far away as drum n' bass. The flip side features a remix by
super hot producer Gabriel Ananda and newcomer Alice Rose. They playfully
twist the main theme throughout, sprinkling in stabs to the
constantly-building groove. Many people have said the original record
sounds like a follow-up to `Who's Afraid of Detroit?' but we will let you
decide what to think for yourself."
Cotton Museum - No Face in the Bog LP (Qbico) [QBICO078LP]
$22.75
No description available at this time.
CRC/WAV - The Nymph/Nyquist Plot 12 inch (Curle Recordings)
[CURLE012EP] $11.50
"CRC from Finland is still a fresh name to the world. He already
released
on Force Inc, Phonocult and a few local labels, but under different
disguises. After his track on Curle 009 (remixed by the mighty Convextion
because he liked it so much!) CRC then got signed to Arne Weinberg's label
for a track on their first compilation. His `The Nymph' track, has been a
secret weapon for many months. Combine the melodic virtuosity of a young
Mathew Jonson with the deepness of the current Detroit sound and you're
almost there. Truly a blinder! Wav is no other than that same CRC together
with his good friend and fellow Finnish producer Aki `Artificial'
Latvamäki. Their `Nyquist Plot' outing seems the perfect highlight
in a
Sven Väth set to us, so be sure to check it out!"
Darko Esser/Denis Karimani - Absolutely No Regrets/Melted 12
inch (Curle Recordings) [CURLE011EP] $11.50
"Two incredibly strong tracks from two established names in the scene.
Played by Sven Väth, Dave Clarke, John Acquaviva, Josh Wink, Laurent
Garnier, Monika Kruse, Efdemin."
Detroit Grand Pubahs - Thanks For Coming 12 inch (Detelefunk)
[DETELE007EP] $12.25
Taken from the Pubah's album Nuttin Butt Funk, "Thanks For Coming" is
from
the elusive Dr. Bootygrabber character, last seen on DGP's Funk All Y'All.
This continues in the same vein with deep beats and eerie, seductive
vocals, accompanied by Ernest's high-pitched evil conscience. On remix duty
are Steve Bug and The Advent, who add serious dancefloor fuel to the fire.
Finally, a little message from one of DGP's cohorts - a little Mexican only
known as "La Chuppa Roussa."
Diplo & Don Rimini - Bust A Move Rmxxs 12 inch (Delicious
Vinyl) [DV9039] $7.50
As the years scroll by, some rhymes stay forever fly. Back in 1989
YOUNG
MC's "Bust A Move" was a ubiquitous presence on the pop music landscape,
the sort of inescapable rap hit that remains imprinted in the minds of a
generation. Now, two decades later, "Bust A Move" has been refueled and
retooled by two of today's party-rocking superheroes--DIPLO and DON
RIMINI--as part of Delicious Vinyl's RMXXOLOGY. Diplo's "Bust A Move" RMX
takes all the hard-earned club savvy and pours it out in service of a
certified floor-filler. Don Rimini, the frisky Frenchman, gets synthesizers
sizzling on the front-burner and four-on-the-floor beats moving your back
end.
DJ
Yellow - Too Much Of Nothing 12 inch (Wolfskuil Records) [WOLF011EP]
$11.50
"With influences that range from the bells of Mike Oldfield to the
beats of
Jeff Mills, the depths of James Holden to the drive of Josh Wink, its
Yellow's signature blend of hypnotic techno and deephouse that he is
respected for. With both drive and melancholic strains apparent in his
works, Yellow is a master at weaving melodies and grooves that continue to
hypnotize and energize over the course of a night. He is considered one of
the godfathers of the French house scene since the early `80s and has
continued his legacy through his own Poussez! Music imprint and the
Alienation & Intermission series. The 2 tracks on his first ever release on
a Dutch label have the typical DJ Yellow trademarks written all over it.
The title track with its uplifting drum patterns, driving bassline and
haunting strings and melodies is peaktime material for anyone who likes to
go deep without losing energy in his or her set."
Eleanoora Rosenholm - Vainajan Muotokuva LP (Fonal) [FR054LP]
$19.75
This is the debut full-length by Eleanoora Rosenholm. Eleanoora
Rosenholm
comes from Pori, Finland and is a project began by Noora Tommila, Pasi
Salmi and Mika Rättö. They crafted a genius pop album with
murderous lyrics
inside the dark stone walls that surround SS-Palace studio. The time came
to take the show on the road and the band evolved into a full 8-piece.
Weird, almost avant synth-pop harmonies with creepily-sweet Finnish vocals,
sometimes vocoded.
Errors - It's Not Something But It Is Like LP (Rock Action
Records) [ROCKACT036LP] $17.75
No description available at this time.
Expressions East - Featuring the Oud of John LP (Mainstream)
[MAINS/6023HLP] $15.00
No description available at this time.
Fabrice Lig - Purple Raw Part One 12 inch (Versatile)
[VER058EP] $11.50
Fabrice Lig presents chapter one in his Purple Raw trilogy. "The Track"
is
based around a jerky, syncopated rhythm and a very dry kick. A great
mixture of minimal techno and Detroit nostalgia that has been hammered by
Dixon, me, Alex Attias, etc. "Bump Bump" is built around fat analog sounds
and an animalistic groove that keeps on building. It all ends with the
very funky "The Riff Pourpre," a perfect crossover between Metro Area and
Parliament. Big, fat beats.
Factums - Sistrum LP (Sacred Bones) [SBR004] $17.50
Full-length follow-up to last year's LP on the Sitlbreeze label from
this
band that vaguely circles in the A-Frames/Intelligence/Fruit Bats orbit.
Critics have compared Factums to Tronics, Cabaret Voltaire, or Pere Ubu's
more chaotic moments also citing some heavy Kraut influenced flashes.
Includes a bonus three song 7-inch EP and screened cover art.
Farflung - A Wound In Eternity 2xLP (Cobraside / Meteor City)
[CSDLP1122] $20.75
NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! Double vinyl, gatefold sleeve Cobraside
version
of the new Meteor City release, containing a bonus vinyl-only 7-minute
track! Mind-blowing spacerock that crosses over into alternative, punk and
no-wave scenes.
Freeport - Freeport LP (Mainstream) [MAINS/6130HLP] $15.00

