Aube - Les Syndrome Aquatique 2CD (Silentes) [09587] $25.25
This is the long awaited reissue of one of the best Aube’s
work originally
titled AQUA SYNDROME, published about 10 years ago by MANIFOLD records. The
new reissue included the original album with a bonus track and a bonus live
CD. LE SYNDROME AQUATIQUE is an impressive job of deconstruction and
resetting of sonorous material to work of Aube, this particularly extended
in the duration, treaty and expanded time, much to be proposed in a rich
edition in double CD. Through sophisticated and very tested technical of
sonorous rework assembled in years of untiring activity in a searching
experience, Aube puts molding on and models fragments of concrete sounds of
"aquatic" derivation transforming them in unknown drones, noises, pads,
loops rhythms -mechanics, constructing a fantastic sonorous tapestry of
valuable invoice and incredible impact, and unavoidably bringing back to
the memory the first three CD constructed with single water sounds of the
monumental one box of 12 CD " proudly published from Amplexus in 2000. One
new unforgettable work for all those who love, and has loved, the
avant-guard-istic sonorous experimentations of large the great Japanese
master.
Aube - Metal on Metal CD (Silentes) [09602] $25.25
Another long awaited reissue from Aube. METAL ON METAL (as for AQUA
SYNDROME) was published by MANIFOLD records. Also for this work, over the
original album, you'll can hear a bonus track and a full live CD. To the
discovery of the alchemical secrets and the magic of the metallic
materials, of their acoustic characters, and the possible technological
manipulations on the sounds that are possible to pull out... It arches of
it resonances, mantric vibrations, hypnotics bells rings... That features
of sounds of cymbals, plates, rings... that tubular elements are used or
more ordinary and simple metallic objects of common use... that they are
bowed or scraped..., Aube acquires the sounds and of it transforming its
essence... decomposing and recomposing the shape... Fragmenting,
expanding, stratifying and elaborating the sonorous matter, constructs
complexwafts, resounding weaves carpets, interlaces thin threads of
metallic tensions, crumbles and agglomerates acoustic particles, leaves to
flowlong, reverberating, harmonic drones... "Metal on Metal", two only,
fantastic CD for and a matchless release
Aube - Reworks Stefano Gentile II CD (Silentes) [09605]
$16.75
Long static drones and suspended frequencies of harmonic, sonorous
wafts in
constant evolution riding cyclical hypnotic perennially changing synthetic
curved waves... Loops and fluctuating waves meet expand sonorous carpets
and push-buttons electronic micro-sequences that progressively decompose in
minimal rhythmic structures... Submerged melodic fragments emerge soft
between stuffed with wadding magma flows... Extraordinary atmospheres and
great new tension for this, most waited chapter of "Aube Reworks Stefano
Gentile"!
Michael and Spider - Iridescent Garden CD (Lavender Records)
[LAV04] $9.00
Take equal parts of Les Baxter, Arthur Lyman and Martin Denny. Add a
dash
of Yma Sumac, Link Wray, Santo & Johnny and The Ventures. Blend until
smooth and lush, removing kitsch through strainer. Pour into tall tiki mug
and garnish with a sweet red cherry and a paper umbrella. Q: How would you
describe Iridescent Garden, exotica reinvented in terms of the music?
Michael: It's magical, tropical, romantic, decadent, lush,
wicked, dark,
sonic, mysterious, surreal, gorgeous and gilded. Spider: We took vintage
exotica and turned it upside-down on its head, adding our own modern twist
while still remaining faithful to the genre.
Milford Graves - Percussion Ensemble CD (ESP-Disk)
[ESPDISK1015CD] $12.75
Milford Graves (drums, gong, bells, shaker); Sonny Morgan (drums,
bells).
"Percussionist Milford Graves recorded his first and only ESP-Disk
recording on August 5th, 1966 along with fellow percussionist, the late
Sonny Morgan. According to Milford Graves, the titles were given numbers
according to how many beats were in each measure. This unique combination
of percussion conversations between Milford Graves is a welcomed addition
in the new series of digipak reissues. Research and accurate session date
information and analog tape transfer by Michael D. Anderson." Digitally

Abiku - Right CD (Automation) [AUTO019] $9.00
RELEASE DATE: 06-24-2008
***The second of two companion CDs from Baltimore electro-punk duo
ABIKU--JANE (keyboards, vocals) and JOSH (keyboards, guitars). A tough to
nail down mix of rave, lo-fi electronics, post-metal, noise pop and punk,
rocked with throat ripping vocals, screeches, and bellows.
Alva Noto - Unitxt CD (Raster Music) [RASTER095CD] $16.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-22-2008
After finishing the Transall Cycle in 2006 and introducing the Xerrox
series in 2007, Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai) makes a move back to his more
rhythmic approach with Unitxt. Seen as a kind of continuation of the
Transspray EP from 2004, Unitxt was recorded during Raster-Noton Japan
tours in 2006 and 2007. Unit - the initial working title of the album - is
the name of Club Unit in Tokyo. The way of composing the tracks in the grid
of 120 bpm and out of different rhythmic units or modules recombined, as
well as the mode of expression used for the text component of the
recordings (developed in collaboration with the French sound poet
Anne-James Chaton), changed the original title to Unitxt.
Andrew Liles & Daniel Menche - Progeny Of The Flies CD
(Beta-Lactam Ring) [MT206] $16.25
DANIEL MENCHE's test-tones defying low-end slowly compresses the
woofers
into diamond earrings, an emerging theme for tack piano cautiously stabs at
the din. And just before cowboy-robot-gone-mad Yul Brynner shows up to kill
all humans, the piano slinks away to make room for the buzzing Progeny of
the Flies, whose crescendo of wing-beats quietly, subtly rises and rises
the swarm to Jupiter and beyond the infinite. After multiple listens a
Xen(akis)-like state is realized and there should be a giant Star Fly-Child
in your living room. Brutally cosmic!!!
Andrey Kiritchenko - Mort Aux Vaches CD (Staalplaat) [MORTAK]
$19.75
No description available at this time.
Astrid - & 2CD (Arbouse Recordings) [arbou019] $22.00
RELEASE DATE: 06-23-2008
Between Clogs, Boxhead Ensemble, Silver Mt Zion and Colleen.
Atomic/School Days - Distil CD (Okka Disk) [OKKA073CD]
$12.25
A new live recording from Atomic/School Days.
Aufgehoben - Khora CD (Holy Mountain) [HOLY196180] $12.00
Khora is the fifth full-length by AUFGEHOBEN. Since the release of
their
previous album, Messidor, the group has somewhat relaxed their strict
commitment to anonymity by allowing their names to be known and photos to
be taken, and even playing a few well-received live shows. Messidor may
have been mellower, but the progression displayed on Khora leads one to
believe that full-on rock may be in the cards for this group, who have
seemingly removed the elbow patches from their jackets and rolled up their
sleeves for good. The album begins with three short pieces, sonic examples
of texture meeting metal--like a djinn trapped in molten gold, attempting
to burst free from his cage but only managing to express rage via infinie
temporary sculptures ranging from the nightmares of the Muetter Museum to
futuristic expressions of nature not yet captured by a conscious eye. The
final track is 28 minutes of pure glory that will surely become one of
noise rock's classics. Massively blown-out and beautifully recorded,
"Jederfursich" lays down twin mirrors side by side as a model of infinity
is allowed to morph through sounds that recall the energy of existence and
the sand of time itself.
Basic Channel - Basic Channel 2 CD (Basic Channel) [BCD002CD]
$16.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-08-2008
The first CD compilation of Basic Channel releases from 1995 became one
of
the quintessential electronic music compilations of all time. Now, in a
total surprise move, a companion CD, Basic Channel 2, has been released -
featuring full-length versions of six of the label's landmark club tracks
released on vinyl between 1993 and 1995. From today's perspective, you can
see and hear much of the later Rhythm & Sound style, with its echo-heavy
atmospheric density, already laid out to perfection here. Basic Channel is
the minimal techno production team and record label, composed of Moritz Von
Oswald and Mark Ernestus, that originated in Berlin, Germany in 1993. They
released a classic series of 9 iconic 12" records in the mid-'90s, and this
CD compilation of material is taken from those 12"s. Featured here, on CD
for the first time, are some of the most legendary electronic music tracks
of all time: "Enforcement," "Phylyps Trak," "Inversion," "Octagon,"
"Octaedre," and "Phylyps Trak II/II." Stylistically, Basic Channel creates
their own sub-genre of Detroit techno; slowly developing pulsations and
abstractions with a heavy emphasis on post-dub processed crackles, blips
and hiss - the word "seminal" was invented for moments just like this.
Boxhead Ensemble - Dutch Harbor Soundtrack CD (Atavistic)
[ALP85] $14.00
"A landmark release, and to me it truly defines the 'post' in
post-rock.
Propelled strictly by word-of-mouth in underground film/music circles, the
ever-shifting BOXHEAD ENSEMBLE went on to record several follow-ups to this
soundtrack, and toured the world performing them live. Which means this
unassuming little soundtrack became the genesis of an unexpected cottage
industry, one of the oddest and most refreshing things to happen in a long
time."--Rateyourmusic.com
Burning Brides - Anhedonia CD (Cobraside) [CSDCD1207]
$13.75
BURNING BRIDES have started their own religion with their fourth album
Anhedonia. In continuing with their tradition of dark melodic heavy rock,
the Brides have once again created a record full of haunting riffs and
eerily beautiful anthems. Real life brides and major label survivalists
DIMITRI and MELANIE COATS and best friend PETE BEEMAN decided to release
last year's critically acclaimed Hang Love themselves. After recent US
tours with Mastodon, Eagles Of Death Metal, Helmet, and Fu Manchu, Burning
Brides continue to build a loyal underground cult following. Anhedonia
features thirteen songs (fifteen on the upcoming vinyl LP). No bullshit. No
filler. Like the days when a band was allowed to develop and show its range
from album to album, Burning Brides have allowed their new material to move
into deeper waters. Being self-produced, self-financed, and self-managed
has afforded the band the opportunity to operate under no label and the
artistic freedom to move forward. They own their masters, publishing, and
souls.
Byetone - Death of a Typographer CD (Raster Music)
[RASTER092CD] $16.00
Olaf Bender (Byetone) is co-founder of the Raster-Noton label, and this
is
his third release for the label. Death of a Typographer is meant to be a
snapshot, recorded in a wintery week in Berlin. Only the pre-released
single Plastic Star was created in sunny Athens, which is included in its
original session version here. The music on Death of a Typographer carries
the special sound of Raster-Noton, but with an important difference: the
tracks act as focal points, as elegies to a latently-flowing stream, a
stream that still moves on, even when the music has long faded away.
Cubenx - The Cold Swells CD (Static Discos) [STA027] $12.25
RELEASE DATE: 08-12-2008
Deep techno with dub and IDM melodic flourishes with beautifully
processed
sounds. México's Cubenx is the new face of Techno who recently
signed into
Paris' Infiné recordings. Buy if you like intelligent techno a la
Kompakt.
Death In June - The World That Summer CD (Nerus) [BADVC9/20CD]
$11.25
"Available separately for the first time are the six bonus songs from
The
World That Summer, re-recorded in 1989 and 2006.
Dusk + Blackdown - Margins Music CD (Keysound Recordings)
[LDN006CD] $14.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-22-2008
Welcome to Margins Music, the debut album from London-based production
duo
Dan Frampton and Martin Clark aka Dusk + Blackdown. Following a series of
12"s released on their own Keysound Recordings label, Margins Music takes
the listener beyond what can be defined as simply grime or dubstep - it
further pushes their pioneering vision of the genre - while at the same
time being firmly rooted in their native London sound. And there's enough
knowledge of the street to satisfy fans of Roll Deep, Kode9, Skream, and
Pinch.
Eden Express - Que Amors Que CD (Holy Mountain) [HOLY7929]
$13.25
EDEN EXPRESS is a trio comprised of KIP UHLHORN (CLOUDLAND CANYON),
KELLY
UHLHORN, and JOHN DAVID LOVELACE. Their debut is a lush, tropical album
formed by a decadent love of drink, the non-erotic possibilities of
equestrian ownership, and a finely tuned sense of the dark supernatural
side of things. It's like castle rock with warm, white sand beaches! While
most groups form to play together with recording an eventual if somewhat
unnecessary goal, Eden Express was formed to record this album first and to
become a band second. That they so wildly succeed is a testament to the
magic used and manipulated here. The witchy beauty of Eden Express recalls
Pan y Regalis, Charlie and Esdor, and early tropicalia albums. Pour
yourself and a friend some cocktails, sit by the pool, and try to become
lucid as your bare, tanned forearms grow beyond 17 feet long.
Final Solution, The - Brotherman OST CD (Numero Group)
[NUMERO022CD] $14.50
"Continuing a tradition that began with Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss
Song,
and culminated with Shaft and Superfly, Brotherman was a blaxploitation
film set to hit screens in 1975. Prior to the script being finished, the
producers commissioned an original sound track to be performed by The Final
Solution, a fledgling vocal group from Chicago's west side.
G.F. Fitz-Gerald & Lol Coxhill - Echoes of Duneden CD (Reel
Recordings) [REELR003CD] $17.75
"Gerry F. Fitz-Gerald is a Scottish-born guitarist, possessed with
kaleidoscopic imagination and commanding ability for improvisational music
conversation. Lol Coxhill is a British legend, internationally recognized
for his inimitable soprano saxophone sounds and situational performance
art. These master tapes present Lol's soprano saxophone and Gerry's
electric guitar with great accuracy and presence. This is eccentric
music-making, presented as `Three Fairy Dances,' brimming with buoyancy and
painted with cohesive sound colors. Echoes of Duneden invites an intimate
experience to the open-hearted listener."
Grievous Angel - Belief Is The Enemy 2CD (Elektrik Dragon
Records) [ELEKD002CD] $21.00

