Soriah with Ashkelon Sain - Atlan CD (Projekt) [10551] $14.50
Atlan has its roots in the ceremonial: ritualism, shamanism, butoh. Master Tuvan throat singer Soriah teams up with prolific soundscaper Ashkelon Sain to create a totally breathtaking album. Soriah conjures up a haunting sonic otherworld, drifting, dreamy, a rumbling, whirring ambient dronescape, thick with natural timbre and dense with subtle overtones. The eleven tracks employ a host of Central Asian ethnic stringed instruments alongside atmospheric synths and hypnotic hand percussion to form a simmering backdrop for Soriah's mesmerizing vocals intoned in the ancient Aztec language of Nahuatl.

Spyra - January in June CD (Fax) [PS08/118] $16.50

A Challenge of Honour - Leonidas CD (Old Europa Cafe) [10564] $18.75

A Challenge of Honour re-arranged lost material from his archive and created an Epic soundtrack in honour of king Leonidas, the ruler of Sparta! For this album A Challenge of Honour has once more returned to his sound of the legendary Seven Samurai recordings to try to get the right atmosphere for this journey into ancient history.

Expect heavy percusion and powerful orchestral brass work combined with choirs and marching drums.

A.A. Bondy - When The Devil's Loose CD (Fat Possum) [FP1198] $12.00
RELEASE DATE: 09-01-2009
***When the Devil's Loose expands upon the stripped-down and haunting sound of A.A. BONDY's debut album, American Hearts. A full band now accompanies him on most tracks, lending a full, roomy sound to ten songs of bluesy Americana carried along by Bondy's lived-in voice.

Andrew Byrne - White Bone Country CD (New World Records) [NW80696CD] $14.50
Performed by Stephen Gosling (piano) and David Shively, (percussion). "Andrew Byrne (b. 1966) has lived and worked mostly in New York since the early 1990s. This tripartite CD has a mobile-like character, working entirely with a fabric of piano and metal percussion in changing manners and images, all of them remote from the duo relationship of conventional chamber music. The central work 'Tracks' is also the earliest one (composed 1998, revised 2006), and presents the solo piano in its most 'normal' sound and interaction with the player -- a kind of journey, as the title suggests, within a dense and accumulating polyrhythmic expression. The two surrounding groups of pieces extend from this in two different directions -- the opening 'White Bone Country' (2006) towards reduced sound-reveries in processed piano and small metal percussion, the succeeding 'Mirages' (2007) into pure sonic fantasies made from sampled sounds of prepared piano. Byrne relates these pieces to 'the other American experimental tradition of Cowell, Harrison, Peter Garland, John Luther Adams, rather than the New York minimalists/post-minimalists -- to their concerns with polyrhythms in a reduced meditative sound world, suggestions of strange folk musics, depiction of landscape...' Fundamental to the language of all Byrne's pieces are pulsations, from which varied melodic motives and overlaid rhythmic meters can be drawn. In this respect his approach differs from other landscape-orientated music based on drones and evolving fields of sound, along with their opposite, flurries of irregular disjunct rhythms."

Atlas Sound - Logos CD (Kranky) [KRANK138CD] $12.75
"The prolific Bradford Cox delivers yet again, with his second solo album under the Atlas Sound moniker. Eleven delectable pop delights served up to tantalize and tickle your taste buds. This is the second solo album from Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox following his debut Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel from early 2008."

B-Sanders - B-Electric CD (U-cover) [10567] $16.75
Belgium artist B-Sanders has worked a very long time on his debut B-electric. On one side he is influenced by the deep Detroit sound and on the other side he is fascinate by the skills of Murcof. So his excellent ambient minded album brings tracks that crosses between these two with a strong personal approch. B-Sanders has the knowledge to combine minimal music with perfect balanced emotions. On top of it Ontayso brings a dark version of his 22:22 track. Do not miss out this highly recommended debut from the new Belgium electronic hope in dark days.

Ben Goldberg - Speech Communication CD (Tzadik) [TZ8146] $14.50
"One of the most important and talented clarinetists in the world today and a distinctive composer, Ben Goldberg returns to his roots with this first new CD from his legendary band New Klezmer Trio in almost ten years. Joined here by two of New York's finest musicians, Greg Cohen and Kenny Wollesen, and still at the top of his form, Ben proves once again that he is one of the true masters of modern Jewish clarinet. Jazz, klezmer and more from this pioneer voice of Radical Jewish Culture. Essential! File Under: Jewish/Jazz."

Bob Dylan - Theme Time Radiohour: The Best Of The Second Series 2CD (Chrome Dreams) [CHROME5025CD] $18.00
"Following the huge success of the previous 2 compilations featuring tracks played by Bob Dylan on the first series of his Theme Time Radio Hour, we now proudly present a further 50 tracks as played by Bob across the second series of the show. The selections are just as eclectic, fascinating and enjoyable as those he played during the first series, and again each show was themed by subject matter. With extensive liner notes again provided by Dylan expert and editor-in-chief of Isis magazine Derek Barker, this latest collection is certain to match the success of the previous volumes and once again is set to become a must-have-item for Dylan fans and of fans of American roots music alike."

Bodymovin - Bodymovin CD (Moonbootique Records) [MOON003CD] $16.00
Bodymovin is the partnership of DJ Friction (of the hugely popular German band Freundeskreis), and DJ Thomilla (the well-known hip-hop DJ and producer, also one-half of Turntablerocker with Michael Beck). After much success individually, and eventual touring together with their various different projects, the pair got together as a DJ double act, and so Bodymovin was born. The album is richly decorated with lovingly-played analog synth vibes, funked-out bass lines, irresistible vocal hooks and an unending supply of tight, club-friendly beats. All this is tied together by subtle, lovingly-sequenced arrangements that lock the listener in, yet surprise them with a constant forward-moving energy that presents raw musical ideas in a more digestible context. This is a real amalgam of modern electronic, effortlessly appealing to fans across the spectrum. There are 12 tracks featured here, each with their own voice, mode and vision -- they are all irresistible, essential cuts -- and it's clear to hear the high quality, instinctive songwriting skills of the duo right from the introduction bars of "Yeah!." Melding electronic disco, modern dancefloor beats and ultra-catchy synth lines a-plenty, tracks like their single hits "Good Time" or "Everybody," "In & Out" or their trademark "B.O.D.Y.M.O.V.I.N." shake the system upside-down. This is a remarkably accomplished album literally bursting at the seams with fresh musical ideas, catchy, unforgettable hooks, and up-front dancefloor energy. Welcome to the space-disco-tech-house-song-writing world of Bodymovin.

Burning Star Core - Very Heart Of The World CD (Thin Wrist - TW) [G] $14.50
AVAILABLE AGAIN!!! "On The Very Heart of the World, BURNING STAR CORE (BXC) has created an incredibly heavy record, built on dense, layered drones, pulses, splintered vocals, and deep rhythms that euphorically build to total overload. With a lineup including the HAIR POLICE front line and other luminaries from across the exploding Midwestern psych/noise/folk underground, BXC's C. SPENCER YEH has assembled a group that seamlessly shifts through epic movements and pushes pure electronic/concrete/physical/rock energy to undeniable, massive sound. Expanding on what was hinted at on the collaboration LP with Comets on Fire earlier this year, The Very Heart of the World is a definitive statement of the evolving Burning Star Core sound."

Cindytalk - The Crackle Of My Soul CD (Editions Mego) [EMEGO097CD] $16.00
Legendary UK experimental group Cindytalk have been active since 1982. During the '80s and '90s their sound was defined by broken-down rock structures and abstract piano ambience. A third side to their coin emerged at the dawn of the 21st century with a turn towards obscure computer usage, pushing all resemblance of melody and conventual texture to the outer edges. The Crackle Of My Soul is their first full-length to come from this new direction, starting in 2001 and now finally ready for release. It's also the first Cindytalk album since the 1995 release of Wappinschaw. Although very abstract in nature, these 10 tracks still echo the vocal brilliance and subtle beauty that Cindytalk have become known for, and push back boundaries, making this an essential listen, regardless if you are aware of their back catalog or not. This is the first in a series of already-finished releases from Cindytalk, which will see the light of day throughout 2010. "And if there is still one hellish, truly accursed thing in our time, it is our artistic dallying with forms, instead of being like victims burnt at the stake, signaling through the flames." --Antonin Artaud. Written and recorded by Gordon Sharp at Belmont Shore (CA), Mid-Levels (HK) & Kobe (Japan) 2001-2009. Mastered at Piethopraxis, July 2009. Dedicated to Matt Kinnison (1965-2008).

Cobra Killer - Uppers And Downers CD (Monika) [MONIKA066CD] $14.00
This is Cobra Killer's fifth full-length studio album. Cobra Killer are Gina V. D'Orio and Annika Line Trost. Both have played in bands in the former West Berlin since the age of 12/13. They formed Cobra Killer in January of 1998, touring through Europe and revolutionizing the then-boring electronic music scene with their raucous show. In 2002, they took Australia and New Zealand by storm, supporting Peaches on various shows, including the Big Day Out Festival. Shortly afterwards, they were also a support act for Sonic Youth, who were very impressed by the Cobra movement. Recently, they have wowed capacity crowds supporting big names such as Marilyn Manson and Jon Spencer, who also guests on two tracks on this album. Uppers And Downers sees Cobra Killer sounding as defiant and as unpredictable as ever. Recorded in part at Einstürzende Neubauten's andereBaustelle studio in Berlin, and featuring appearances by other such special guests such as J. Mascis and Thurston Moore, the record is a roller-coaster ride that sees the band pushing the limits and again going way beyond expectations to deliver an album that's sure to please their many fans. Chock-full of totally pounding, crazed electro-punk/new-wave mishmash, and some less likely surprises.