Grimes Adhesif - Wilmslow Road 12 inch (Curle Recordings)

[WEIRD007LP] $18.00
No description available at this time.
Hrdvsion - Playing For Keeps 12 inch (Wagon Repair) [WAG036EP]
$11.50
This is Hrdvsion's third Wagon Repair release. Taking influence from
the
unrestrained creativity of luminaries such as Squarepusher and Aphex Twin,
Hrdvsion's disjointed compositions stand in stark contrast to the more
fluid output of his brother, Mathew Jonson. "Playing For Keeps" is centered
around swinging, crunching beats, "Playing for Daddy's Girl" introduces
distorted 8-bit melodies, a throbbing deep bass, and a sampled cheering
audience. The Mole transforms "Playing For Keeps" into pure house - a dark
electro sweat fest.
Hugo - The Sloop & The Siren 12 inch (Tuning Spork) [TS034EP]
$11.50

Ican - Caminos del Niño 12 inch (Ican Productions)
[ICAN004EP] $8.25
No description available at this time.
Inca Ore - Brute Nature versus Wild Magic LP (Weird Forest)
[WEIRD011LP] $12.00
2005 release. "Inca Ore is the solo voice of Eva, the singer of such
fine
bands as Alarmist and Malibu Falcon. Inca Ore travels the cosmos on fiery
phoenix mattresses with the voice of a goose-quilled cloud pillow siren
calling to all the constellations in the universe. Eva uses her vocal range
and delay complement to create the sounds of entire sorceress covens
through her lone voice."
Italoboyz - Bahia 12 inch (Mothership) [MSHIP006EP] $11.50
"After the genre-smashing, seven vinyl pressings deep (and counting)
success of Viktor Casanova, there is no way that the Italoboyz could
possibly top their first appearance on Mothership, right? Wrong! We are
happy to report that they have created an organic techno masterpiece in
`Bahia,' enlisting the help of one of the greatest jazz musicians of our
time - John Coltrane. You've never heard the master like this - the
Italoboyz have molded the original `Bahia' into a stomping peak timer as
only they can."
Jjak Hogan - Jjak Hogan 12 inch (Rekids) [REKIDS019EP]