Hulk - Rise of a Mystery Tide CD (Osaka) [OSAKA009CD]
$16.50
No description available at this time.
iTAL TEK - Cyclical CD (Planet Mu) [ZIQ203] $13.25
Cyclical is the debut full-length from iTAL TEK, (aka ALAN MYSON of
Brighton). After massive 12-inch releases on Planet Mu and SQR last year,
the man returns with an album's worth of moody yet beautiful dubstep with
swooning chords underpinned by a techy undercarriage. "[Bloodline] is the
perfect introduction to his 'darker' sound, and as the rest of the scene
moves into a more 4/4 direction, we see iTAL tEK taking things into the
basement and adding a sizable chunk of noise into his productions. It
reminds me of when the whole Renegade Hardware sound took hold of drum 'n'
bass, and that's no bad thing--there's always space for growling distortion
and a bad attitude in my mind. I guess Vex'd and more recently Cloaks have
approached this sound, but iTAL tEK brings enough variation to make this
12-inch stand out, and far from merely exploring a bit these tracks have
some serious bass weight. You know what to do--bring the
darkness!"--Boomkat . No exports to the UK, Europe, or Australia
Jens Zimmermann - C30 2x12 inch (International Freakshow)
[IF006LP] $21.00
No description available at this time.
Jimmy Cake, The - Sceptre & Crown CD (Pilatus) [PIL004CD]
$16.50
"The Jimmy Cake are a nine-piece ensemble from Dublin, and Sceptre and
Crown is their first album in five years.
Kangding Ray - Automne Fold CD (Raster Music) [RASTER094CD]
$16.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-22-2008
Following his highly successful debut Stabil, Kangding Ray (David
Letellier) releases his second full-length record on Raster-Noton, entitled
Automne Fold. With this release, Letellier has evolved from the quiet,
pristine flow of his debut record to sounds that are raw, dark and organic.
Pulsating rhythms become lost within walls of saturated strings, words are
spoken over bowed acoustic guitars, and analog synths collide with urban
field recordings.
Last Days of the Bad Men - Ride! CD (DHD) [DHDLBM1] $11.50
An international all-star punk/rock band with members of well known
bands,
residing in different geographical locations--DENIZ TEK (RADIO BIRDMAN),
SCOTT MORGAN (SILVER CHAIR), ART and STEVE GODOY (ex-pro skateboarders,
world famous tattoo artists, and founders of Orange County's EXPLODING
FUCKDOLLS), DANNY CREADON (CURB SLAPPYS), and TROY ZAK (DARKEST OF THE
HILLSIDE THICKETS, DAGGERS). Ride! is a very strong follow up to their
2007 debut Nowhere is Safe. Nerve Magazine exclaimed, "The Last of the Bad
Men bring forth an offering of apocalyptic punk rock that is fueled by
adrenaline and delivered with necessity."
Latinsizer - 110 CD (Static Discos) [STA028] $12.25
RELEASE DATE: 08-12-2008
Electronic disco pop digitalized with analog machines. Latinsizer is
Pepe
Mogt, one of the main engines of the Nortec Collective (Fussible). 110 is

of electro songs and neu-disco anthems.
Lawrence English - Kiri No Oto CD (Touch) [TONE031CD]
$14.75
RELEASE DATE: 07-22-2008
Lawrence English is a media artist, composer and curator based in
Brisbane,
Australia. Working across a broad range of aesthetic investigations,
English's work is eclectic and characterizes a long-term exploration into
various themes including audio/visual environments, found sound/vision,
subtle transformation of public space and sonic artworks that exist at the
very edge of perception. The sounds sources for Kiri No Oto emanate from
both instruments and found sound, with recordings on this edition made in
Poland, New Zealand, Australia and Japan.
Lazy Magnet - He Sought For That Magic... CD (Corleone)