Crookers - I Love Techno 2009 CD (Lektroluv) [LL006CD] $1.00
Following Boys Noize's turn on 2008's I Love Techno mix, I Love Techno 2009 features the talents and tastes of insanely-hot Italian DJ duo, Crookers. The hot fuss surrounding Crookers is about to reach fever pitch. Already the hippest act in dance circles, they will soon unleash their debut album on the world and things are expected to go mad for the two men from Milan. Their remix of Kid Cudi's "Day 'N' Nite" reached number two in the UK and is now riding high on the U.S. airplay charts. Their already huge body of work has attracted the attention of big names such as Kanye West and Will. I. Am who have become fans and collaborators. Dolce & Gabbana recently used their U2 "Get Your Boots On" remix for the catwalk and their MySpace page is getting more traffic than Coldplay's. Crookers started in 2003 when DJs Phra and Bot met and paired up over a shared love of hip-hop, house and the emerging skewed, bass-heavy sounds pioneered by Switch in the UK and Diplo in the States, and also of quality house like Moodymann and Theo Parrish. It's from these combined influences that Crookers derive their hybrid sound. Their first release End 2 End, was released in 2006, but it was with the Knobbers EP, for their current label Southern Fried, when they really made an impact. There's footage on YouTube of their appearance at I Love Techno in 2008, with 10,000 people singing the riff to "Knobbers." Crookers usher in 2009's I Love Techno at the Flanders Expo in Ghent with an incredible mix of tracks by Zomby, Harvard Bass, Fever Ray, Osborne, Untold, Jahcoozi, Oliver

Daniel Meteo - Working Class CD (Shitkatapult) [STRIKE107CD] $16.00
This is the second full-length solo album by Berlin's Daniel Meteo. Working Class is a painting, a patina-coated classic, a precious collection of bourgeois oddities that are heavy, deep and dark. Meteo packs his (steamer) trunk with 11 uncanny, old-fashioned tracks, veering between house and electronica. Meteo kicks it all off with a roughly-hewn club beat, then slathers on layer upon layer of DIY piano loops, fluttering melodies, creaking bass lines and constantly-shifting, spellbinding harmonics. Working Class shrugs off its house-y pretensions to reveal its true, underlying nature as a modern soul album. Unshackled from concepts, quotations, and its own history, all the tracks follow their own mood and take a leisurely stroll through the club scene before a quick dip into the abyss. "On The Corner"'s massive, dark walls of chords, the soulful clarions on "Return Of The Pure" or the Moodyman-inspired "Working Class" cherish and celebrate deepness and groove without any overt gestures, tricky beats or rave-centric hi-hats in favor of a more dreamlike and picturesque composition. In a way, the Detroit-esque FM interplay "Signals" and the trad-house homage of "Grace" seem to herald a new chapter or classic B-side. All of a sudden, there is more levity, more treble, more light and clarity, culminating in the gloriously-mumbled vocal track "In The Mood." A huge club hit and eminently listenable, its snappy lyrics stick in your brain long after the last chord has faded. In-your-face beats, off chords, techno bass -- done. A brief respite for weary souls, the remaining three tracks float dreamily through the evening sky: "Schön Feddich" and "Opener" plus the piano exercise "Reclam," with the latter skirting dangerously close to a kitsch-infused piss-take. The album's artwork -- courtesy of Bianca Strauch -- shows a photograph by Daniel's sister Kathrin Peters and depicts the garden of an old bourgeois home. Beautiful classicism, just like this album.

David Taylor - Red Sea CD (Tzadik) [TZ8148] $14.50
"David Taylor is one of the world's greatest virtuosos on the bass trombone -- a musician of incredible charisma and eclecticism who has worked with everyone from Gil Evans, Charles Wuorinen, and Frank Sinatra, to Yo-Yo Ma, Barbara Streisand, Duke Ellington and Pierre Boulez. Accompanied by a fabulous band, his Tzadik debut Red Sea is a creative and exciting blend of original music, Hasidic melodies, improvisation and ambient soundscapes. Inspired by the music of the legendary Cantor Pierre Pinchik, this is a moody and dynamic album evoking the ecstasy of cantorial fervor."

Death Pact International - Seige CD (Old Europa Cafe) [10563] $24.00
No description available at this time.

Demdike Stare - Symbiosis CD (Modern Love) [LOVE059CD] $14.00
Demdike Stare is a long-in-the-making hook-up between two shady characters operating at the fringes of Manchester's fragmented music scene: Miles Whittaker and Sean Canty. Miles has been a long-time affiliate of Modern Love as one half of Pendle Coven and under his own MLZ alias, while Canty is one of the city's most recognizable vinyl collectors, carrying an obsession with everything from obscure Nordic Doom records to Anatolian funk albums, fuelled by his day job helping out at the Finders Keepers label. The project is named after Pendle's most famous witch: Elizabeth Southerns, aka Demdike. The tracks on Symbiosis are drawn from elements of Turkish, Indian, Iranian, African and West Indian film soundtracks alongside Norwegian drone records, classic house templates, punctured dub, modified techno and the Arctic noise perfected by Mika Vainio. Original sources and dense analog experiments weave around each other with little care for convention or stylistic expectation, instead throwing the pair's extensive musical knowledge into a set of tracks that, quite brilliantly, defy categorization. The album opens with "Suspicious Drone," a dense, 6-minute opening that chugs along like a malfunctioning mechanical beast, honing in on Lancashire's dark industrial landscapes before moving onto more exotic, balmy territory. "Haxan Dub" (named after the film narrated by William Burroughs about witchcraft) deploys fragmented dub echoes infused with displaced horns and African signatures, taking its time with one of the jerkiest rhythms you'll have the pleasure of hearing, before "Jannisary" tangles in and out of an Iranian hook and a squashed Congolese rhythm that creates an asymmetric, geniusly-constructed dancefloor killer. By the time the album comes to a close with "Ghostly Hardware" an hour later, the cycle is complete with a return to icy tundras and chugging machinations steeped in the traditions of Scandinavian machine music and pure analog frequencies, expertly handled by those masterful technicians over at Berlin's Dubplates & Mastering.

Dinky - Anemik CD (Wagon Repair) [WAG056CD] $16.00
This is Dinky's fourth studio album. Following up on her unanimously-acclaimed album May Be Later (VA 003CD/024LP), Chilean artist and Berlin transplant Alejandra Iglesias conceived Anemik entirely for the Wagon Repair label after being approached by label head Mathew Jonson. A musing on femininity and the fine line between romance and delirium, Anemik transcends borders in its range of influence and reflects consciousness in the fluidity and tangibly live origins of its creation. Recorded using analog equipment and acoustic instruments with a strong emphasis on voice, there is a wisdom and maturity to this work. Opener "Childish" builds from meditative beginnings with looped synth, wandering pads and wildfire percussive cycles that concoct a deep and dreamy landscape. "Romaniks" creates space between electronic and acoustic spheres with Latin-soaked beats encircling a subdued kick. Mantric vocal chants inject a mystical dimension into the affair, its psychedelic overtones continuing into "Westoid," where Dinky's vocal lament is complimented by the baritone accents of Los Updates' enigmatic Jorge Gonzáles. "Goldfishes" bubbles into being with processed choral scales, while "Rainfallic" is a mid-tempo trip of lazy legato harmonies and epic Telecaster drones. "Anemik" is a restless electronic frenzy, with melodic and percussive elements feuding amidst staccato vocals, effervescent machine transmissions and a penetrating central kick. "Glacial" opens with reverberant vocals and deep percussion that swims through murky pads and delayed keys. "Ceramik" weaves a tight beat, with warm Rhodes accompaniment, live percussion and ramped vocal passages. Thumbed melodic patterns and sonorous key stabs characterize "Glassik," while "Skyped" intertwines grandiose processed chorals, deep metallic percussion and leveling pads. The infectious, arpeggiated melodies of "Epilepsia" are invigorated by live Latin percussion, "Fadik" is a wonky love song set to cascading beats, strummed guitar and electronic emissions, and "Nocturnal" unsettles with moribund ambient shivers to complete the kaleidoscopic range of flavors and emotions offered by this remarkable record. At times dreamy, at times nightmarish, at times romantic, at times befuddled, Anemik is always quintessentially Dinky.

Downpilot - They Kind Of Shine CD (Tapete) [TR166CD] $16.00
This is the third full-length album by multi-instrumentalist Paul Hiraga aka Downpilot. Downpilot has given the music world two albums of lush and atmospheric pop in collaboration with producer Tucker Martine (R.E.M., The Decemberists, Laura Veirs), with influences as diverse as Americana rock, ambient electronica and jazz. Their first full-length album, Leaving Not Arriving, garnered shining reviews from Rolling Stone, Harp, No Depression, amongst others, and their 2006 follow-up, Like You Believe It, was named "Best Local Album of the Year" by Seattle's influential arts weekly The Stranger. Always curious and looking for new ways to express his musical vision, Hiraga delved into the technical world of classic studio electronics in order to actually construct wire-by-wire most of the vintage-based analog recording gear that would soon capture the sounds on the album he subsequently produced for The Wedding Present bassist Terry de Castro (A Casa Verde). Hiraga's multi-instrumental musicianship and engineering artistry (as well as contributing two songs) have since earned praise in the UK (8/10 stars in NME). This new audio laboratory was then put to work in the creation and recording of They Kind Of Shine. Drawing some individualistic inspiration from the first Paul McCartney solo albums (on which the former Beatle played nearly every instrument himself), Hiraga embarked on a private studio exploration that has many songs performed entirely by himself on acoustic/electric/lap steel guitars, drums and percussion, acoustic and electric piano, humming old Farfisas and Hammonds and creaky old pump organs, with an occasional banjo and ukulele thrown in for flavor. Long-time band mate Jeff Brown contributes rich background vocal support, and cameos by former Posies drummer Mike Musburger, pedal steel master Maggie Bjorklund and Tucker Martine contribute to the remarkably cohesive band sound. The result is a rich acoustic-electric-chamber-pop-roots-Americana-rock-country album that doesn't really hold on to any of those simplistic labels, but is completely timeless. Soaring, accomplished singer/songwritership imbued with rich harmonies and alt. country swagger.

Dry Spells - Too Soon For Flowers CD (Antenna Farm) [ANT529] $12.00
THE DRY SPELLS, a San Francisco-based, female-led ensemble, create a unique sound drawing from traditional folk ballads of lost loves, unimaginable sorrows, and nostalgia for a forgotten past, charged with an array of electric and acoustic instrumentation and intricate vocal harmonies. The band headed to SF following college graduation and soon joined fellow Bard alumnus EZRA FEINBERG, who was in the process of assembling the critically lauded, retro-prog-psych transcendentalist outfit CITAY. Before long, much of the Dry Spells lineup were splitting time in Citay, appearing on the Little Kingdom album, released on Dead Oceans. Soon, the Dry Spells came into their own as part of a very supportive SF scene. They shared stages with friends like Vetiver, The Entrance Band, Papercuts, Thao Nguyen, The Botticellis, Bart Davenport, and Black Fiction, and before long headed into the studio with rock auteur TIM GREEN to lay down their debut album on analog tape. The Dry Spells debut album, Too Soon For Flowers is a collection of exquisitely crafted songs that couple bewitching lyrics with bold vocal harmony and strings interplay, offering a palpable sense of loss and sorrow.

Edgard Varèse/Morton Feldman - Amériques/Piece For Four Pianos - Five Pianos CD (Wergo) [WER6708] $22.75
Performed by Bugallo-Williams Piano Duo & Friends. "Amériques -- a symbol of renewal, adventure, and discovery -- is a symphonic eruption that earned a place in the twentieth century's list of famous scandals at its premiere. The version on this CD for two pianos, eight hands featuring the Bugallo-Williams Duo introduces the musical world to a work of extreme pianistic virtuosity, both delicate and ecstatic, a work whose wild activity could not be more different from the almost motionless introspection of the Feldman pieces. As Feldman said, 'Instead of inventing a system like Schoenberg, Varèse invented a music that speaks to us with its incredible tenacity rather than its methodology. When listening to Varèse, we ask ourselves, 'How did he do it?' and not 'How was it done?''"

Elisa Luu - Chromatic Sigh CD (Hidden Shoal) [HSR056] $11.50
RELEASE DATE: 09-28-2009
Though digitally crafted, Chromatic Sigh is warm, inviting and uniquely human, betraying a vulnerability and sensitivity that is rarely found in the male-dominated sphere of electronica. With its sighing, lilting qualities, Elisa Luu's music reawakens a sense of childlike wonder and adventure with every sprawling and sparkling track. The album deftly moves in and out of the realms of ambient and electronica, creating a blissful, liminal realm where everything is rendered transformative. The opening title track is a shifting kaleidoscope of drones, enveloping the listener with its gorgeous metallic haze. Single "The Garden' creates a humid atmosphere of synths and glistening textures, carried aloft by crisp, skittering drum breaks. Melancholic centerpiece "Slow Bass Flute' -- which also appeared on debut EP Floating Sounds which appeared on the Phantom Channel imprint (St Kilda, Kontinnent, et al) -- is so emotionally weighty that one can't help but feel humbled in its presence. Album closer "Warn Plate' is the gentle return to terra firma, leaving the listener conscious of having visited somewhere unique, complex and achingly beautiful.