John Tejada - Where 2xLP (Palette) [PAL050LP] $19.00
RELEASE DATE: 06-24-2008
This is California-based producer John Tejada's 11th full-length
release.
Normally associated with his peers in techno from Detroit, Europe and
elsewhere, John Tejada has embraced electronic music as a personal
frontier, expanding on his resume as a techno recording artist, producer,
remixer, DJ, and label owner. Known for crafting a brand of subtle, musical
techno, his recorded output ranges across tempo and genre lines, from
chilled-out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely
layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of
DJs as well as on the home stereo. Where ventures away from many of his own
trademarks, journeying into an intimate vibe of warm pulses and bright
energies. The tracks take expectations and enlighten them with a collection
of grooves and tweaks that are spacious and rhythmic while being devoid of
predictability.

Kay
Kay and his Weathered Underground - Kay Kay And His Weathered Underground
2xLP (Suburban Home) [SH65] $20.75
Born after the unfortunate end (or hiatus) of GATSBY'S AMERICAN DREAM,
KIRK
and KYLE began doing KAY KAY AND HIS WEATHERED UNDERGROUND. Although the
band is still relatively new, they have released a live DVD, played Last
Call with Carson Daly, and have gotten people talking all over the world.
The songs are well written, the instrumentation vast, and the hooks just
reach out and grab you. This record defies classification, genre
pigeonholing, or band comparisons. Includes a digital download card.
Kevin Blechdom - Children's Suite And Live At PBS 7 inch (Dual
Plover) [07BLECHCHIL] $16.25
Possibly the sickest release Dual Plover has ever produced. You would
expect this type of perversion from label mates Suicidal Rap Orgy but KEVIN
BLECHDOM? No, sweet Kevy wouldn't rework a Beatles classic like "Twist and
Shout" into a celebration of pre-natal pleasure, or would she? Comes
complete with bonus live-to-air CD recorded at Melbourne's PBS FM's studio
5 live program during her 2006 Australian tour.
Klondike & York - The Holy Book LP (Weird Forest) [WEIRD002LP]
$12.00
2002 release, the earliest available Weird Forest album. From Arthur
Magazine: "Skronky sax, scuddering drums, some wall-eyed synthesizer,
everything blended like some sorta weird stew of darkly boiling orgone. Its
one of the best free jazz duo records to come out of Sacramento since [your
favorite here]. And frankly, its even better than that." -Byron Coley.
Limited to 500 copies.

$12.00
MOUSEROCKET is back with their sophomore album after two years in the
making and four years apart from their 2004 debut on Empty. Worth the wait?
Murder By Death - Who Will Survive 2x10 inch (Murder By Death)
[MBD001] $19.25
NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! Bloomington, Indiana's MURDER BY DEATH is
part
horror movie climax, part Western barroom brawl, and a dash of wintry and
ambling layers reminiscent of the Cure. Their sophomore album, Who Will
Survive and What Will Be Left of Them, has been described in hushed tones
as one of the most innovative and well executed records of the year.
Murder By Death - Red Of Tooth And Claw LP (Murder By Death)
[MBD004] $23.75
NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! MURDER BY DEATH play a blend of rocking
Americana
noir and dramatic post-punk that erased old style and audience boundaries
as much as it tested the limits of new ones. And with this album they are
emerging as true artists in the zero-boundary sense: cinematic storytellers
whose albums come together in an essential whole, and players whose
jaw-dropping performances on record make you yearn for the chance to
experience their energy up close and in person. Red of Tooth and Claw finds
Murder By Death at the height of their powers.