The first solo official non-CDR full-length by this genius. JEREMY
HARRIS
how to read and write sheet music on this one so that the whole band can
keep up. A frantic ADD-riddled infusion of Fantomas, French pop,
Bollywood, Yes riffs, noise garble, weird Americana folk and
Dio-meets-Thrones rock. Includes contributions from members of BLACK
FOREST/BLACK SEA, XEREXES, WINDUPBIRD, USAISAMONSTER, CRUDEHILL, URDOG,
MANBEARD, WORK/DEATH, AWESOME BROTHERS, WHAT CHEER? BRIGADE, SHV, WHITE
MICE, VVLTVRE, and more. F*** yeah.
Lou
Lou & The Guitarfish - Lou Lou & The Guitarfish CD (Birdman) [BMR108]
$13.25
This colorful, charismatic group of youth, featuring GEORGE and LOU LOU
ROSENTHALL, the children of HANK RANK (CRIME), has been blasting around San
Francisco since elementary school, honing a diet of Blondie, New York
Dolls, The Ramones, The Racanteurs--you name it. After two years of
pre-production, LOU LOU AND THE GUITARFISH's self-titled debut record was
recorded in two days, and it cuts and scrapes through the speaker with the
reckless abandon of Iggy Pop and a full jar of peanut butter. The band is
wise beyond their years, showing the guitar swagger of a seasoned swinger
and vocals that are as self-assured as the subject matter. These kids want
to be heard, and they will get your attention any way they can. Raised in a
museum of music and wonderments, home-schooled on the life of an
artist/musician, they play their version of powerful rock with a style
similar to pre-junk Thunders and with lyrics as biting as Patti Smith
(check out "Hit Me"). No exports to the UK/Europe
Machinefabriek - Mort Aux Vaches CD (Staalplaat) [MAVMF]
$19.75
No description available at this time.
Machinefabriek + Stephen Vitiello - Box Music CD (12K)
[12K048CD] $12.25
"Rutger and Stephen sort of accidentally met through e-mail. A simple
note
regarding an ordering question for a CD led to an enthusiastic e-mail
conversation and climaxed in a musical collaboration. This all happened in
a very short period, both musicians being very inspired by the concept of
`exchange,' as a means to cross space and time - Rutger living in the
Netherlands and Stephen in Virginia. Most of the time, when (electronic)
musicians work together, it's a matter of swapping digital files. In this
case they decided to do something different and sent each other a box full
of (mostly non-musical, or musically non-functional) objects and
recordings, with the `assignment' to make music with those objects and all
as source materials. As the titles tell, we're talking about an egg cutter,
thumb piano, a broken Kraakle box, rice, chocolate sprinkles, old cassette
tapes, a broken 7" record, etc . Both musicians made two of their own solo
tracks with the box they received, and the last track was done together by
Rutger adding sounds and processing to a piece started by Stephen. For
Rutger/Machinefabriek, this is part of his most delicate work. For Stephen,
it was a new and extremely enjoyable form of long-distance collaboration."
Mahmoud Refat - Mort Aux Vaches CD (Staalplaat) [MAVMR]
$19.75

My
Brightest Diamond - A Thousand Shark's Teeth CD (Asthmatic Kitty) [AKR046]
$13.25
Charming, playful, daring, foreboding, graceful, eclectic, exciting and
visceral: these are all the first words that come to mind after a full
listen through A Thousand Shark's Teeth. Originally meant to be a more
classical, string quartet affair, the work slowly evolved and refined
itself over a period of six years. The record, which was mixed by HUSKY
HOSKULDS (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello), was recorded in Berlin, Los Angeles
and New York City, and features twenty different players all contributing
little bits of musical magic. Influenced by artists such as Tricky, French
composer Maurice Ravel and Tom Waits, in addition to the star exploration
themes of Anslem Kiefer's paintings, the imaginary landscapes of
photographer Robert ParkeHarrison, films by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and Alice
in Wonderland, A Thousand Shark's Teeth is a musical snowglobe that
sparkles each time you touch it. The songs marry vast
instrumentation--marimbas, harps, clarinets, French horns, rabid guitars,
vibraphones to name a few--to create an unequaled amalgamation of style and
color.
Noyes Brothers, The - Sheep From Goats 2CD (Boutique) [BOU6615]
$17.25
RELEASE DATE: 09-15-2008
The Boutique Label presents the first ever CD reissue of Sheep From
Goats

collectible Object Music label. The Noyes Brothers were Steve Solamar of
cult band Spherical Objects and Steve Miro, who also recorded as a solo
artist for Object. The album (a double set) as recorded between October
1979 and May 1980 at Graveyard Studios, and contain 100 minutes of
experiments and improvisations, ranging from Eno-esque electronics to
improvisation and side-long excursions such as A Good Question and It
Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time. Released in July 1980 in a limited
edition of 1000 copies, it sounds like little else recorded before or
since. Pioneering Manchester label Object Music ceased operations in 1981,
after Steve Solamar resolve a lifelong contradiction by becoming a woman.
As part of this process Solamar even destroyed his own mastertapes, and
since then the Object catalogue has languished in undeserved obscurity
(with the exception of The Passage). However an Object anthology has now
been released as part of the Auteur Labels series on LTM, as well as the
complete Spherical Objects back catalogue on CD. The artist formerly known
as Steve Solamar is alive and well, and lives a happy spiritual and musical
life. Steve Miro resides in Glastonbury. Also available: Spherical Objects

Further Ellipses / No Man's Land (BOUCD 6616), Various : Auteur Labels:

"Reel Recordings has meticulously remastered and edited 40 minutes of
explosive and exploratory episodes of moments frozen in time. With friends
in tow, the extant recordings of Gary and Pam Windo soaring in

and passion."
Pelt - Dauphin Elegies CD (VHF) [VHF112] $12.00
The first new studio recordings from PELT in three years picks up where
2005's Untitled CD leaves off--delivering massive slabs of heavy,
all-acoustic drone action. "Waning Crescent" is an ominous workout for
three large gongs, rich with overtones and subsonic rumble. "Fire Signs
Along the Field" offers a slightly jarring quartet of spare string noise,
with NATHAN BOWLES (BLACK TWIGS, SPIRAL JOY BAND) sitting in on double
bass. "Cast Out to Deep Waters" is an immense 30-minute epic in the vein of
Empty Bell Ringing in the Sky and Untitled's "I" that fits into the
archetypical classics in the Pelt canon. The all-too-brief "Crown of
Comets" closes the CD with the chiming, overlapping ring of bells recorded
in Virginia's Falls Ridge caves.
Ponytail - Ice Cream Spiritual CD (We Are Free) [WRF005]
$13.25
PONYTAIL is a baby-faced foursome of bright, noodly guitars, thrashed
drums, otherworldly mewling, and an ineffable joyousness that bubbles ups
like pop rocks in a glass of cola. Features DUSTIN WONG of ECSTATIC
SUNSHINE. "Ice Cream Spiritual is full contact aerobics. Its a hedonistic
whirlwind for your ears and body. Ice Cream Spiritual is the exorcism your
stiff loins have been waiting for. Randomly put together in a class
experiment, the four members of Baltimore's PONYTAIL have stumbled onto
what will be one of the top albums of 2008."
Ray
Russell - Secret Asylum CD (Reel Recordings) [REELR005CD] $17.75
"Ray Russell is a composer whose wild explorations and sonic extensions
of
the electrified guitar set him aside from the famed British guitar heroes
of the late `60s and `70s. Ray's rhythm and blues roots with The John Barry
Seven, Georgie Fame, and the Graham Bond Organisation were set aside by the
urgent call of the free jazz movement. As always, percussionist Alan
Rushton batters beyond belief alongside the darting double bass of Daryl
Runswick, with Harry Beckett playing inimitable figurines from his
flugelhorn. The quintet is finalized by tenor titan Gary Windo who gives
the last word in whirlwind intensity. Throughout the journey, Secret Asylum
presents sonic caresses and searing assaults from all its featured
participants, and its success has yet to be equalled."
Ryan Auffenberg - Marigolds CD (Evangeline) [EV0007] $12.50
Born in Jefferson City, Missouri, an area made famous by the exploits
of
one Mr. Thomas Howard, aka Jesse James, RYAN AUFFENBERG has, in his own
peculiar way way, retained a bit of mystery that is somewhat akin to that
of the infamous anti-hero. It's not in his personality or even in the songs
he writes, records, and performs, but rather the sheer fact that a young
man of 26 can write with the depth of human understanding and mine the
American spiritual landscape in a way that few others can. Ryan's debut LP,
Marigolds, is a masterwork of deserted beauty, presenting a palate of songs
ranging from the deeply melancholic to the hopeful-yet-realistic. He is
capable of melding the beauty of records like Beck's Sea Change and the
lyricism of Sam Beam and Conor Oberst while maintaining a definitive sound
and voice all is own. Based out of San Francisco for the past several
years, Ryan has worked with many of the city's indie rock luminaries while
having toured extensively and shared the stage with such notables as Mark
Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon), Laura Veirs, Willy Mason and the Watson Twins.
Ryoji Ikeda - Test Pattern CD (Raster Music) [RASTER093CD]
$16.00
Following 2005's Dataplex CD on Raster-Noton, Test Pattern is the
second
audio release in Ryoji Ikeda's multimedia project, Datamatics, an ongoing
exploration of the potential to perceive the invisible multi-substance of
data that permeates our world. Test Pattern acts as a system that converts
any type of data (text, sounds, photos and movies) into barcode patterns
and binary patterns of 0s and 1s. A sticker on the CD jacket warns of high
volume listening as this may cause damage to equipment and eardrums.
Saturday Knights - Mingle CD (Light In The Attic) [LITA035]
$12.25
Three-piece hip hop slash trailer park pop-punk band THE SATURDAY
KNIGHTS
have gotten mountains of press and mega-pixels of blogging since their
beloved 2007 EP. On their full-length debut, Mingle, they present a dash of
psych on tracks like the genre-busting "Dog Park," and the Afro-funk of
"Patches," their seductive collaboration with THE DAP-KINGS. SOUNDGARDEN's
KIM THAYIL adds some spazzed out guitar on the blazing rock anthem "I Go,"
while JACK ENDINO pumps the drums on a new mix of the underground radio hit
"45." Going dirty South old-school style, the group employs the legendary
MUSCLE SHOALS HORNS on "Count It Off."
Sigillum S - Terro Auto-obstetrics CD (Bloodlust) [B!108]
$10.25
Released to coincide with the very first USA SIGILLUM S show in the
Italian
post-industrial audio project's 20-plus year history, this EP pulls
together four songs originally released on AWB Recordings: "Terror
Auto-Obstetrics" and "Transkathartick Endoscopy" (7-inch, 1990), "Suck
Inside Thee Ov Bulb" (Effete compilation cassette, 1988), and "Purulence
Peaks, Hairy Knobs, And Death Disturbances" (Private Thoughts compilation
cassette, 1991). The tracks were remastered by band member ERALDO
BERNOCCHI. Sigillum S's ongoing explorations of forbidden areas of the
subconscious yields alien electronic mutations that merge concrete noise
research with acoustic transmigration, while visuals and other media
achieve maximum interaction intensity.
SJ
Esau - Small Vessel CD (Anticon) [ABR0085] $13.25
On his second album for Anticon, Bristolian rock collagist SJ ESAU, or
SAM
WISTERNOFF, tightens his playful, genre-bounding compositions even as a
cast of collaborators amplifies his singular vision. While 2007's Wrong
Faced Cat Feed Collapse smartly played to its own contrasts, Small Vessel
melds diverse moods and styles into a buoyant, bold, and cohesive album
both utterly post-modern and curiously epic despite its humble means. Small
Vessel's songs are wholly pretty and do not shying from their disparate
origins, and lyrics that loom large even as they focus on earthly details.
No exports to Canada or Japan. LP version forthcoming.
Teenage Film Stars - Star CD (Artpop!) [ARTPOP13] $15.00