Epic45 - In All The Empty Houses CD (Make Mine Music) [MMM047CD] $15.25
RELEASE DATE: 10-05-2009
It comes as no surprise to find that Epic45 grew up and still reside in a small rural village in the heartland of the English Midlands. Based around the nucleus of 27-year-old school friends Ben Holton and Rob Glover, Epic45 have had a varied and fluid line-up since their debut in 1999, releasing a series of highly acclaimed EPs and albums for labels such as Bearos, Awkward Silence and Where Are My Records. The band has also received radio airplay from the late John Peel, Steve Lamacq and Verity Sharp. Inspired by their surroundings, blissful childhood summers and mysterious/inspiring walks, the duo have been making music for more than a decade. Epic45's last full-length album, 2007's "May Your Heart Be The Map" cemented the band's reputation as purveyors of gorgeous, hazy, atmospheric pop. Described by Word Magazine as "The best English summer album ever", it displayed Epic45's masterful blending of acoustic and electronic instruments, their subtle use of field recordings to evoke different moods and memories, and glorious, understated vocal harmonies. Much has happened in the months since. "In All The Empty Houses" is a diary of this time. It is, in every sense, a very personal record; one that captures innocence, loss, yearning, resignation... and hope. It is an album of ghosts - the ghosts of past times, the ghosts of lost relationships, the ghosts of what might have been and the ghosts of what never was... ghosts on tape. If you're looking for easy musical references, you might be able to hear the ghosts of Sarah Records, Disco Inferno, Slowdive and New Order. But to rely on such comparisons would be a considerable disservice. The sounds are unmistakably those of Epic45, the hushed vocals, chiming guitars, warm electronics, the beautiful turn of phrase, the heartbreaking melodies. "In All The Empty Houses" has a rich emotional depth, an honesty and an integrity all too seldom found. It is, simply, a stunning record. "In All The Empty Houses" also features contributions from Simon Scott (Slowdive / Televise) on drums as well as new Epic45 member Paul Manasseh (who records as PManasseh) on keyboards.

Eyal Maoz's Edom - Hope And Destruction CD (Tzadik) [TZ8147] $14.50
"Born in Haifa and now a vital member of the New York downtown scene, Eyal Maoz is a guitarist, bandleader and composer of great intensity and vision. Produced by Shanir Blumenkranz, this second CD by his band Edom pushes Radical Jewish Culture to exciting new places with the addition of keyboard maniac Brian Marsella and Israeli drummer Yuval Lion. Tight, driving and intense, Hope and Destruction presents powerful Jewish rock instrumentals from a cutting edge guitarist who combines the harmonic lyricism of Bill Frisell with the angst and skronk of Marc Ribot."

Forest Fire - Survival CD (Infinite Best) [BEST002] $12.00
Survival was recorded over an eight month period in two locations-Brooklyn, New York and Portland, Oregon. Many of the tracks were recorded live in less than five takes, then maniacally overdubbed by a variety of players. Sometimes there was only one microphone for the entire band. Sometimes they pulled out a few more. The tracks are littered with out-of-tune horns, vibrant bursts of guitar and layers of screeching electronics. NATHAN DELLFS' frantic guitar work threads throughout dark and carefully executed harmonies by the likes of SHARON VAN ETTEN, MYISHA BATTLE and DICK DELFFS (SHAKY HANDS). Ghostly synthesizers, arresting vocals and loose percussion are woven together under the glimmering production values of ADAM SPITTLER. Named La Blogotheque's (of Take Away Show Fame) Album of the Year for 2008, beating out year-end-list heavyweights Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, and the like.

Gianluca Becuzzi & Fabio Orsi - Soundpostcards CD (Cold Current Productions) [10554] $16.75
Sound Postcards is a sound representation of determinated time-space, of its moods and atmospheres, it's a sort of soundpostcard in which the artists portray a familiar and hypothetical landscape. The listener is induced to ''identify'' the represented subjects through interpretative processes which directly compare sound suggestions with subjective/collective imagination. A semanthic game of mirrors reflecting forms in perpetual transition between auditive dimension and symbolic/mnemonic one. "Soundpostcards" is the first collaboration of this two artist, originally releasesd (2004) in two different mp3 work, now reissue for the first time in CD after a been REWORKED and added with an unreleased track. The Sounds is really inmost and peacefully melancholy. Lost and naked melodies (some times near to the feeling of the most dilatated post rock other time much more near to the aesthetics sounds of the avant folk music) on a soft background of field recordings and drones.

Goverment Alpha - Inpegnabrle CD (New Nihilism) [10556] $16.75
Govt. Alpha's mission started in 1992 as a natural conclusion to Yoshida's urge for expression through the art, deliberately in it's terminal form. While incorporating all that awesome elements of Japanese noise sound, Government Alpha suddenly developed its own trademark sound--abstract yet seductive framework of multilayered feedback, mangled distortion roars, wild editing and manic signal processing that takes an assault on your ears with no holds barred. Tokio's wildest, Government Alpha proves it again on Impregnable Storm, an album scheduled for NN so long ago... And worth to wait for, hands down! This is extremely brutal, loud and harsh. This is the passion. This is sexy. This is Government Alpha.

Grey - Nefelodhis CD (Cold Current Productions) [10553] $19.50
In 2003 Maurizio Bianchi and Matteo Uggeri/Hue meet through Afe records; three years after Maurizio asked Hue for a musical collaboration, that grew up quickly until the design of a long term project called Between the Elements. Nefelodhis album was then recorded in few days in a totally improvised session where Sparkle in Grey, the enseble of Alberto Carozzi (guitar, bass), Cristiano Lupo (piano, guitar, drums), Franz Krostopovic (violin) and Hue (laptop), played melancolic melodies on the mysterious analogic and a-rhytmical soundscapes provided by MB. The results of these sessions, recorded into the factory where Sparkle in Grey are used to have their rehearsal, was assembled and mixed by Hue himself.

The album is a desperate but dreamy picture in sounds of the concept of clouds (in greek 'Nefelodhis' means 'cloudiness') and, after the careful mastering of Giuseppe Ielasi, sounds like a trip through the wet lands made of vapour.

Impulse International - Point Of Action CD (Dirtnap) [ZZZ87] $12.00
"This is ADAM from DIRT BIKE ANNIE's current band. Heart-breakingly great garage pop with a timeless vibe. Perfect guitar power pop to die for, beyond infectious. Check it out if ya like the Beat, Shoes, Pointed Sticks, Exploding Hearts, etc. We got tapped to release this CD a mere 3 weeks before it needed to be out. Totally worth re-arranging our release schedule to accommodate this gem! We had also said we were done with CD-only releases, but this was worth making an exception for. Vinyl on Deranged!"-Ken (Dirtnap)

Israel Quellet - Soni Sclavus CD (Sub Rosa) [SR262CD] $14.75
Electro-acoustic out-sound experimentician Israël Quellet was born in Neuchâtel, Switzerland in 1972, and this is his second release for the Sub Rosa label -- the fifth volume in their Musics in the Margin series. At 16 years-old, the artist discovered sound-worlds such as Miles Davis' electric era, Sun Ra, dub, German cosmic music, Magma, Zappa, and many more. In 1997, he stepped into the musical fray and, following the advice of a sound engineer friend, bought microphones, a digital mixing board, and studio monitors, turning part of his basement into a soundsmithing studio. That is when he started to create, out of his immediate surroundings, soundworks that have little to do with what is "normally" being done. Appreciated by Ecuadoran electro-acoustic composer Jorge E. Campos, Quellet is supported by the Centre Pierre Schaeffer in Paris. This second work for Sub Rosa explores common objects and the problem of saturation and noise. The artist explains in his own words: "I made the sounds while I was recording, either alone or with the help of my wife. Once a piece has been edited together, the final mixing is performed live, without automation. In order to retain the original dynamics, I do not use compression or any other specific mastering technique designed to equalize the sound or spatialize the stereo image. However, the heavy saturation used in some pieces limits the range of dynamics. The diverse sounds and the diverse means used to capture them give each piece a different overall sound and stereo image. Therefore, the pieces are not standardized or calibrated systematically; they do not all sound the same."

Kaito - Trust CD (Kompakt) [KOMP074CD] $14.00
This is the third full-length release by Japan's veteran dance producer Hiroshi Watanabe aka Kaito for the Kompakt label. Kaito is a familiar whisper at the center of Kompakt's kaleidoscopic strobe light for the many loyalists that know the label well. Eight years have passed since he dropped the unsuspecting masterpiece "Beautiful Day" and he has steadily grown in beauty and stature, much like his son who has graced the cover of nearly all of his 13 releases for the label. Kaito remains one of Japan's biggest dance producers and undeniably one of the most respected artists from Asia, remaining a top 3 best-selling artist in Japan, USA and Greece for Kompakt. Trust signifies a change of pace for Kaito, who has created one of his most mature and meditative releases to date. Fear not, the euphoria remains -- Kaito continues to flow through his melodies with a remarkable ease and grace that is rarely heard by producers today. Throughout Trust, Kaito seems to want to draw the listener into an aura of introspectiveness -- carrying an elated earnestness that is sure to be welcomed by many considering these serious times, and certain to draw new fans to his already full table. Another classic moment for Kompakt from one of their most endearing and tranquil producers.

Kevin Drumm - Imperial Horizon CD (Hospital Productions) [HOS251CD] $13.50
"Imperial Horizon by Kevin Drumm is a further examination into sustained tone as most recently heard on his previous Hospital Productions benchmark album, Imperial Distortion, stretching out minimalism to unreached heights of serene ambient, lulling electronic drones slowly transform over the course of the hour plus piece in constant flux, echoing both an existential terror and Zen calm. Mutations grow so quietly only the body opens to identify this change while the mind closes. The ephemeral and seeming lightness of the tones hang with taut balance in contrast to the method in which they are overlapped and rotated with deadly weight. How wildly divergent emotions rise, hover, and fall using so little is a mystery that only Kevin Drumm can provide. While you may not find an answer, you can certainly get lost in the question."

Kindred Spirits Ensemble - Love Is Supreme CD (Kindred Spirits) [KSFS3] $20.75
Full length album by the KINDRED SPIRITS ENSEMBLE, featuring spiritual jazz standards such as the beautiful "Prince Of Peace," "Two Lullabies," "Ja-Mil" and many more. Over two years in the making, the Love Is Supreme CD is a testament to the timelessness of Coltrane's music. In a world where mankind often seems to be his own worst enemy, Coltrane's music, and in turn these interpretations by the Kindred Spirits Ensemble, shine like a beacon in troubled times.

Lecube - From Here To Now CD (Megaphone UK) [MEGA017CD] $16.00
"Julien 'Lecube' Barbagallo was born to Sicilian immigrant parents in the pastoral landscape of Tarn in France's South-West, where he still lives. His first EP My Bungalow (Barbabungalow) marked the beginning of his solo project, Lecube, and lent him mythical status via the only French magazine which got hold of it, Magic (French equivalent of Mojo). With a simple 8-track machine and a few intimate songs, he began telling the stories he held close to his chest, a fragile combination of glances and breathes, collected randomly on local buses and unmade beds. In the spring of 2004 he began to record new material, on his friend Benjamin's staircase, a collection of songs which were to become From Here To Now' stories where women he'd love to love meet men he'd love to be, and vice versa. These recordings remained on the stairs until Julien played a local party Qwhere he met Stephane Bismuth, Megaphone Music (The Strands, Angil, Karen Dalton), who convinced him to release his new songs initially as a series of 7". Those tracks drew comparisons to amongst others, The Monochrome Set, Neutral Milk Hotel, Bob Dylan, Syd Barrett, The Byrds, Elliott Smith and Howe Gelb."