[DOGTOWN006EP] $11.50
"Dogtown expands its horizon to the States! New York City-based Nick
Chacona comes up with a dark hypnotic tribal burner with some uplifting
`80s synth sounds on top of it that could best be described as Radio Slave
meets Lindstrøm! Nick has gained an admirable reputation with
diverse
releases on high prolific labels and on Prins Thomas' Internasjonal label!
Be ready for the sound of the future! And while we're at it, we asked
Ibadan legend Jerome Sydenham to attack the original."
Norma Jean - Bless The Martyr, Redeemer, O God The Aftermath LP
Box (Suburban Home) [SH59] $46.50
NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! A quadruple LP box set from NORMA JEAN

Nothing People - Anonymous LP (S-S Records) [SS038] $13.25
"Over the last couple of years, THE NOTHING PEOPLE have released three
stellar 7-inch records and during that time they have built a "fan club"
that includes Anopheles Records' Karl Ikola, the guys at Victim of Time,
Siltbreeze's Tom Lax, In the Red's Larry Hardy, the folks down at Your
Flesh, Ryan Wells of Z Gun, and many more. And over the last couple years
this "fan club" has asked me "When's the full length?" over and over again.
Well, now they can shut the hell up because the Nothing People's first
album is here! And let me tell you this, while the Nothing Peeps have
plenty of songs that yell out "put me on a 45," they have just as many that
demand to be heard in long form. Want an example, check out "Sickness." It
is the kind of song you want to hear on twelve inches, and there are 8, 9,
10 hell I lost count, but there are a bunch more. So, yeah, it is time for
you to get a big dose of proto/glam/psych/punk/wave excellence. On clear
vinyl. 600 pressed."--Scott Soriano

$16.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-22-2008
This is the highly-anticipated second full-length release on Fonal
Records
from Finland's Paavoharju, a collective formed around two brothers - Lauri
and Olli Ainaila and their troupe of associates. The group is a collective
project of ascetic born-again Christians. Laulu Laakson Kukista (A Song
About Flowers of the Valley) evokes the sounds of raindrops falling on a
sheet metal roof melting together with an old television's random
dot-pattern noise. Backwards pianos, backwards vocals, tilted organ and
baroque beats lean against sweeping operatic soundscapes and gossamer
back-porch folk singalongs. Mind-bending devotional rock-opera from the
deepest Finnish forests.

Various Artists - Various Artists Vol. V 12 inch (Highgrade)
[HIGH049EP] $11.50
"After looking deeply into Berlin's minimal house scene and extended
family
in the previous releases, Highgrade features mainly international artists
in this release. Three artists/projects from three different countries: Ung
and Bastos from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil raise the bar `high' in the first
techno/house track remixed by label boss Tom Clark. Jackspot, a popular
minimal project from Lisbon, Portugal, comes in with `Brainstorm' - after a
soft start, the number grows more and more quirky with sick rhythms to end
in euphoric house heaven. Finally, Homm und Popoviciu's `Deaf Sniper'
brings us back to Berlin. The German/Romanian project delivers a minimal
and hypnotic house move to take you to the top."

Johnson's `Scanning for Viruses' by the Jolly Giant himself, Claude
VonStroke, `Would It?' by Trevor Loveys and Jesse Rose under the guise of
IZIT, the huge `Block Party' from Buckley and `Wake Up,' which was a
landmark collaboration between Jesse Rose and Made to Play's rising star,
Oliver

Velvet Underground & Nico - Velvet Underground & Nico PICTURE
DISC LP (Vinyl Lovers) [990052] $27.50
THE VELVET UNDERGROUND's legendary debut album with the original ANDY
WARHOL banana cover art printed on vinyl! Although Warhol, who was listed
as producer on the album, allegedly gave the Velvets free reign over their
sound, it was on his insistence that Nico performed on this album. However,
this does not detract from the fact that when this album was made the Red
Sea parted, and the Velvet Underground crossed into the Promised Land.