Records release Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. Three months later
Creation Records release Star by Teenage Filmstars. Rumoured to have been
recorded by an aggregation of various Teenage Fanclubbers and Bloody
Valentiners, this mysterious album had journalists and pop stars from
Britain and America fascinated by its sound. Wherever My Bloody Valentine
have roared throughout the universe the Teenage Filmstars echo has
followed, but not blindly. Where the MBV sound is the well-controlled
experiment from the lab, the Teenage Filmstars set their rocket to unknown
planets - what is Star? An alchemist s philosophy stone thrown
surreptitiously into space? It was in fact, the work of one Edward Ball, in
between label duties for Creation Records and recording for the label. The
Master Of Brinkmanship, as one taste maker of the time described him. This
reissue features four previously unreleased extra tracks, including an
early version of Edward Ball's hit single "Love Is Blue"(!). The 16-page
booklet contains a dissertation of Creation period Edward Ball '88 to '91
by Edward Ball 2008, with full production notes and anecdotes about the
label. Lavishly illustrated throughout.

New ESP-Disk signing, recordings from 2007. "TOTEM> is a benchmark in
the
world of experimental sound and contemporary improvisation. TOTEM> is a
noise rock/free improvisation trio that ventures from walls of sound to
exploring microscopic sound worlds. With guitarist Bruce Eisenbeil, bassist
Tom Blancarte and drummer Andrew Drury, this trio makes music that is
fresh, uncategorizable, and at the frontiers of understanding. TOTEM> has
been influenced by adverse circumstances, extremes, paradoxes and
technology - both primitive and futuristic."

Wold - Stratification CD (Profound Lore) [PFL035] $12.00
Not only is WOLD among Canada's most notorious, provocative, and
recognized
black metal outfits, they are one of the most unique, surreal, and bizarre
extreme music bands in the underground today. By melding the primitive and
raw aspects of black metal and noise, Wold have established quite a
reputation. Treading wholly in their own realm, untouched by others, the
band creates a sound unlike anything else; they have provoked and confused,
while at the same time critics hail them as one of the most important acts
in black metal. Through waves of distorted noise, layers of buzzsaw guitar
fuzz, hypnotic trance loops, and harsh screaming, Stratification takes
Wold's brand of philosophical black metal terror to a new level that
penetrates ever deeper within the psyche of the North American black metal
scene. Not for the weak at heart, the album depicts the wrath of the
violent, desolate winters that plague the prairie lands where the band
dwells--a work of victorious, elite black metal art No exports to Canada or
the UK
Woodbox Gang - Drunk As Dragons CD (Alternative Tentacles)
[VIRUS387] $13.25
Alternative Tentacles unearths the WOODBOX GANG, yet another
avant-Americana gem for their trophy case of stellar American roots acts.
The Woodbox Gang sprang from Vulture Valley (we kid you not!) in Southern
Illinois, a land of swampy forests, coal mines, and festering religious
conservatism cradled by the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. They combine the
roots music tools of trade--guitar, mandolin, lap steel, and the
fiddle--with unconventional instruments like the didgeridoo, or just
jur-rig whatever's at hand (a saw, a suitcase) to make music out of it.
While Drunk as Dragons is a sure bet for fans of Slim Cessna and our other
Denver acts, the Woodbox Gang sound has a more desolate, outlaw twist:
after all, Southern Illinois has a history as a gangster hideout and
secessionist threat to Honest Abe.

new album, will be released on 30th June, their most excitimg so far, which
will include an extra DVD featuring a documentary about the band in their
10th anniversary, at the price of a single CD. Before they start writing
new material for their fifth album, due out in 2009, they have decided to
look back on their influences by compiling the different versions they have
recorded in the past (most of them unavailable at the moment) and recording
five new covers of some of their most influential artists, such as Galaxie
500, Yo La Tengo, Nick Cave, The Smiths, The Dream Syndicate, The Velvet
Underground or The Small Faces. What's the meaning behind a record like
"Feedback"? Looking back at your past achievements as a band can feel a bit
smug, after all. Fortunately, some artists do it with from a different
angle, and set off on a journey to annalyse how experience has enriched
them, while advancing at the same time. Others focus on getting to know
themselves better, so as to understand, and even rediscover, their own
selves. That's where the importance of "Feedback" lies: it's a remembrance
via the bands that Polar have loved, to establish where and who they
currently are. A collection of songs which mean a lot to them and which
have turned them into today's Polar, ranging from the early days of
admiration for Galaxie 500, of slowcore, silence and slowness, to their
more recent encounter with intense, noisy rock (watch out for their next
album, due out next year--). "Feedback" Part I is a compilation of songs
scattered among limited edition records, collaborations with other labels,
foreign affairs, and released in chronological order, which is completed
with five unreleased songs, and which confirms the band as music lovers,
essentially. This record, therefore, comes out of respect, and the need for
creation and expression, and also as a coming to terms with themselves,
their influences and the way they work as musicians and music writers
(isn't recreation another way of creating after all?). After 14 years,
Polar have established themselves as the most solid exponent of slowcore in
Spain. From subtlety to distortion, from melancholy to euphoria, from
melody to noise, Polar are right now one of the most important bands of the
Spanish independent scene. But "Feedback" also features Part II, a DVD
which complements Part I perfectly. A DVD, which will include "Home", a
documentary about the band filmed by Pau Martínez and Gabi Ochoa
during the
recording of Polar's album "Comes with a smile" to celebrate the 10th
anniversary of the band. The 90-minute long film was showed on the Cinema
Jove Festival of Valencia and the Gijón Cinema Festival. It's an
intimate
portrait of the band's way of life and their collaboration with music peers
(The Zephyrs, Lou Anne...), and features interviews with prestigious music
journalists. All in all, a documentary worth of Polar's brilliant career
and talent.

CD (Paradigm Discs) [PD06] $15.00
Beyond the Black Crack was originally released in mono in an edition of
200
copies (Cavern Custom 1976) in commemoration the First Annual End of the
World Celebration, November 18 1976. This little known classic, one of the
most unique listening experiences in modern experimental music, was
conceptualized by legendary musician, filmmaker, Doctor of Metaphysics and
minister in the Universal Church of Life. Recorded between 1974 and 1976 in
locations as diverse as factories and the pyramid opposite Harry Truman's
grave site (as well as more "conventional" concert settings), Beyond the
Black Crack is a dark, dizzying and exhilarating journey through free jazz,
electronics and environmental sound, all shattered by DWIGHT FRIZZELL's
radical tape editing. This CD adds further material to the original LP: a
previously unheard suite from 1977 called "The Wandering Madness of
Basilea" and more unreleased material from the Black Crack sessions.