Lee Everton - Sing A Song For Me CD (Rootdown Records) [RDM13067CD] $16.00
This is the second full-length release from Switzerland's Lee Everton for Rootdown Records. On Sing A Song For Me, organs, an on-point brass section, percussion, various offbeat-rhythms and the ubiquitous guitar build the foundation for Lee Everton's intriguing and welcoming voice. Everton is a wizard of relaxation: he renders the roaring guitars of "Don't Make It Too Hard" as chill as a walk on the beach. He is even able to soothe the blues out of Tom Waits' "Anywhere I Lay My Head." Nevertheless, a light melancholy lies in between all the lines, though jovially-jumping rhythms, as well as a fair portion of common sense, keep the music from becoming a self-pitying walk through a valley of tears. "Cry For Me" is made purely out of organic, hand-made reggae, topped with a glamorous melody. In contrast, the contemplative, soul-laden "You've Still Got A Hold On Me" brings the singer/songwriter back to the table with a gentle piano. Coming from the deep crates of Bob Dylan, Lee Everton's version of "If Not For You" becomes, with the help of a fragile melody and an island feel, one of those songs that gets stuck in your head for days. "I Want To Hold On" partially reminds of Procul Harum's "A Whiter Shade Of Pale," but with only a guitar and a voice to carry the melody. Despite all the richness of detail, Lee Everton's songs remain simple, with relaxed and airy melodies. Everton left his homeland at age 18 and studied at the Jamaican School of Music in Kingston where he discovered his love for the sound of the Caribbean. He brought this spirit back to Switzerland and quickly became a pioneer in the newly-burgeoning Swiss rap- and reggae-scene as an MC and guitarist for the group Sendak. His 2008 debut Inner Exile (RDM 13044CD) established him as an extraordinary artist with a trans-global, harmonic vision and a voice somewhere between Dylan, Van Morrison and Bob Marley. Sing A Song For Me continues and expands upon this promising young artist's trajectory as an important and inventive singer/songwriter.

Les Triaboliques - Rivermudtwilight CD (World Village) [WORLD468088] $18.00
"Les Triaboliques are full of surprises, but the biggest of all is that it took this long to happen. rivermudtwilight, the breathtaking collaboration from multi-instrumentalists Ben Mandelson, Lu Edmonds and Justin Adams is the culmination of a decades-long, indefatigable quest by these voracious visionaries to absorb and utilize the planet's panoply of sound. Having exercised their skills individually within numerous diverse settings, it was perhaps inevitable that this 'meeting of the ancient guild of post-punk, Anglo, globetrotting string players reveling in idiosyncrasy,' as Adams describes it, would eventually come to fruition. The album comprises eleven exquisitely rendered tracks -- most composed by the British trio -- that employ a battery of conventional and exotic instruments, multilingual vocals and a seamless merger of international influences. These diablos of dusk-core offer new distressed string band music for the 21st Century. The Desert, the Delta, the Steppes and the Underground -- all are united in what Mandelson likes to call 'Triabolique Twi-Fi.'"

Library - Tapes Feelings For Something Lost CD (Auetic) [AUECD004] $16.00
RELEASE DATE: 10-19-2009
This is the reissue of the second album from Library Tapes. It was released in 2006 on the Resonant label and will now be put back into print by Auetic, a Swedish label run by David Wenngren. "Feelings For Something Lost" is the follow up to their debut album "Alone In The Bright Lights Of A Shattered Life", which also is being re-released by Auetic) Once more, sparse, bleak compositions take centre stage on "Feelings For Something Lost", with the piano more prominent and the overall sound more stripped down than was the case with its predecessor; dark atmospherics echoing the work of Rachels, Set Fire To Flames, Sylvain Chauveau et al. As on Library Tapes debut album this is the work of David Wenngren and Per Jardsell, with guest appearances from Cecile Schott (COLLEEN) on the stunning "Leaves Abstract In A Village Plunged Into Mourning" and Erik Skodvin (DEAF CENTER) on "Departures (Burning Saints For Your Own Sins)". The album features twelve tracks, recorded between November 2004 and January 2006, all of which have lengthy titles that convey the feeling of the music perfectly. The cd will be released in a matte finish digipack and is limited to 1000 copies. Recommended if you like: Max Richter, Erik Satie, Sylvain Chauveau, Goldmund, Peter Broderick. Press quotes: "Wenngren and Jardsell have created a faded postcard from the monochrome landscapes of Sweden, left it in a dusty junk shop and then offered it to us with love. Highly recommended." (Boomkat)

Mamoru Fujieda - Obscure Tape Music of Japan Vol. 11: Radiated Falling CD (Edition Omega Point) [OPA011CD] $23.75
Mamoru Fujieda is a Japanese post-minimalist composer, and Edition Omega Point releases some of his work from the early '80s. Both "Radiated Falling" (1980) and "The Art Of Fugue" (1981) are tape compositions in which sound materials of a prepared piano are electronically-processed and modulated in various ways. "Radiated Falling" is based on "Falling Scale No. 2" for piano (1975). The series of works entitled "Falling Scale" are composed almost entirely of descending scales as their structural elements. In these works, patterns are automatically produced by the difference in the number of scale tones or through the temporal discrepancy made when the tones descend. In "Falling Scale No. 2," a spiral line is successively transformed. The artist piled up the spiral line in several layers with the uneven timbres of the prepared piano producing sound materials for "Radiated Falling." The sound materials were then transformed to layered sonic textures through the ring modulator, the phase shifter, the harmonizer, and various delay processes. "The Art of Fugue" is based on a simple fugue in four voices from the first piece in The Art Of Fugue by J. S. Bach. The four voices were randomly cut into fragments, which were then reassembled to form four new voices. Each of the voices played by a differently prepared-piano was recorded on a multi-track recorder to produce sound materials for the piece. The sound materials for the prepared piano were then electronically-modulated and spatially processed. The randomly cut fragments of the fugue are interwoven at different tempos to make it "The Art Of Fugue" on the brink of collapse.

Marcel Knopf - Dusty Dance CD (Mo's Ferry) [MFP046CD] $16.00
This is the debut full-length album by Berlin's Marcel Knopf. After his enchantingly kicking Dusty Dance/Rec- Chord single, Marcel Knopf presents his whole musical world and how his heart beats in it in 2009. In an interview regarding the release of his first mix CD Bits To Phono Mix in 2006, he announced: "Minimal is super, but maybe not sexy in the long run!" However, instead of augmenting minimalism with house sounds and tribal or Latin influences, Knopf prefers to focus on a straight funkiness taken from the most treasured moments of house and techno without making his tracks overly romantic or misty-eyed. Sure he digs in deeply, but what matters to him is a seductive dance music that will work today and tomorrow. Revival and recurrence -- he has everything under control and works with classic essences within a modern narrative of electronic dance music, whose evolution has lasted for over 20 years now. Thanks to his interest in diverse electronic sounds, this album is perfectly-produced, with an unexpected capriciousness and genre-overlapping consciousness that is self-confident and innovative. There is a deep, dry crispness to this work that is made for strobe-light, rather than candle-light. Featuring guest appearances by Camara and Padberg.

Matthew Friedberger - Winter Women/Holy Ghost Language School 2CD (Thrill Jockey) [THR223CD] $11.25
"Matthew Friedberger is one half of the The Fiery Furnaces brother and sister duo. This is Matt's first solo record and was originally released in 2006 by 859 Recordings. Thrill Jockey is proud to be bringing this double album back in a new package with updated artwork. Matt wrote and arranged all the music, played all the instruments (except for some drumming from John McEntire of Tortoise on a few tracks), and sings all the songs! The record was co-produced by Bill Skibbe at Key Club Recording at Benton Harbor, Michigan in March of 2006. The release has two full albums worth of music -- Winter Women is a summer record of memorable, accessible, un-ironic, sixties inspired pop songs and Holy Ghost Language School is the musical equivalent of a stormy Murakami novel with the requisite sonic twists and turns which makes Matt's work so original. Both records will appeal to Furnaces fans but have a broader reach, especially Winter Women which is full of summer pop songs."

Maurizio Bianchi - Inexistence CD (Cold Current Productions) [10552] $19.50
A brand new album of minimal, cryptic & static sounds. The inexistence is the aplanatic condition of what is not existing, therefore doesn't subsist in the shot reality. Transferring this entomologic concept to radical music, we're consequently asking: inexistent sounds for existing people or existing sounds for inexistent people? Without schizoid presumption, "Inexistence" is replying to this existential question

Merzbow - Dead Leaves CD (Old Europa Cafe) [10566] $18.25
Another fine release by Japanese Noise King Masami Akita! Not much info about this one. Possibly a reworking of the same-titled track 'Kareha' from the "Collapse 12 Floors" (OHM Records, 1999) album? Who knows! Not as harsh as the old analogue days, but has a sense of structure without beat - controlled feed back etc. Recorded and Mixed at Munemi House in January 2008 with artwork by Jenny Akita. Just under an hour of music. Released in a beautiful 6-panel digipak.

Mika Vainio - Aineen Musta Puhelin CD (Touch) [TO072] $15.25
Finland's MIKA VAINIO presents his fourth solo album for the Touch label, after Onko (1997), Kajo (2000) and In The Land Of The Blind One-Eyed Is King (2003). He is one-half of PAN SONIC with ILPO VALSANEN, and also records solo as O. Vainio's solo works are akin to meditative sound installations-ruminations on the inner-working heart of machine-made music. Sometimes juxtaposing warm analog sounds with harsher electronics, or isolating and diminishing sounds into ambient gauziness, Vainio is an important technician who has firmly established himself in the cadre of minimal, carefully sculpted electronics.

Nordvargr - Untitled Navigations CD (Beast Of Prey) [10555] $25.00
New album of the northern wolf, leader on the Swedish scene of dark sounds. Co-creator of such projects as MZ412, TOROIDH, or FOLKSTORM for the second time appears on Beast Of Prey.

Untitled Navigations I was recorded live in the Villa Bohult studio, and is one massive ambient piece of slow moving darkness. As the soundscape evolves, rythmic patterns appear and merges with the crackling of broken records and deep resounding frequencies. Partly based upon Nordvargr's previous attempts to alter sleep patterns, this recording also contains theta/delta waves, but the reason for this is not revealed. Untitled Navigations I is presented exactly as it was performed, without any overdubs or post production. Prepare for another dark journey into the mind of the nordic master of darkness. Unconventional release in special white cardboard with silver printing. Unusual shape of the package that folded makes 150mm x 150mm size. Inside there are 3 different inserts showing winter landscapes. All very snowy and icy, handmade and numbered to 300 copies.