Gale Garnett and the Gentle Reign - Gale Garnett And The Gentle
Reign CD (Rev-Ola) [CRREV257] $15.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-28-2008
Like a lot of folk-pop performers who began their careers in the early-
to-mid-'60s, by the end of the decade Gale Garnett seemed to have drifted
into the rock and psychedelic scene, hooking up with the band The Gentle
Reign to cut these two bizarre albums for CBS. Singer, journalist, actress
(from cult 60s movie Mad Monster Party to My Big Fat Greek Wedding), star
of Scopitones (check Youtube for some delights!), Gale Zoe Garnett is a
marvel and a one-off. Listening to this album one has to wonder who is she
taking on here? Bobby Gentry with her smoky voice and good looks, Grace
Slick with her swooping rock stylings, or even Frank Zappa with the
satirical tone and radio acting? Gale Garnett is a law unto herself.
Rev-Ola is proud to bring you her two ndeservedly obscure late 60s albums
with The Gentle Reign, a mere smidgen of the woman s immense and unique
talent. ** Re-mastered in top Rev-Ola style by Norman Studio 3 Blake and
with beautiful repackaging for a beautiful lady! ** Includes both amazing
albums in their entirety! ** A must for all fans of out-there psych, sexy
femme pop, avant-garde stylings and cult 60s artefacts!
Gary McFarland & Gabor Szabo - Sketch For Summer CD (Él)
[ACMEM148CD] $15.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-21-2008
Though they came from radically different cultures and found their way
into
jazz via widely divergent routes, Gabor Szabo and Gary McFarland formed an
all-too brief working relationship that produced a spectacular range of
solo and collaborative works spanning jazz, bossa nova, psychedelia, Indian
raga, Hungarian folk, orchestral and film music. Focusing on the
mid-sixties years with Prestige, Verve and Impulse, this edition comprises
highlights from Gypsy 66, Spellbinder, Jazz Raga, The Sorcerer, Simpatico,
The In Sound, Scorpio and Other Signs and McFarland's score for Eye of the
Devil and includes such impossible rarities as Gary's characteristically
serene performances of Margo Guryan's Rivergirl and The Dreamer by Antonio
Carlos Jobim.
Giuseppi Logan - Quartet CD (ESP-Disk) [ESPDISK1007CD]
$12.75

record his first album for the newly-formed ESP-Disk label. Bernard
Stollman discovered Giuseppi and others who would form the nucleus of his
label at the October Revolution Concert of 1964. For the recording,
Giuseppi chose friends and fellow music companions Don Pullen and Milford
Graves, and added bassist extraordinaire Eddie Gomez. The session is rich
with imagination, and added to the dimension of musicians who would become
the roster of ESP-Disk. Research and accurate session date information and
analog tape transfer by Michael D. Anderson."
Glenn Branca - Symphony No. 5 CD (Atavistic) [ALP15] $14.00
AVAILABLE AGAIN!!! "Glenn's music is quite often inaccurately described
as
wall-of-sound/ noise/ guitars/whatever. A wall exists for the purpose of
containment. 'No. 5' is expansive beyond limits, smashing the wall (at
least sonically) between this dimension & all others. There is quite
audibly the garblings of the voices of alien intelligences banging at the
doors of our world as we dream of theirs."--Forced Exposure
Gregg Bendian Interzone - Requiem For Jack Kirby CD (Atavistic)
[ALP125] $14.00
AVAILABLE AGAIN!!! A musical tribute to one of the 20th Century's most
influential and important visual artists JACK "THE KING" KIRBY--creator and
co-creator of comic book legends Captain America, The Fantastic Four, The
Hulk, Spiderman, Silver Surfer, Thor, and a myriad of others--by composer
and percussionist GREGG BENDIAN. Joined by NELS and CLINE, Bendian reflects
the dramatic, sumptuously colorful, archetypically violent, lyrically
beautiful, and always bizarre sci-fi world of Kirby's art with cinematic,
orchestral, and almost operatic sounds played on vibraphone, guitar, and
percussion.
Henry Grimes Trio - The Call CD (ESP-Disk) [ESPDISK1026CD]

"As one of the most recorded bassists in the ESP-Disk catalog, Henry
Grimes
made his debut on ESP with Perry Robinson on clarinet, lending his unique
Klezmer approach to the New Music. This adventurous album is motivating and
inviting to the listener, and falls into the diversity of the ESP-Disk
catalog."
Holy Modal Rounders, The - Indian War Whoop CD (ESP-Disk)
[ESPDISK1068CD] $12.75

culture
and the ever-growing New York underground music scene with the likes of
David Peel & the Lower East Side, The Velvet Underground, The Godz, The
Fugs, and the Holy Modal Rounders. The music is reflective of the time, and
would prove to be the setting of a musical foundation for the group."

Keith - The Adventures Of Keith CD (RPM) [RETRO833] $16.50
RELEASE DATE: 07-28-2008
Keith scored a massive worldwide hit in 1967 with the record 98.6,
which
featured on our release Keith Ain't Gonna Lie (RPM 273), and is the subject
of an entire column in this months Mojo Magazine. We are pleased to present
Keith s 1969 self penned LP, The Adventures of Keith, which is reissued for
the first time, and is also on CD for the first time. A striking set which
tells the story of a boy, Charley Cinders, who is born [Waiting to Be];
he's blind [Alone On The Shore]; the trials and tribulations he has to deal
with [Marstrand, China Clipper, The Problem, Elea-Elea, Trixon's Election]
and ultimately his own demise [Charley Cinders]. In production the music
speaks loudly of Keith's British pop influences and the arrangements twist
and turn in such a way that they could only be from a songwriter enthralled
with Sgt Pepper. All of which explains why The Adventures Of Keith fell
through the cracks in mainstream 1969 America, only to become a highly
sought-after soft rock collectable in recent years. Full story inside from
a new interview with Keith (aka Barry Keefer).
Ken
Hyder's Talisker - Dreaming of Glenisla CD (Reel Recordings) [REELR004CD]
$17.75
"In 1975, Talisker recorded their debut album, the breathtakingly
beautiful
Dreaming of Glenisla, which was released on the Virgin subsidiary, Caroline
Records. By turns serene and sensuous, impassioned and celebratory, this
magnificent marriage of musical styles ultimately proves seamless. However,
Dreaming of Glenisla's success was more than musical; with micro and
macro-dynamics gloriously preserved, it stands among the finest acoustic
recordings of its generation. This long-awaited reissue of Ken Hyder's
classic album is augmented with previously unreleased studio recordings of
his grand quintet, Talisker."
Kevin Ayers - The BBC Sessions 1970-1976 2CD (Hux) [HUX073CD]
$25.75
"This 2CD set of BBC radio sessions, compiled with the help of Kevin
Ayers,
tracks Kevin's discography from 1970 (when his band included his former
Soft Machine friends) through to 1976."
Kevin Ayers and the Whole World - Hyde Park Free Concert 1970
CD (Reel Recordings) [REELR002CD] $17.75
"Arguably, few other groups from this era offered such eclectic musical
experiences and personalities, occasioned by legendary lapses of public
professionalism. Restored as fully as possible from a two-track copy, Hyde
Park Free Concert 1970 is presented with the fond endorsement of a former
festival Jester."
Kid
Montana - Temperamental + Singles CD (LTM) [LTM2516] $16.50
RELEASE DATE: 08-11-2008
LTM is pleased to announce a double CD set from Kid Montana, the
Belgian
electronic pop duo who recorded a string of acclaimed releases for chic
label Les Disques du Crepuscule between 1984 and 1987. Temperamental +
Singles gathers together the Temperamental album from 1986 with six track
mini-album The Las Vegas Gold Rush and singles such as Revisiting Yalta,
Spooky, Love May Be Blind and Still Colour Waiting. Featured producers
include Marc Moulin and dan Lacksman (of Telex) and Gilbert Lederman
(Berntholer). Digitally remastered, the 31 track, 2 hour 2xCD compilation
also includes all tracks from the rare debut ep Today from 1982, and three
tracks from a final unreleased demo recorded in 1987. The CD also includes
MPEG versions of the video clips for Still Color Waiting and Spooky,
directed by Serge Bergli. Artist biography: Kid Montana was initially the
nom de guerre of Jean-Marc Lederman, formerly keyboard player with Digital
Dance and Fad Gadget. After an experimental debut EP on Sandwich Records in
1982, Lederman spent time in London playing with The The and Gene Loves
Jezebel, before recruiting American-born singer Dudley Kludt for the second
Kid Montana single, Revisiting Yalta, in 1984. The following year the duo
signed with Les Disques du Crepuscule, releasing a run of sophisticated
electro-pop records, although mainstream success eluded them. The duo split
in 1987, Lederman afterwards recording several hard electronic albums with
The Weathermen, and with Julianne Regan as Jules et Jim. Also available
from LTM: B9: Belgian Cold Wave 1979-83 (LTMCD 2486).
Lollipop Shoppe, The - Just Colour CD (Rev-Ola) [CRREV256]
$15.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-28-2008
One of the MUST HAVE Garage Rock classics! Originally known as The
Weeds
and featuring Fred "Deep Soul" Cole, The Lollipop Shoppe sound amazingly
modern! After The Weeds signed to UNI Records, their new manager, the
infamous "Lord" Tim Hudson, insisted they change their name to The Lollipop
Shoppe to fit in with the current trend of bizarrely named bubblegum
groups. The band's actual recordings are hardly bubblegum, but instead a
mix of crunching garage rock and wild psychedelia. The album and its
single, You Must Be a Witch, are period classics and still prized by
collectors, though neither made the charts. The band opened for stars such
as Janis Joplin and The Doors, and appeared in the biker movie Angels from
Hell. They were to regroup as The Weeds once out of "Lord" Tim's clutches,
and Fred Cole was to lead cult band Dead Moon. But it is for this, the
classic Just Colour, that The Lollipop Shoppe are justly acclaimed. **
Wonderfully re-mastered in top Rev-Ola style and with lovely packaging that
features plenty of rare photos and memorabilia! ** Detailed liner notes by
Jon "Mojo" Mills, editor of Shindig! magazine! ** A must for all fans of
60s US garage and psychedelia and who isn't?!
Martha and the Muffins - Danseparc CD (Cherry Red) [CDMRED364]
$15.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-21-2008
Martha & The Muffins are one of Canada s most acclaimed and cherished
pop/rock bands, famed for their universal hit Echo Beach (the ode to office
escapism recently used as the title and theme song of the acclaimed 12-part
ITV serial). Danseparc is among their finest achievements, an album which,
on release in 1983, received substantial critical acclaim. See the
contemporaneous rave press notices below. It was the second of three albums
co-produced with the band by fellow Canadian Daniel Lanois, famous for his
work with U2, Bob Dylan, Brian Eno and many others. This is still Martha
Johnson s show, even when the songs are not, and it's her personality
reflected off the others that gives Danseparc the sort of sexual spark the
Au Pairs could only theorize. (JD Considine, MUSICIAN). Danseparc manages
to handily balance a playful sense of adventure with unforced pop naivete
and retain the band s unique vitality like XTC, these nimble Canadians
demonstrate that an irreverent intelligence needn't disqualify one from
playing in the major leagues. (MUSIC AND SOUND OUTPUT). Plenty of great
noise abounding here, especially on the aptly titled Obedience and the
bongo-driven Boys In The Bushes I am using you, am I amusing you? coos the
cucumberly Ms. Martha while keyboards swirl, guitars scratch and guest
saxophones wail all around. (CREEM) This deluxe reissue has been
re-mastered under the band's direct supervision. Mark Gane and Martha
Johnson have also overseen the artwork, which features lyrics to all the
songs plus a number of unpublished photos and video stills. There are also
three bonus tracks. The band will release a new album and tour later this
year, and will be available for interview by arrangement. Details at:

Matching Mole - On The Radio CD (Hux) [HUX083CD] $17.25
"On The Radio is a compilation of rare BBC recordings, including 3 John
Peel studio sessions and a live concert. The band includes Dave Sinclair
(ex-Caravan), Phil Miller (Hatfield & The North and National Health), Bill
MacCormick and Dave MacRae. This special digipack format features an
original cover photograph by Robert Wyatt, who also compiled the running
order."
Peter Brotzmann Group - For Adolphe Sax (1967) CD (Atavistic)
[ALP230] $14.00
A reissue of the out-of-print 1967 first album by German saxophonist
PETER
BROTZMAN, and the first installment in Atavistic's FMP Archive series. One
of the most auspicious debuts of free music, and a tribute to the inventor
of the saxophone, For Adolphe Sax's two extended tracks of kick-in-the face
European free jazz feature Broetzmann along with bassist PETER KOWALD and
drummer SVEN-AKE JOHANSSON. Includes a bonus, previously unreleased
nine-minute track recorded in the studios of Radio Bremen with pianist FRED
VAN HOVE joining the mix.
Q65
- Nothing But Trouble: The Best Of CD (Rev-Ola) [CRREV258] $15.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-28-2008
From Den Haag (The Hague) in Holland, Q65 were among the country's
wildest
beat groups of the 1960s. Their firebrand approach to the beat and rhythm n
blues boom was the opposite of what most of the country's successful pop
group fraternity were putting over at the time; best represented with the
unpolished, raw intensity of "You're The Victor", their 1966 debut for
Decca which shook up the charts and caused shockwaves throughout the
nation's living rooms. They continued to crack the top end of the Dutch pop
charts with killer singles such as "The Life I Live", and "I Despise You";
took part in a crazy record company promotional stunt crossing the sea from
England in a rubber dinghy, and in Revolution, created one of the best
debut LPs of the era. The group split up early and although they would make
several comebacks as Q65, and also as Circus, and continue to make several
records well into the 1970s, the initial magic had gone. To this day the
power and impenetrable charm of the original Q65 remains unsurpassed. **
Visually re-mastered in the usual huge Rev-Ola style! ** Beautifully
packaged with oodles of rare photos and memorabilia! ** In-depth liner
notes by Sir Lenny Helsing with input from the band themselves! ** An
absolute 100% necessity for all fans of 60s garage, R & B, beat, psych and
Euro sounds. Unmissable!!
Robin Dransfield - A Lighter Touch 2CD (Hux) [HUX097CD]
$25.25
"Brothers Robin & Barry Dransfield joined together to form the British
folk
band the Dransfields in 1969. Turning down an offer to join the founding
line-up of Steeleye Span, the brothers toured for several years as a duo,
their shows including performances with Tom Paxton, Ewan MacColl, Martin
Carthy, and the Watersons. The brothers eventually went their separate ways
and Robin released his one and only solo LP, Tidewave, in 1980. Now
combining the first CD issue of that LP with a previously-unreleased solo
concert recorded in November 1972 at Medway Folk Club in England, this 2CD
set is a timely reminder of the brilliance of Robin Dransfield, a lost
giant of the early `70s English folk scene who has remained determinedly
inactive in music-making for over 20 years."
Soft Machine & Heavy Friends - BBC In Concert 1971 CD (Hux)
[HUX067CD] $17.25
"This is a live session recorded for the BBC at London's Paris Theatre
on
March 11, 1971. John Peel introduced the concert as being by `Soft Machine
and Heavy Friends.' This is a unique recording in that, for this BBC
session, the band augmented and fragmented and performed with other great
jazz musicians, including Ronnie Scott on tenor sax."
Sunforest - The Sound of Sunforest CD (Phoenix Records)
[ASH3025CD] $16.00
RELEASE DATE: 07-08-2008
Steeped in medieval and Renaissance sounds as well as pop, this U.S.
female
trio epitomized their generation's gleeful experimentalism. Recorded in
London's Olympic studios in two weeks in the autumn of 1969, their
wonderful album encompasses acid-tinged folk, riotous country, faux 1930s
balladry and psychedelic pop with strong melodies, striking vocal
harmonies, and immaculate arrangements.

with reality or drift off into fantasy. Soundtrack includes music by Vic
Chestnutt, The Mendoza Line, Julian Velard, and Adrian Grenier. Directed by
Adrian Grenier of HBO's Entourage.

1969 - Maya LP (Vinyl Summer) [VSR00701] $15.50
"1969, the indie rock side-project of BUTCH WALKER, MICHAEL GUY
CHISLETT
and DARREN DODD of the LET'S-GO-OUT-TONIGHTS fame, made their long-delayed
commercial debut on April Fool's Day with the release of the 13-track Maya.
As the major personality of the group, Butch does well to stay reserved and
resists stamping his authority all over the project. It feels like an
organic record, driven by the U2/New Order instrumentals composed by
guitarist Chislett (now a member of THE ACADEMY IS...) and the
lyrics/melodies of Walker, who moonlights as a bassist with surprisingly
funky results."

Channels - It's Gettin' Kinda Hectic Remixe 12 inch (Trapez) [TRAPEZ088EP]
$11.50
Following the international success of "It's Gettin' Kinda Hectic," off
of
their Bio 3000 release, this 12" comes with mixes by Mihalis Safras and
Dubticket. Safras' remix (mixed together with his friend Liberto), makes
the original sound like a techno classic - mature, big sounds, grand
production. On the flip is a modern minimal approach with a bass line that
is so fat and deep, that big sound systems will flood the dancefloor with
"hot air." Astounding.
Alva Noto - Unitxt LP (Raster Music) [RASTER095LP] $19.75

Carola Pisaturo - Delle Palme 12 inch (Adjunct) [ADJUNTILL013]
$10.25
"Carola was born in Rome and at the tender age of eight transported to
Naples, Italy with mom and dad. At eighteen she left home, traveled north
and began hanging out in the world of dance music, which introduced her to
electronic sounds. She was captivated. The sonority of these manipulated
compositions opened the port to an enchanted voyage, delicately preparing
for her debut. Her DJ carrier started in 1997, from that point on, Carola
plunged in compulsively exploring and experiencing sounds inspiring her
personal path. In 2002, she graduated in sound engineering and worked for
studio productions in Rome and Milan. Then, it was back to Naples. In her
apartment, she built a studio where her impulse twisted and shaped
ingenious sounds into her own sleek, funky style. After achieving her first
releases (Bush, Southsoul Records) in 2005 she set up Titbit Music, which
has rapidly become one of the `it' labels for funky, minimal techno. She
has also established the label Claque Musique and the net sister Claque Net
as a playground for both well-known artists and newcomers. Carola lives in
Naples, where she continues her exploration and love of release through
music. Adjunct has selected two out of a number of excellent tracks. Funky,
sleek and beautifully produced pieces accompanied by yet another bizarre
PSB remix."
Chic Miniature - Escandalo 12 inch (Crosstown Rebels)
[CRM042EP] $11.50
No description available at this time.
Claro Intelecto - Warehouse Sessions Volume 5 12 inch (Modern
Love) [LOVE044EP] $12.25
The fifth and final installment in Claro Intelecto's Warehouse
Sessions.
"Hunt You Down" is a shocking Maurizio-styled dub workout in 4/4 that's
sharp and deep, with stretched chords and metallic shards. Play this loud
and you will absolutely terrify yourself. "Momento" is a clanky jacker that
embodies the Warehouse aesthetic perfectly - like a classic Chicago
warehouse track modified for added low-end pressure. This series has ruled
our world, and it comes to an end showing its strongest hand.
Cloudland Canyon/Mythical Beast - Split LP (Not Not Fun)
[NNF122] $13.25
This fair pairing has been in the wings for a few years now, but
tripped
things come to those who wait, so better late-as-shit than never. Anyone
who's gotten lost in CLOUDLAND CANYON's latest, Lie In Light, knows this
duo is currently at the pinnacle of their potency, and their offering here
("Harvest Hunt") is a fantastic mechanical motorik ascent into symphonic
hypnosis. Comparisons to classic Teutonic psych outfits of yesteryear are
warranted but inadequate: this is music of today, for tomorrow. On the
flip, beloved Not Not Fun in-laws MYTHICAL BEAST return to the vinyl
spotlight with two luminous soul meditations conjured during the past
winter's gray maze of days. Both ballads burn with CORINNE's
voice-for-the-voiceless defiance, wind-draped and incensed by JEREMIAH and
AARON's 's subtle electric string energies. Naked music for open spaces,
empty skies, endless nights. High-audio 45 RPM LPs (NNF's first!) in
matte-jackets with cloud-skull artwork by Blackblack beauty DIVA DOMPE.
Limited edition of 415 copies.

Debris - Static Disposal LP (Anopheles) [ANOPH006LP] $19.75
"Anopheles Records is proud to announce a high quality, deluxe, tip-on
style heavy jacket sleeve edition of this 1976 acid-punk classic from
Oklahoma for 2008, with an additional two sided insert unique to this
edition, pressed on black vinyl for the first time since the original
pressing in 1976."

[DUBTING007EP] $11.00

DK7
- Fashion Feelings 12 inch (Output) [PRCS105T-EP] $10.75
This is the second single from DK7's album The Great Hunger, remixed by
pros. DK7 are Swedish/Irish DJ/producers Mark O'Sullivan and Jesper
Dahlbäck and this is a great taste of what's to come. Lifelike takes
chunks
of Mark's vocal and lays it over a French-electronic disco backing with
solid builds. Arveene & Misk strip it back, letting the fat
electro-flavored groove do all the work. Blackstrobe keeps it dark, heavy
and bleepy, and Tomas Almgren goes off on a pop/disco excursion.
Donovan Quinn & The 13th Month - Sister Alchemy 7 inch (Soft
Abuse) [sab027] $5.25
RELEASE DATE: 06-19-2008
After several years of writing & recording, Donovan Quinn (SKYGREEN
LEOPARDS) recently completed work on his proper debut, working as Donovan
Quinn & the 13th Month. Before we get too far into the LP's hows & whys,
we've got this single to serve as a taste of what will soon be. Sister
Alchemy appears on the forthcoming LP. The Rabbits Tracks, wherein DQ
channels Kris Kristofferson & Nikki Sudden with equal prejudice, is
exclusive to this release. NO UPC

Ellen Allien - Sool 2xLP (Bpitch Control) [BPC175LP] $17.25
Double LP version. Welcome once again to the Allien world: this one is
subtle, mysterious, and minimal. This could easily be Allien's most
intimate album yet: the sounds of everyday life and snatches of whispers
reveal themselves with field-recorded closeness, the beats are as soft and
as near as a heartbeat, ambient synth sounds are as long and spacious as an
arm stretching across a couch, and everything is arranged in exactly the
right place, as in a well-appointed parlor.
Ellen Allien - Sprung/Its 12 inch (Bpitch Control) [BPC176EP]
$11.50
After Ellen Allien's long-expected fourth solo album Sool, here is the
first 12'', which presents two tracks from the album in extended vinyl
versions. "Sprung" is characterized best by a permanent moving back and
forth.
Funckarma - Dubstoned EP 1 12 inch (Highpoint Lowlife)
[HPLL027] $10.25
RELEASE DATE: 07-07-2008
Dutch brothers Don and Roel Funcken unveiled their first Funckarma EP
in
1999 on D.U.B., since when they have unleashed a fury of releases on labels
including Neo Ouija, n5MD, U-Cover, and Hymen, as well as their prodigious
work under other guises such as Cane and Quench, and their collaborative
hip hop project Shadow Huntaz. Their signature bass-driven precision sound
compositions, encompassing influences from hip hop, jazz, reggae, dub, soul
and all forms of electronic music, are carefully crafted and constructed
into tight rhythmic forces with a keen ear for texture and structure. With
the global dubstep virus now infecting all forms of electronic music, it
was a natural evolution for the Funcken brothers to take strands of the
meme and splice it to the DNA of their own productions, creating a mutant
hybrid of lurching instrumental hip hop with floor shaking bass and super
punchy intricate razor sharp rhythms. The five-track 'Dubstoned EP 1' is
the first in a series of releases they have planned in this broad style,
and will be promoted with two rare UK appearances, one at Plastic People in
London and another at Bristol's The Cube Cinema, with support from
Hyperdub's Ikonika and Highpoint Lowlife's Fisk Industries.
Jackmate - Mont Blanc 12 inch (Phil E) [PHILE2007EP] $11.50
"Jackmate's return on Phil E records is a total understatement: `Mont
Blanc' feels like a sunrise with the beams of sonic rays atop of a
floating, intense drum track. Timeless techno one-sided! No wonder this
one is DJ Koze's favorite techno track at the moment."

King Darves - Sun Splits For... The Blind Swimmer LP (DeStijl)
[IND063] $14.00
NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! The bedrock of this NJ-based concoction is
based
in folk, but there's no headband and KING DARVES (ASPS, GORGOT, HUMAN ADULT
BAND) does not sing about pixies in the moss. This is somewhere between
rolled cigs and the foggy vision of Big Pink from somewhere on Jersey
Avenue. "An excursion into mountain man folk music, with a few surprises
thrown into the mix here and there," as Smooth Assailing puts it, "Pure and
earthy." This one-man Meat Puppets with a deep, rich voice has really
cobbled something together in his kitchen sink--a shocker, a pleaser, a
toe-tapper, a head-nodder.
Kleinschmager Audio - Audio2 12 inch (Rrygular) [RRY023EP]
$11.50
Kleinschmager Audio, the tool-techno project of Joern Kleinschmager and
Niklas Worgt, throws in the second part of their "audio" series. "Audio2"
is punchy, dynamic, and powerful, with peak-time character. "Emphasis" is
unquestionably deeper, even hypnotic. The warmth of the drum sounds has an
analog touch and is a suitable foundation for the organic development of
the spreading melodic phrases. Two proper DJ tools.

Lopazz - We Are 12 inch (Get Physical Music) [GPM091EP]
$12.25
Lopazz presents We Are, enlisting the remixing powers of Rex The Dog
and
Einzelkind. Rex works in fat analog bass, crazy acid lines and chopped-up
drums for an epic re-working - joyous, bug-eyed and maximal. Einzelkind
makes use of the original vocals, strapping them to a tough, taut,
tech-house progression, with ascending synth-hooks that recall `80s
electro-pop at its dystopian best. The original is dramatic and propulsive,
with emotive synths, a mutant R&B vocal, and electronic blips and bleeps.
Unmissable.
Luke Solomon - Robots 12 inch (Rekids) [REKIDS025EP] $10.75
This is the second outtake from Luke Solomon's critically-acclaimed
debut
artist album, The Difference Engine. Luke Solomon is the founder of Classic
Recordings, one of the ultimate UK house labels, with Derrick Carter.
"Robots" is one of the standout tracks from his album. The remix of
"Spirits" is from Prins Thomas, delivering an organic masterpiece.
Marascia - Rayn 12 inch (Gigolo) [GIGOLO228EP] $12.25
No description available at this time.
Marc Romboy - Contrast 2xLP (Systematic) [SYST007LP] $19.75
Double LP version. This is the second full-length release from
Systematic
founder, Düsseldorf's Marc Romboy. After collaborations with John
Dahlbäck,
Chelonis R. Jones, Jence and Zoo Brazil, Romboy released his debut artist
album Gemini in 2006 to great critical acclaim. Romboy has also released on
labels including Ovum, Simple, Brique Rouge, Superstition, 20: 20 Vision
and more. Contrast is produced in cooperation with 45 Rocks and brings
forth vocal collaborations with artists including Chelonis R. Jones, Blake
Baxter and Mr. K-Alexi. Embracing the concept of contrasts as part of a new
life philosophy, Romboy pits himself against sonorities that seem
antithetical to dance music, but flow in total symbiosis, embracing
difference.

Michaela Grobelny, aka MIA, presents her first release on Areal since
the
remix she did for Basteroid together with Falko Brocksieper. Available only
on red hot vinyl. Sleep deprivation is a cruel thing. I try to
concentrate. What did this guy say to me last night? Now I do remember.
Last night's discussion mixes with the passengers' babbling. I almost fall
asleep. I am flying.

Move D - Drøne 12 inch (Modern Love) [LOVE047EP]
$12.25
Move D puts forward the latest limited one-sided 12" on the Modern Love
label - and it's an absolute killer. Based around one long, forever
mutating drone, the track comes from David Moufang's hallowed KM20 vaults,
the place where he keeps his most devastating vintage analog material. What
starts out as a rugged, heaving wheeze of machinery slowly develops into a
scattered chug of fearless percussion and frayed engineering of the highest
caliber. Strictly limited pressing, and an essential purchase.