Olafur Arnalds - Found Songs CD (Erased Tapes) [ERATP017CD] $13.50
In April 2009, Iceland's neo-classical export Ä"lafur Arnalds created the 7-song series Found Songs -- recording a song a day for 7 days and instantly making each track available via Twitter. With artwork contributions from fans via Flickr, this modern release awakens memories of a tradition that seemed lost in the digital age we live in. Born in 1987, Ä"lafur hails from the suburban Icelandic town, MosfellsbĦr, just a few kilometres outside of ReykjavÄk. He has immersed himself completely in a world of delicate symphonic compositions generating near weightless orchestral pieces. Arnalds explores the crossover from classical to pop by mixing chamber strings and piano with discreet electronics which makes him a perfect fit for cinematic pop label Erased Tapes. This young artist has been steadily gaining recognition worldwide since his 2007 debut Eulogy for Evolution (ERATP 004CD). The 2008 follow-up EP Variations of Static earned Ä"lafur acclaim from both the contemporary and classical field -- transcending a traditional divide by uniting their ideals. After filling London's world-famous Barbican Hall, fellow Icelanders Sigur Rijs invited Ä"lafur to open some of their European shows, playing to an audience of over 5,000 per night. In anticipation of another full-length release, Ä"lafur conceived Found Songs as a way to collate several lost-and-found musical sketches and ideas in a "very challenging, but fun" series. The experiment offers its listeners an intimate insight into Ä"lafur Arnalds' creative world. The songs are different from Arnalds' previous output -- comprised mostly of shorter piano suites and electronics-embellished, string-led ruminations -- and so far, more than 70,000 people downloaded the Found Songs series via foundsongs.erasedtapes.com. Each track inspired a wealth of artwork from his fans -- submitted via Flickr. Hosting this project on their official web site, Erased Tapes Records watched the collaboration between Arnalds and his online audience flourish, and found it fitting to combine the music and artwork into one complete work. This is a limited edition, re-mastered physical release, available on CD and in a 10" vinyl version.

Oliver Koletzki - GroÄYstadtmĤrchen CD (Stil Vor Talent) [SVT037CD] $16.00
This is Berlin-based techno/house DJ/producer Oliver Koletzki's highly-anticipated second album for Stil Vor Talent. GroÄYstadtmĤrchen is an electronic album of the finest proportions, and finds the artist fully committed to his roots, which can be traced back to the pop music of the '80s and '90s, while still transporting the fresh energy of today's electronic music productions. Also featured on this record are a wide variety of contributors: Mieze Katz from the German electro-pop outfit MIA, the hot German pop-rock-singer Axel Bosse, critically-acclaimed indie band Kate Mosh, as well as newcomers like Fran, Pyur and Juli Holz. The result is 10 songs that easily fluctuate between catchy pop tracks, modern house grooves and '80s synthesizer pop, while still maintaining the Koletzkieske sound dynamic. "This Is Leisure" is based around Mieze Katz's sexy voice and a seductive guitar song-pattern. "Zuckerwatte" is a very fine electro-pop tune, and "Kusskompatibel" and "Warschauer StraÄYe" harken to the artist's first years in Berlin and his love for house music. "Hypnotized" is a great, shining bright light of pop music that has already made massive waves in Germany. "Headshaped Box" encapsulates what indietronic sounds like in the year 2009: symphonic, melodic and simply unique, and "These Habits" is a downbeat, trip-hop groove, featuring the wonderful vocals of 17 year-old Pyur. Last up is a bonus track: Oliver Koletzki remixes "Nimm Mich Mit" by the electronic boy-band Die Raketen. Oliver Koletzki is not your average techno producer. His productions and his sense for original music also have a deep rooting within pop culture. Thus, GroÄYstadtmĤrchen is the logical consequence from two decades of intense musical production. Here comes a mature, yet still playful pop album that manages to combine many different influences into one harmonious oeuvre.

Pink Razors - Leave Alive CD (No Idea) [NIR258] $12.00
In the wake of great change for punk-pop purveyors PINK RAZORS, their second album Leave Alive reflects the band's transformations. The band's penchant for hooks, crunch, and speed remain intact here but are given more room to breathe, resulting in longer, more developed pop constructions that explore different tempos. Early listeners cite a more pop-punk Superchunk, or a cleaner Scared of Chaka.

Pleg - The Metamorphosis CD (U-cover) [10562] $16.75
Pleg is an experimental IDM project by Bartosz Dziadosz Based in Katowice, Poland; Pleq has developed his highly-synthetic competencies through a series of dis-reality attempts, monastery supervision and a romantic way of handling peer pressure. His motives in sound resemble an abandoned ironworks garage during the industrial revolution, where melancholy is paired with harmonies of magnetizing structure. Melodic IDM based on click 'n cuts of a very high level. On track 1 and 7 the addional voice is by Chihiro and on track 9 the voice comes from Building castles out of matchsticks. Excellent!

Soon after his arrival he puts together a group, which he calls THE PRIME ELEMENT. In 1976 they record an album entitled Alborada. This unique session is a musical journey that immediately represents all aspects of Franzetti's talent as an arranger, composer and musician. Seeking his own style, developing his versatility and translating it into a intelligent deep mix of fusion, spiritual-modal jazz and soul. The result is this rare beautiful gem. Reboot/Sascha Dive - From Frankfurt To Mannheim 2CD (Cecille Records) [CECFFTM001CD] $21.25
Cécille Records and Sonido present From Frankfurt To Mannheim, a compilation paying tribute to the unstoppable, German sound of the Rhein Main area and the cities of Frankfurt and Mannheim. The very special thing about this compilation is that Reboot and Sascha Dive, who have mixed the CD, are from the area, and the tracks it contains have either been released on a label located there or were produced by an artist from the Rhein Main area. This particular region has long been established as a mecca for lovers of credible house sound, implementing a new drive in the movement, in whose wake labels such as Cécille, Oslo, 8Bit and La Peña have agitated both the national and international music scene. Since the beginning of the '90s, Frankfurt has been known as the stronghold of techno -- now, a young generation of highly creative house-heads continue that tradition. Reboot, Nick Curly, Johnny D., Sascha Dive, Federico Molinari and Markus Fix are only a couple of names living somewhere within the 80kms between Frankfurt and Mannheim, distributing their personal interpretation of electronic music from there. This 2CD collection assembles other area scene-makers and inhabitants of labels such as Deep Vibes, Cocoon, Playhouse, Raum Musik, Be Chosen, and Connaisseur into one town-hall dancefloor meeting. Other artists include: Miss Fitz, Ilario Alicante, Robert Dietz, Losoul, Jamy Wing, La Peña, Andomat 3000, Nekes, Shaun Reeves & Miss Fix, Anthea & Celler, DJ Dove, Lakeof, Ricardo Villalobos, Cassy, Christian Burkhardt, Seth Troxler, Tedd Patterson, Samuel Davis, Wireman, and DJ QU.

The nine tracks around three different moods perfectly fitting to eachother makes one dreamy trip of 45 minutes of beautiful minimal sweet drones.

Sankt Otten - Morgen Wieder Lustig CD (Hidden Shoal) [HSR055] $11.50
RELEASE DATE: 09-21-2009
Sankt Otten's fourth album sees the duo's sound evolving once again, while retaining the undeniable hallmarks of atmosphere, melodic dexterity and depth. Morgen Wieder Lustig employs stacks of luscious synthesizers, with knowing nods to fellow Germans Kraftwerk and Klaus Schulze, alongside Oliver Klemm's hallmark soaring guitar drones and Stephan Otten's unmistakable rhythms. The album presents a musical vision that is both epic and personal -- a kind of internal cinema. Single "Lustig, lustig demain encore lustig' is a prime example of Sankt Otten's glorious new direction. The track acts like a magnet, irresistibly drawing the listener along with its hypnotic drums. Elsewhere the album is soaked in majestic refrains, demonstrating Sankt Otten's control of rhythm and texture. While their early sonic experiments explored the brooding and frayed edges of ambient, post-rock and jazz, these new songs push this relationship to a new level. Morgen Wieder Lustig shifts from the head-rush ambience of "Das bezahlte Lob' to the dark and twisted post-jazz of "Fromme Lļgen'. Just when you think you have the album pegged, "X fļr U' drags you on a melancholic, Klaus Schulze-inspired sc-fi odyssey.

Scamall - A World Behind The Silence CD (Generator) [10569] $18.00
In the beginning, there appear some harsh, neurotic breakbeats as if it were a Warp Records production (compare Aphex Twin's vinyl EP's). "Offline" is nonetheless not a typical Scamall track, rather a mere introduction to a mysterious, slow-motion, virtually beatless record. Scamall's music just cannot be easily classified; broadly speaking, it's murky, grainy, ferric-crunchy ambient-music, but there is more to style diversity than this. Beyond any doubt, this CD is a tough one for "traditional" electronica lovers, well, even devoted ambient-fans could find this album quite a challenge. Still, the most important fact about "A World." is, that Scamall catches our attention immediately in the beginning and keeps us in tension until the very last second. Scamall was definitely able here to build his own fascinating world, and this he did do with just a little help from such familiar sound structures, one could say. When it works, it means that he's not "just another keyboard player", he's an artist.

Shit And Shine - 229-2299 Girls Against Shit! CD (Riot Season) [REPOSE022CD] $16.00
"Shit And Shine return with their fourth Riot Season album -- following You're Lucky To Have Friends Like Us (REPOSELP04), Jealous Of Shit And Shine (REPOSECD011) and last year's acclaimed Cherry (REPOSECD017X/LP017) -- after a link-up with the Load Records stable for their last release. Continuing in their usual Riot Season style, what we have on offer here is the bizarre, the puzzling and the downright groovy. The epic, drawn-out single-riff jams that make up their legendary live shows are replaced by their trademark off-the-wall lunacy, making for a fun-packed adventure akin to biking trips with friends, and the local mental as a child. 229-2299 Girls Against Shit could be the soundtrack to that summer, the beating of rats with sticks, the shooting of girls with gat guns, swimming in the rancid cut and the discovering of dead dogs and maggots. Ah, those were the days my friend."

Snuff Crew - Snuff Crew CD (International Deejay Gigolo) [GIGOLO254CD] $16.00
This is the debut full-length release from mysterious German collective, Snuff Crew. For those familiar with their previous releases on labels such as Playhouse, Hour House Is Your Rush, and of course, Gigolo Records, you will be pleased to know it is business as usual on this album. According to Snuff Crew, if dance music was a building, then the 707 would be one of the principal foundations, having defined a generation of producers from Marshall Jefferson to Aphex Twin, Plastikman to Phil Collins, Daft Punk to Snuff Crew! Since dance music's inception, acid house, or the house of jack, has spawned a gospel spread by disciples that span generations. The Snuff Crew represent a new generation of "Jackers" that bring a new definition of Chicago house to dancefloors, and with this they join an illustrious list of artists that include Kikumoto Allstars, Andreas Gehm, KiNK and Neville Watson. Like these producers, their arsenal is part analog and part digital, using high-tech and up-to-date software to record timeless and irreplaceable hardware such as the 707. Their ideas for music often come from dancing in a club to listening to their favorite DJ sets or radio from Clone and early mixes from WBMX, collecting old Chicago and Italo-disco records, etc., etc. Jackin' trax sit between rougher cuts and even deeper moments, soundtracked by the oh-so-familiar beats of the 707 and the pitched-down vocals of the Snuff Crew. Snuff Crew's production coupled with old skool compression and mastering techniques give us a sonic modulation that makes this album unmistakable. The album opener is "Berghain," the title being a nod to the internationally-acclaimed club in Berlin, Snuff Crew's spiritual home. Other themes range from spreading the Gospel of Jack ("The Mission"), to sex, ("Desire"), freedom ("Free"), the eternal human battle to maintain some sort of say in your own destiny ("Control"), our deepest emotions ("Temple"), or simple excess ("Storm"). But when all this is said and done it is an album about jacking... weird, pure and simple. Featuring guest artist Rebecca Mellone.

Tobi Neumann & Onur Ozer - Green & Blue - Tobi Neumann & Onur Ä-zer In The Mix 2CD (Cocoon) [CORMIX025CD] $21.25
The Cocoon label presents the second edition of the mix CD associated with the Green & Blue Open Air festival in Obertschausen near Frankfurt, Germany, mixed by veteran DJs Tobi Neumann and Onur Ä-zer. Taking place every year on the first weekend in September, Cocoon-head Sven VĤth and his crew transform the festival grounds into a dream of green meadows, blue water, lots of trees and light installations, laser shows, fireworks, and, above all, music from the best artists that the electronic music scene has to offer. In 2009, the two mixed CDs are manned by two DJs who are able to draw upon both long-time experience and innovation in sound: Tobi Neumann and Onur Ä-zer. On these two CDs (each DJ is responsible for one mix), the two excellent turntable artists -- who, as a team are also known as Sensitiva -- give an outline of the most current and the hottest techno and tech-house tracks. They don't rely on big names and safe hits only, but also produce some real pearls out of their record case again and again. Besides names like Reboot, Matthias Kaden, Sascha Dive, Tolga Fidan and Daze Maxim, one can also find the young Romanian Dan Andrei, who presents his first international release on the Frankfurt imprint Be Chosen, after having released several records on Arpiar earlier. Also Cécille Records is represented with both well-established artists, such as Reboot, and promising new talents such as the young Italian Leon. Besides his brand-new track "Mare Maris," Onur Ä-zer has also included jewels like Taron Trekka's "Radio Fligg," which has been praised by the German magazine de:bug as "funky, slamming, wide and perfect." In short: an extremely appropriate soundtrack for the party, reflecting the summery green and cerulean blue of this utopian, future-forward festival. Other artists include: John Daly, Cally, Precious System, Solomun & Jackmate, Shlomi Aber & Kenny Larkin, William Kouam Djoko, Samuel Davis, Nina Kraviz, Kenny Hawks & Louise Caver, Mirko Loko, Liovizna, Livio & Roby, Anonym, Super Flu, 95th North, Moodymanc, DJ Wild, and Caretaker.

Trio Ifriqiya - Petite Planete CD (World Village) [WORLD479034] $18.00
"Fayçal El Mezouar was trained at the music school El Kordobia in Tlemcen, Algeria. For this trio, he has gathered around him jazz pianist and improviser Didier Freboeuf and drummer Emile Biayenda, founder of the band Les Tambours de Brazza. Their music blends many styles including Arab-Andalous, traditional, jazz and contemporary. It highlights a kind of common musical language where elements from the Orient, Africa and Europe cross paths."

Vampires of Dartmoore, The - Dracula's Music Cabinet CD (B-Music) [BMS015CD] $15.00
"You couldn't script it. You are nineteen minutes and twenty-two seconds in to your peak-season cruise around the Kraut-schlock peripheries. To say the trip has been an eventful one would be an understatement -- you don't know what to expect next and your 12" x 12" Germanic tour guide has proved quite unreliable thus far. As your diamond tipped vessel maneuvers through the grooves of your 9th horrific attraction (entitled 'The Soaked Body') the soundtrack awkwardly becomes background music and you are overcome with the sound of gushing water. 'Help!' you think sarcastically, the music, or is that muzak, is drowning! This is the movie soundtrack to a film that never existed. This is the movie soundtrack by the band that was never requested. These were the sound library musicians who had to invent their own clients and imaginary cast, crew and plot to get their music heard, by a niche audience, before floating deep into the depths of the rare record reservoir gasping for breath. To take a cinematic cue the record in question is the euro-trash-pop equivalent of Jean Renoirs' tragic / triumphant Boudu character who as a homeless, confused and desolate down-and-out plunged to the depths to be unwillingly rescued, resuscitated then after gradually winning the hearts of an entire family becomes respected and revered as royalty. Over 20 years after the mad scientists, Dr. Horst and Ackermann, first breathed life into this short-lived beast, brave and intrepid vinyl explorers have sporadically returned to the doors of Dracula's Music Cabinet to resurrect the sonic spooks and mutated melodies to share with nerds, mods, rockers, hip-hoppers, psych-nuts and Kraut-siders alike. The lifeless corpses of The Vampires Of Dartmoore that lay six feet beneath the belly of the 'Eins Deutschmark' bins has since crept through the record collections of the aforementioned social circles devouring continental currencies and demanding random ransoms of 200 Euros plus sweat, tears (of laughter) and a lot of blood."

Various Artists - Wayfaring Strangers - Lonesome Heroes CD (Numero Group) [NUM028] $15.50
The standard route for popular music-songwriter to publisher to label to artist-survived the '60s only to be overrun by a generation of folkies agog at giants strumming in the rearview. They were inspired by iconoclasts from Charley Patton to Woody Guthrie, artists entirely reliant on one guitar, one voice, and one's own words. But our heroes were not the agrarian luddites of yesterfolk. They cheered when Dylan plugged in and were rapt when Lennon and McCartney modernized songcraft, making the studio process just as important to song creation as setting the chords and words down. The resultant work wasn't as readily reduced to words on paper as the Broadside pages that preceded them-success relied heavily on the way these songs were captured and transmitted: the sound of the room, the turn of a phrase, the odd way a piano got mic'ed, or the way a guitar fell perfectly out of tune. As long as the end result was somber, dark, and meditative, it didn't matter if it was a conscious choice or a happily unhappy accident. Each of our lonesome heroes began his journey from a wildly divergent place. Some of the stops may been similar, but each was made in different ways at different times for different reasons. All these travelers somehow found their ultimate destination on this disc. From artists who never played one professional gig to those that never stopped playing professionally, whose only shared experience is a journey set upon with no known end, sharing their thoughts, emotions and dreams with a lonely few along the way.

VHS Head - Video Club CD (Skam) [SKALD023CD] $9.00
Skam presents Blackpool, UK recording artist, VHS Head. VHS Head began making music in 1999. Using video tape as the primary sound source and '80s B-movies as his inspiration, this music is a collage of vocals, stuttering guitars and drum hits taken from a vast amount of ex-rental videos, teleporting the listener back to the golden era of the VHS format. Summons almost epileptic memory-recall of every single cheesy, synth-driven '80s-movie opening/ending credit sequence you've ever heard, spliced and mashed and cut together into one percussive, glitchy, retro mind-f***. The CD is housed in a limited edition black jewel case, containing a video club membership card. Grab your bag of Doritos and get in the basement.

Vladimir Hirsch - Contemplatio per Nexus CD (Ars Benevola Mater) [10557] $19.50
Contemplatio per nexus, op. 77, for integrated techniques is an extent work (79 min.) on philosophical-teological theme, based on the writing "Teologia spiritualis mystica", dealing with the process of transformation of human mind during mystical contemplation. The composition describes relatively exactly all phases of it, beeing divided into two seemingly thematically antagonistic parts (complementary-affirmatory) that are but indiscerptible compounds of natural contemplative process. Particular periods are represented by subsections continuously merged one another. The album is an intense musical dialogue between space and detail, a kind of transcription of the relation between human and cosmos, the fight and reconcilliation of intrinsic and extrinsic, real and surreal world. Polymodal architecture of compositions, their sound characteristics, oscillating from perceptional - not voluminal - levels on the border of subconsciousness (Oratio quietis / A Quiet Prayer) over X-ray radiation from obscurity (Obscuritas) to excruciating strenght (Tortio Sensuum / Senses Torture) and cohesion of integrated techniques of instrumentation make from this album one of the author's major works. Reception of this opus, expressed with very high autenticity and exposed emotions, needs absolute concetration and submersion of receiving subject, invoking really the state similar to mystical contemplation.

Vladimir Hirsch - Les Scenes Ardentes CD (Ars Benevola Mater) [10558] $19.50
Compositions for integrated ensemble, choir and sola, op. 75. A collection of scenic works, adapted as conceptual album, originally composed or arranged for theatre performances in the period between 1994 and 2003. Rewritten, restructuralized, rearranged and remixed in 2006. The album represents author¥s typical consistent, achingly nervous harmonic structures with rich inner life and articulation, corresponding with mighty, monolitic sounds of orchestration in original integrated arrangement, ending in the creation of the order of primarily chaotic particulars. Restructuralized, re-arranged and remixed in 2006.

Musicians: VladimÌr Hirsch - keyboards, synthesizers, samplers, drums, vocals, programming; participation of Martina Sanollov· and Dominika Karovsk· (vocals) and Czech Integrated Ensemble and Choir. Mastered by Vojtch HaHka. Produced by Tom Saivon.

Volosy - Bathing Ov The Leather Horse CD (Ars Benevola Mater) [10559] $19.50
Volosy ("Hair" in russian). A hippie seed poured on industrial soil. Typical russian way of bringing turbulence into romantic waters to bath a leather horse. No postmodern tinkling or doubts. Thick paste of psychedelic industrial sound obscured by baroque guitar.A strange artwork by several russian artists.

Voodeux - The Paranormal CD (Mothership) [MSHIP019CD] $16.00
3x12" version previously released on Mothership, now available on CD with an extra track, "Skeleton Key." This is the debut full-length release by Boston/Philly duo Voodeux. Two years ago, on the East Coast of America, a couple of highly technical production wizards joined forces and created their own genre of strange and creepy techno under the moniker, Voodeux. Tanner Ross and James Watts first released The Curse EP on Mothership in 2008 with great success. With DJ support rolling in from everywhere, Claude VonStroke soon commissioned them to record a full-length album of this new moody sound. The Paranormal is a concentrated vision of myth and mysterious beats, exploring the eerie afterlife side of techno like no other artists have done to date. It is a 10-track vision of ghosts and goblins hiding in the closet (or lurking in the dark corners of the dancefloor), ready to scare the daylights out of you. Using dark funk, ghoulish atmospheres, quizzical beats, growling, ominous vocal stabs and futuristic production, Voodeux is staking their claim as the next generation of American techno. The Paranormal is Halloween on wax, and a minimal techno masterwork for the modern underworld.

Wye Oak - Knot CD (Merge) [MRG346] $13.25
ANDY STACK and JENN WASNER spent much of the first WYE OAK record, If Children, submerging their songs of youthful love and dread in a distortion haze, but the band's new record, The Knot, starts with a bell. From the first, clarion-clear note, Wye Oak's collective vision is sharpened on The Knot, a set of songs that sway, stretch, and scream while always reaching outward for personal connection. As ever, Stack's production layers his own multi-instrumental arrangements over Wasner's woozy compositions, but musically, too, things sound more precise. There is perhaps less squalling feedback than before, but lingering violin and pedal steel bring out the droning Americana that has always informed Wye Oak's sound.