[ERATP004LP] $21.25
LP version. This is the debut release by Iceland's "lafur Arnalds and
the
first North American release for the London-based cinematic music label
Erased Tapes Records. Arnalds has immersed himself completely in the world
of delicate symphonic composition in a near-weightless orchestral
undertaking. Mixing strings with loops, ambience, electronics and beats,
Arnalds combines classical instrumentation with an indie-rock aesthetic
that draws comparison to Sigur Rós. Eulogy for Evolution is an
evocative,
orchestral suite that takes the listener on a journey, representing
different periods of life from birth to death through slow-building and
hauntingly melodic chamber music. It comes with a free download voucher for
the 11-track Erased Tapes Collection I compilation to celebrate the label's
1st anniversary. "lafur Arnalds and his live string quartet performed at
unique venues in the UK, including the oldest custom-built concert hall in
Europe, the Holywell Music Room in Oxford, before they continued playing
mostly sold-out shows throughout the rest of Europe. Over 500 people came
to see "lafur at the State-X Newforms Festival in Den Haag alongside Aphex
Twin, as well as at Iceland Airwaves with Amiina and Jóhann
Jóhannsson in
Brussels. He is already working on his second full-length record and a
string arrangement for Erased Tapes friends, 65daysofstatic.
Olafur Arnalds - Variations of Static 10 inch (Erased Tapes)
[ERATP008EP] $18.25
10" version. This is the follow-up EP to "lafur Arnalds' debut release
for
Erased Tapes, Eulogy for Evolution. While keeping the classical foundations
of his debut album, on Variations of Static, Arnalds incorporates crackling
electronics and the dead voice of a machine; like vague memories of a
tradition lost within the digital age we all live in.

Riley Reinhold - Balsamic Times 12 inch (My Best Friend)
[MBFLTD017] $11.50
Riley Reinhold continues his Cinematic Edition on MBF LTD with a new
3-tracker, Balsamic Times. This release builds on melodies and feelings
from certain periods of the `70s and `80s, showing moments of happiness and
joy, and living up to the concept of cinematic music. "Summer Heat" is a
melodramatic piece of music whereas "Kokore" is a cheerful track and
"Carlos & Cody" is a dubby rhythm mover that runs and runs forever.
Robag Wruhme als Themroc - Dash Shopper 12 inch (Freude Am
Tanzen) [FREUDE037EP] $11.50
Robag Wruhme curates an old reunion. "Mosca Via" was first released by
Themroc and Maciste in 2002 on Thrill Beat Construction, and here's its
fresh rendition. A great electro-pop hit with vocoder, Detroit strings,
power plant plink-plunk and thoughtful bass. "Delmac" is a short, still
piece, riding on the trail of Vangelis and Tomita. "Dash Shopper" features
a cool dullness, bass thumps and synth-taps. This is where the proper
balance of dance movement and release is reached.
Roland M. Dill - Share Your Body 12 inch (Trapez)
[TRAPEZLTD066] $11.50
Cologne's Roland M. Dill presents his second 12" on Trapez. Share Your
Body
is a funky 2-tracker, containing rhythmic, post-Chicago elements and a
mightily produced big clubber. "Share Your Body" is a crazy DJ track with a
long beat introduction creating the possibility of mixing two tracks on top
of each other. "I'll Be There" has a bigger bass line, juxtaposing a softer
touch against the former's super hectic and funky programming.

Russian Circles - Station LP (Suburban Home) [SHOUSE007]
$19.25
NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! Formed in the Windy City in 2004, RUSSIAN
CIRCLES
were born and from the beginning it was their concoction of metal
trimmings, minimal jazz primers, and cryptic riffs that hit the scene out
of nowhere with the pummeling impact of a rouge comet crashing in from the
skies. Their music weaves up an intense and cinematic albeit soothing
clobbering that cannot be put into words but instead into forms of audible
head trips that defies pigeonholing.
Russian Circles - Enter LP (Suburban Home) [SHOUSE008]
$19.25
NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! The debut album from genre-embracing
rocksters
RUSSIAN CIRCLES. A six-track instrumental amalgam of punk, metal,
indie-rock, and prog that builds with intensity, rich textures, and
propulsive polyrhythms.

Simon Baker to supply a remix, and it is another right-on-the-money
tech-house excursion. Limited to 1200 copies.
Smith 'n' Hack - Tribute 2xLP (Smith N Hack) [SMITH001LP]
$23.25
"2008 repress of the legendary 2001 debut: Errorsmith meets Soundhack.
Disco/funk punk massacre." Twelve tracks of disco cutups based around the
catalog of Hamilton Bohannon, totally delirious music, produced to
devastating effect. All time classic.
Solaris Heights - Luminesk 12 inch (Boxer Recordings)
[BOXER060EP] $11.50
Solaris Heights are BJ Robson and Anton Fielding, known from their
releases
on Guidance, Paper Recordings and Renaissance. Ten years after their first
official release, they come up with two stomping techno productions. The
pushing synths are perfect for any dancefloor and will turn the hippest
club into a hysteric hell.
Sten - Way To The Stars 12 inch (Dial) [DIAL041EP] $11.50
Far is the way to the stars. Where Sun Ra started and Carl Craig
continued, Sten aka Lawrence finds the way again. Leaving Hamburg
travelling via Detroit City, you need just 7 minutes to reach the Universe.
"Way To The Stars" is Sten's tribute to Motorcity's techno-soul, a hymn
covered by 808 beats and holy strings, a hypnotic bass line between. "More
Stash," a Detroitish house monster and "The Gate," a deeply broken tool,
make this 12" an appetizer of things to come.
Stephan Bodzin - Bremen-Ost 12 inch (Herzblut) [HERZ009EP]
$12.25
Stephan Bodzin's stunning full-length debut album Liebe Ist takes off
the
gloves and bares the wicked part of his personality. The first results are
two irritating and ingenious tracks named "Bremen-Ost" and "Station 72."
Alluring sounds with a mind-boggling aura emerging as thrilling dancefloor
injections! Mental disease was never this fascinating before.
Tensnake - Keep Believin' 12 inch (Endless Flight) [EF007EP]
$11.50
Hamburg-based artist Tensnake has released on his own label Mirau and
Radius. Many people know about him from his remix work for Junior Boys and
Alexander Robotnick. The title track is reminiscent of the sound of Norway
disco artists like Lindstrøm. "Congolal" is romantic, pure `80s
disco-style
and "Tavira" is DFA-style disco house.
Tom
Ellis - Twaddle 12 inch (Floppy Funk) [FLOPPY017EP] $11.50
No description available at this time.
Toni Rios + Pan/tone - Speicher 60 12 inch (Kompakt)
[KOMEX060EP] $11.50
This is the 60th edition in Kompakt's famous Speicher series. The
A-side
belongs to Toni Rios, who delivers a nicely sexed-up tech-house tune that
reminds of Chicago house, Akufen and Marc Kinchen all at once. Pan/Tone is
an old friend of Kompakt's and many liters of spirits have been consumed
while contemplating a release on the label. Now that he's moving to Berlin,
he leaves behind a cool track appropriately entitled, "Hair Of The Dog."
Various Artists - Searching For The Now Vol. 3 7 inch
(Slumberland) [SL81] $6.25
A SUNNY DAY IN GLASGOW began as a bedroom project of BEN DANIELS and
his
sisters ROBIN & LAUREN. Coming on like Aphex Twin covering Cocteau Twins,
SMCJ's brilliant blend of dense guitar/electronic noise, sampled rhythms
and ethereal pop garnered rave reviews around the world and thrilled music
fans with its unique take on the shoegaze template. Their track, "Sometimes
I Think About You," is a striking re-think of a classic tune from Scots pop
legends The Pastels. THE SUNNY STREET is a pop duo based in London, but
comprised of two quite talented French folks: REMI and DElPHINE, both of
whom are also in ELECTROPHOENVINTAGe. Taking their musical cues from such
touchstones as New Order, Felt, Brighter and Trembling Blue Stars, they
started The Sunny Street in 2006 after moving to London. Their sound is
captivating and melancholic, capturing the fragile and haunting feelings
that go along with love and life. "Pottery & Glass" is previously
unreleased and an excellent introduction to the sublime charms of The Sunny
Street.
Various Artists - Searching For The Now Vol. 4 7 inch
(Slumberland) [SL82] $6.25
Formed in early 1997, THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART have quickly
become
one of the most talked-about pop bands in years. Original members PEGGY,
KIP and ALEX came together through a shared love of The Pastels, Ramones,
Black Tambourine and "Sunny Sundae Smile"-era My Bloody Valentine. Over the
course of a self-released EP, a limited 3" cd single and one-half of a
split 7", The Pains have demonstrated an absolute mastery of noise/jangle
pop, their songs being a perfect distillation of classic pop melody and
thrilling, rushing guitar noise that has taste-making blogs like Stereogum,
Skatterbrain and Drowned In Sound tripping over themselves in search of
superlatives. SUMMER CATS are a five piece pop band from Melbourne,
Australia. Like most people from Melbourne, they spend their time either:
a) enjoying summer or b) waiting for summer to arrive. Musically they are
something of a cross between Stereolab and the Go-Betweens, blending
driving motorik pop with catchy songcraft. "Let's Go!" is exclusive to this
single and it's giddy, distorted rush is downright infectious, the song
blazing by at 100mph leaving you breathless from shouting along and jumping
around the living room. Pure pop power!

synthesizer keyboards or modules: Roland TB303, Yamaha DX7, and the Boss
Doctor Rhythm DR55 drum machine. The B-side, "CCUK," is AARON FUNK's
political comment on the state of smoking (or not) in the UK. No exports to