Zomby - One Foot Ahead Of The Other CD (Ramp) [RAMP022CD] $12.75
"Once upon a time, there was a band called The Cure, who had a front man named Robert Smith. Robert was an emotional being, who was always looking to test his boundaries and search out new experiences. After touring Germany in the early '80s with his band of eyeliner encrusted over-emotional Goth-men, Robert began a non-sexual but intensely intimate relationship with Florian Schneider, front man of electro forefathers, Kraftwerk. The unlikely couple decided to experiment with the then new science of gene splicing. After a few horrific failed attempts, they finally managed to successfully cross their DNA into the vessel of a baby boy. Months passed, and it became disturbingly apparent that the two men, who at the time were at the peak of their careers, had created a being of pure evil. They decided to enlist the help of the 4'2 purple sex-pest Prince to drown the young baby in a sea of colours and tears, and try as hard as they can to move on with their lives alone, ever trying to forget the horrific experiences the child had graced upon their lives. For many years, the baby's soul circled the earth, crying pixels and watching women get undressed in locker rooms and stuff, for he is just a soul, and invisible to the human eye, and can get away with that kind of thing. The child found out there was a way to come back from the dead in some kind of Hellraiser type puzzle themed ritual, and hark, the boy (who was now a man) did indeed rise from the dead, and yes, he did once again walk the earth with the sole intent of wrong-doing. That boy is Zomby, and this is his new CD."

Daren Bartlett - O Zelador: A Story Of Capoeira DVD (Bantam Films) [BAN001DVD] $21.25
Shot in Brazil over a five-year period, O Zelador ("The Caretaker") explores the life of Master Russo who lives with his family in the intimidating Baixada Fulminese neighborhood. At an early age, Russo discovered the value of capoeira: the music, physical agility, self-defense, and philosophy of this Afro-Brazilian cultural manifestation helped Russo endure a life fraught with poverty and danger. Master Russo was part of a group of youths who created the now-famous capoeira street roda ("circle") of Caxias, located in Rio de Janeiro's tough suburbs. This traditional manifestation of capoeira has passed through three decades, including Brazil's difficult military dictatorship years, emerging today as a unique example of Afro-Brazilian culture. UK director Daren Bartlett's intelligent and lovingly-crafted documentary is an intimate portrait of Russo, his wife and sons, and his loyal group of students who offer willing testimony to the fact that Russo's love, knowledge, and guidance have been an inspiration. A remarkable and engaging individual, Bartlett also uses Russo's life and work to detail capoeira's wider place within Brazilian culture and political history, a place ably supported by expert use of a wealth of archive footage. World premiered at the São Paulo International Film Festival, this is a fascinating and stirring work. This is a Region-free NTSC DVD, for North America. DVD extras include a director's commentary, interviews, extra capoeira scenes, and a booklet. Running time: 84 minutes. Language: Portuguese with English subtitles. Aspect ratio: 4:3 full frame.

Abstract Truth - Totum CD (Shadoks Music) [SHAD111CD] $16.00
This is the debut release by South African prog/jazz/folk/psych band, Abstract Truth. The band existed only for a very short time, but it was a time of super-creativity. They exploded onto the Durban music scene early in 1969, released two studio albums during 1970 on EMI, of which this is the first. Comprised mostly of reworkings of songs by Donovan, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, etc., plus one original song, this is excellent early '70s melodic, wistful freak-rock blended with African rhythms in an assorted panoply of instruments keyboards, flutes, electric guitars, saxophone, percussion, etc. A refreshing approach with an eastern touch. If you like UK bands such as Quintessence, If and Bloodwyn Pig, this album goes in the same direction. It is more trippy/stoned and acoustic than their follow-up from the same year, Silver Trees. Ken E. Henson on guitar, vocals and sitar; Robbie Pavid on percussion; Brian Gibson on bass & vocals; Sean Bergin on sax & flute.

Abstract Truth - Silver Trees CD (Shadoks Music) [SHAD112CD] $16.00
Shadoks presents the second 1970 album by South African prog/jazz/psych band, Abstract Truth. Silver Trees is a milestone in South African music among bands like Freedoms Children and Third Eye. Musically, it follows the same routes as UK bands like Bloodwyn Pig, Traffic, Spooky Tooth and many others. Unlike their debut release, Silver Trees is comprised of all-original material: progressive underground music, meticulously crafted, with organ, guitars, flutes, sax and great vocals, sometimes with Zappa-style guitar solos. A South African classic of rock experimentation and a true mind-blower. Musicians: Ken E. Henson (guitar, vocals); Peter Measroch (piano, organ, flute, harpsichord, vocals); George Wolfaardt (bass, flute, drums, vocals); Sean Bergin (flute, saxophone).

Action - Action + 3 Bonus Tracks CD (Garden of Delights) [149] $19.25
ACTION from Zweibruecken were playing organ-dominated progressive hard rock in the tradition of Deep Purple or the early Uriah Heep. The ideas and their execution are good; the way the singer tries to copy Ian Gillan, however, seems at times a bit artificial. In the summer of 1972, Action recorded three tracks for demo purposes at the Kerston studio. Only in 1997, the recordings by chance caught the attention of the small Dortmund label Very Good Records. The label released them as LP together with a live track in an edition of 500 copies on black and 100 copies on green vinyl. At the end of 2008, Action joined together once more for two professionally recorded gigs. The one from 11/22/2008 has been added to the CD as bonus. The tracks from 1972 were drawn from the master tapes, as well as the new ones.

B.B. Blunder - Workers' Playtime 2CD (Sunbeam Records) [SBR5072CD] $21.25
Sunbeam Records presents the fullest-ever edition of the post-Blossom Toes classic Workers' Playtime from B.B. Blunder, including an extra CD of bonus tracks. Following a nasty car crash en route home from a gig in December 1969, UK psych heroes Blossom Toes decided to split. Having backed Julie Driscoll at a handful of gigs in early 1970, guitar wizard "Little" Brian Godding and ace bassist "Big" Brian Belshaw decided to keep playing together, and added former bandmate Kevin Westlake to form B.B. Blunder. Described as "psycho-rock" in the contemporary press, the remarkable album they made over the ensuing months is presented here in its fullest-ever version, including a full bonus disc of previously-unreleased out-takes, guest appearances by Driscoll, Mick Taylor, Brian Auger and others, and a packed booklet featuring detailed historical notes, rare photos and an introduction from Godding himself.

Blossom Toes - What On Earth: Demos & Outtakes 1967-69 CD (Sunbeam Records) [SBR5071CD] $16.00
Following the November 1967 release of We Are Ever So Clean, beloved '60s UK psych group Blossom Toes spent 18 months gigging hard and recording numerous tracks that, for one reason or another, never saw the light of day -- until now. Culled from long-lost acetates and tapes, What On Earth spans home demos and studio recordings, including previously-unheard songs as well as early renditions of material that appeared on their July 1969 swansong, If Only For A Moment. Ranging from delicate ballads to heavy psychedelic rock, the set is a veritable treasure-trove for the band's legion of admirers. Includes a detailed booklet with rare photographs.

Erik Satie - 42 Vexations (1893) CD (Sub Rosa) [SR294CD] $7.25
Erik Satie's 1893 Vexations; performed by pianist Stephane Ginsburgh. This piece is musique d'ameublement -- literally, "furniture music," the phrase coined by Satie in 1917, where he identifies sound as drapes, tiling, wallpaper -- items belonging to the environment and changing it simply by being in it, by actually becoming elements of the space. This recording is the second installment in a series of furniture music (after Marcel Duchamp's Musical Erratum), and is unique in that it calls for 840 repetitions of a single motif. John Cale recalls a particularly grueling 1963 performance under the direction of John Cage: "Between 9 and 10 September 1963, I was one of a relay team of pianists, under the direction of John Cage, who played Vexations by Eric Satie at Pocket Theatre, 100 Third Avenue near 13th Street, in 18 hours and 40 minutes. The 180 notes of this 80-second work were played 840 times. The whole thing was John Cage's idea. The admission was

Far East Family Band - Nipponjin CD (Phoenix Records) [ASH3009CD] $16.00
Regarded by many as the first Japanese progressive rock group, the Far East Family Band featured the keyboardist and future new age composer, Kitaro. A keyboard-dominated space rock band, the Far East Family Band played extended compositions that brought comparisons to Tangerine Dream and early Pink Floyd. Nipponjin (1975), the band's second album under their new name (the trio changed their name from Far Out to Far East Family Band following the release of Nihonjin which appeared on the Denon label in 1973), featured re-recorded material from the previous The Cave Down To Earth (1974) as well as Nihonjin and was produced by Tangerine Dream's Klaus Schultz. The band's synthesizer-drenched sound had much to do with Kitaro and Schultz meeting during a trip to Europe. One of Japan's earliest prog bands, Far East Family Band became hugely popular in Japan and also achieved considerable attention in Europe. The group went on to release two further albums, Parallel World (1976) and Tenkujin (1977), but it is Kitaro who enjoyed lasting fame for his legendary Silk Road albums. Digitally remastered, numbered limited edition of 1,000 copies only in a unique card wallet.

FM3 - Buddha Machine II Aqua Soundbox object (FM3) [BUDDHA02-AQUA] $21.75
Two new colors of the Buddha Machine 2.0 -- aqua and lime. Blurring the line between music box and musical instrument, the Buddha Machine 2.0 is an interactive album that lets users customize the listening experience. Drop the pitch and the music ebbs in a low ambient drone. Boost the speed and suddenly it's alive with melody. Add a few more machines, set them at different speeds and you have an evolving audio perfume. Plug it into a mixer, add some beats or vocals or guitar... FM3 won't mind. In fact, they encourage people to use the Buddha Machine as inspiration. Since its release in 2005, the original Buddha Machine has sold more than 50,000 units worldwide and has won praise from artists as diverse as Daft Punk, Gorillaz, Low, Monolake, Sunn O))), Blixa Bargeld and Mike Patton. Legendary producer Brian Eno was the first customer for the original Buddha Machine and nearly 3 years later told FM3 he still "cherishes" his purchase! Similar in shape and design to the original Buddha Machine, but boasting more robust construction and improved sound quality. For those who haven't experienced the pleasure of the original, the Buddha Machine is essentially a small plastic box that plays ambient loops. The loops repeat endlessly until the "track" is switched or the two AA batteries (not included) run out. The machine has its own built-in speaker and there is also a headphone jack for a more personal experience. But the charm of the device isn't nearly as specific: the Buddha Machine has a calming presence in today's fast-paced world. Its charm mixes with FM3's innovative music to provide the owner with an experience that is hard to define. Essentially, it's a box with a life, a tool for living, and to many, it's a friend. Founded in 1999 by Christiaan Virant and Zhang Jian, FM3 are considered pioneers of electronic music in China. Inspired by Buddhist prayer boxes found at temples around Asia, the duo released the original Buddha Machine in April 2005, winning acclaim in publications including BoingBoing.net, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, XLR8R, and basically everywhere else.

FM3 - Buddha Machine II Lime Soundbox object (FM3) [BUDDHA02-LIME] $21.75
Lime-colored Buddha Machine. Buddha Machine 2.0 -- nine new loops. 3 new colors. Pitch bend.

Hardal - Nasil? Ne Zaman? CD (Shadoks Music) [SHAD113CD] $16.00
This is the first album by the Turkish band Hardal ("Mustard") which was recorded in Turkey in 1979 by Sukru Yuksel (guitar), Aydin Sencan (bass), Cahit Kukul (guitar) and Sedat Avdikoglou (drums). The band was only known by a very small insider-group, but those fans just adored Hardal. The secret of Hardal's small popularity is that in 1979, the Turkish rock scene was comatose. Cem Karaca left for Germany, Erkin Koray moved to Canada, and Edip Akbayram got stuck because of his political ambitions. Only Baris Manco was still on the road. To start a new band was tough to do in Turkey. Hardal also recorded two later albums. The music is the best Turkish progressive underground you can think of, filled with guitars, synth sounds, great Eastern-vibe vocals and harmonies, and pumping rhythms, as good as the best Koray tracks, for sure. This album was never reissued before, and Shadoks is proud to present it to most people for the first time.

It's All Meat - It's All Meat CD (Green Tree) [GTR131CD] $21.00
"It's All Meat were a late 60s/early 70s band that hailed from Toronto and released this excellent album in 1970 (Columbia). Prior to that, It's All Meat had been known as The Underworld. The Underworld released a superb, crude garage single ('Go Away'/'Bound' -- the label is Regency) in 1968 and also recorded some fine unreleased material captured on acetate. As mentioned before, some of the members of The Underworld would form It's All Meat. In 1969 this new group would release their debut 45, 'Feel It' coupled with 'I Need Some Kind of Definitive Commitment.' The A-side combined MC5 energy with New York Dolls-style swagger and features plenty of feedback and great guitar breaks. It's one of the great proto-punkers. Their album was released the following year and featured 8 fresh original numbers written by drummer Rick McKIM and keyboard player/lead vocalist Jed MacKAY. There are a bunch of good, solid stonesy garage rockers that form the axis of this lp: 'Make Some Use Of Your Friends,' 'Roll My Own,' 'You Brought Me Back To My Senses,' and 'You Don't Know The Time You Waste.' The latter track would be released as the group's second and final single but 'Roll My Own' and 'Make Some Use Of Your Friends' were just as good, featuring fine psychedelic guitar work and raw vocals. Other note worthy tracks flirted with blues ('Self-Confessed Lover') and folk-rock ('If Only') but the lp's brightest moments were its two 9-minute marathon compositions. 'Crying Into A Deep Lake' was full-blown Doors psychedelia with spacey keyboards and spooky Jim Morrison influenced vocals. The other lengthy track, 'Sunday Love,' sounds like a strange Lou Reed/John Cale concoction with lots a great psychedelic guitar noise and soft folk-like passages sprinkled with light garage keyboards. So while these last two tracks are very long, they never wear out their welcome and are required listening for both garage and psych fans. The album's production teeters between a primitive recording sound and the typical major label gloss, making it just right. It's All Meat is a fine, consistent trip all the way thru. It's one of the best late period (really late) garage rock albums I know of. The album's hard rock and proto-punk sounds give it a nice, visceral edge." Bonus tracks include 6 unreleased tracks and demos (1969-1971) and their first single "Feel It."

Mary Roos - Amour Toujours - The French Song Collection 1972-1975 CD (Bureau B) [BB042CD] $16.00
Bureau B presents a selection of the finest French works from native German Mary Roos (born Rosemarie Schwab), recorded between 1972 and 1975 -- including 18 tracks on CD for this first time. In the early '70s, Mary Roos sang one French song after another, working with composers and lyricists like Michel Fugain, George Costa and Pierre Delanoe, under the guidance of top-flight producers. As one of the key figures in the light/easy listening scene, Mary Roos had her own section in record shops. The hotelier's daughter from Bingen on the Rhine was an ideal aesthetic ambassador for the genre, known as "Jet-Set-Musique" across the border in France -- discreet music with an infectious feel-good factor. TV star and music expert Götz Alsmann once suggested "Mary Roos deserves a medal as the German Dionne Warwick," and it was a fair comment to make. She is one of the best vocalists that Germany has ever produced, her big breakthrough coming in 1970 with the song "Arizona Man," penned by Giorgio Moroder. The album that followed led the manager of The Fifth Dimension to proclaim "she would go down great in America." Mary did indeed go west, but only as far as the next-door neighbors. While many a French chanteuse was heading to Germany to entertain an audience caught between sentimentality and party-pop, Mary Roos was heading in the opposite direction: Paris was to become the city of her triumphs. Blessed with a perfect ear, nobody could tell she wasn't French: "Each song was written out phonetically for me, I just had to read the cards." To this day, the French swear that Mary Roos sang without a trace of an accent, as her French sounded impeccable. In the same year, she performed a number of sell-out shows at the mecca of French entertainment, the Olympia in Paris, to loud applause. Shortly afterwards, she released her first album in the French language, the eponymous Mary Roos, followed a year later by the Direction L'Aventure LP. Passionate French love songs, flawlessly rendered. Housed in a digipack with a 20-page booklet with copious liner notes by Jan Feddersen and photographs.

Nicolas Collins - Devil's Music CD (EM Records) [EM1086CD] $22.00
EM Records presents the CD and vinyl reissue of U.S. experimental electro-acoustic artist/circuit bender Nicolas Collins' live radio sampling masterpiece, Devil's Music, originally released on vinyl in 1986. Born and raised in New York City, Nicolas Collins has been hugely influential in contemporary electronic music, having performed world-wide for many years, collaborating with Christian Marclay, Elliot Sharp, David Shea, David Tudor and John Zorn, composing, recording, modifying circuits and inventing instruments, and spreading the good word through his writing (Handmade Electronic Music -- The Art Of Hardware Hacking 2nd Edition; Routledge, 2009) and teaching (Department of Sound, School of the Art Institute of Chicago). The pieces released here are only part of his ongoing, multifaceted and truly experimental activities. This edition of Devil's Music is served up in all its stuttering glory, a time capsule of the mid-'80s New York City airwaves, acclaimed by Philip Sherburne as "an early template for techno," with a feel somewhat akin to scratching turntablist madness, a block-rocking party put through a blender and re-assembled by body-popping demons. Also included is "Real Landscape," a 1987 "remix" recorded in Europe (originally released on cassette), and (CD-only) "The Spark Heard 'Round The World," a fascinating tape piece sourced from multi-band radio and scanner recordings, plus a video of a live performance of "Devil's Music" from 1987 in Birmingham, Alabama. And if you're still not satisfied, CD purchasers also get a downloadable software version of the original hardware circuitry used for Devil's Music which, a la David Tudor, constitutes the original composition itself. Make your own "Devil's Music!" Devil's Music is available on 2LP vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, and double CD in a triple-gatefold sleeve (with bonus audio track plus CD-Extra and software). 24-bit digitally remastered; containing a booklet with text in English & Japanese, including rare photos.

Oda - Oda CD (Green Tree) [GTR132CD] $21.00
"Reissue on CD of rare album by USA local heavy psych to psychic hard rock band ODA. Led by the axe-craftman Randy Oda on splattering guitar, shooting off some furious leads all over the place. Originally released privately in 1972. Digitally remastered taken from the original master tape and including 4 pre-ODA bonus tracks."

Various Artists - Piccadilly Sunshine Part One: British Pop Psych And ... CD (Past & Present) [PAPR2107CD] $16.00
Other Flavours 1968-1970. Before expert compiler Psychomania found a limited amount of fame and even less of a fortune curating the widely-respected Electric Asylum series, he cut his musical molars on the little-known Piccadilly Sunshine series (most tracks were originally released on the Desiree label in 2003), which took the wide-eyed aficionado into the deep and wondrous valleys of British pop music culture. Daring to bring forth the once-overlooked and sadly-neglected songs that were laid to waste in a saturated wonderland of suburban teenage pop, Psychomania asks the listener to join him as he tiptoes barefoot through the late '60s and early '70s in Great Britain's vast and glorious cultural wastepaper basket. Stepping amongst the 20 flower-powered trippers presented here, they have been lovingly restored to their former glory. Artists include: Jason James, Peppermint Circus, Roger Bloom's Hammer, Alan David, Studio Six, The Magicians, Tin Tin, The Cups, Billy Boyle, Sounds Inc., Svensk, Christopher, Merlin Q, Mighty Joe Young, The Nocturnes, Mixture, Mood Of Hamilton, Jon, Tony Fabian, and Tim Andrews.

Various Artists - Science Fiction Dance Party (Dance With Action) CD (B-music) [BMS016CD] $15.00
"Finders Keepers is proud to present the mythical follow up to Heribert Thusek and Horst Ackermann's horror cash-in album Dracula's Music Cabinet. Back in 1968 a pair of Germanic behind-the-scenes sound librarians called Horst Ackermann and Heribert Thusek left a tiny, but indelible, pinprick on the history of German pop in the misshaped form of a sexy horror cash-in concept album called Dracula's Music Cabinet. Shelved at a micro-cosmic axis where Krautrock meets lesbian vampire horrortica and easy listening meets psychedelia the delayed reaction of this mutant concoction eventually exploded in the mid 1990s in the hands of a generation of 'record diggers' sending currency-crushing tremors through the wallets of mods, rockers, hip-hoppers, psych-nuts and kraut-kompletists around the plastic pillaging planet. The vinyl junkies had resurrected a monster, but, like addicts do, they ravenously sucked it dry and moved on looking for the next fix to feed their habit. Luckily for some, Ackermann and Thusek were also creatures of habit. And it wouldn't take a genius to figure out that they were holding the next dose, but by the turn of the millennium the mad scientists had been given a 35-year head start on the pop-archeologists and their mythical sequel was literally light-years ahead of their previous draconian installment. Encouragingly the unclosed cabinet left a shiny white clue in the form of its closing track 'Frankenstein Meets Alpha 7.' Perhaps space was the place. Always read the label. The Ackermann and Thusek duo were far from dynamic. They were undercover agents hiding behind user-friendly mock-rock monikers and, like most BMusicians, the only way to sniff them out would be to read the small print. But when an unidentified record on an unknown label with a title like Science Fiction Dance Party crops up in the 'Eins Deutschmark' crates it's not exactly rocket science -- although the track titles might suggest otherwise. 'The End Of A Robot,' 'Monster On Saturn 1,' 'Galactic Adventures Of The Outer Space Fleet ,' 'The Whistling Astronauts,' 'Death Rays Out Of The Universe.' The telltale signs are all there and if that vintage psycoplasmodic coloured vinyl doesn't clench the deal then what will. When rumours about a space-age follow-up to Dracula's Music Cabinet hit the straÄYe Deutsche-o-phile diggers fingers started twitching nervously."

Various Artists - Earle Brown Contemporary Sound Series Vol. 1 3CD (Wergo) [WER6928] $44.50
Featuring The Manhattan Percussion Ensemble, John Cage (conductor), Paul Price (conductor), Christoph Caskel (percussion), David Tudor (piano), Aloys Kontarsky (piano), Bernhard Kontarsky (celesta), MEV (Ala Bryant, Alvin Curran, Frederic Rzewski, Richard Teitelbaum & Ivan Vandor), AMM (Cornelius Cardew, Lou Gare, Christopher Hobbs, Eddie Prevost & Keith Rowe). "Wergo's Earle Brown Contemporary Sound Series focuses on the extraordinary world of contemporary and avant-garde music that flourished in Europe, the United States, Latin America and Japan in the 1960s and early 1970s. Recorded between 1960 and 1973, the original eighteen LPs that comprise this series have been highly sought after in the secondary market since 1978 when they were discontinued. These rare and historically important recordings of international avant-garde music have been carefully digitized and remastered by the Earle Brown Music Foundation. Brown was a major force in the world of contemporary classical music. He studied mathematics and engineering at Norteastern University, and attended the Schillinger House School of Music for techniques of composition and orchestration. His work with new notations, scoring methods and performance attitudes led to his development of graphic, improvisational and 'open-form' scores. Wergo will release six 3CD sets of these recordings between now and 2011. Each set will contain three CDs in jewel boxes including the original liner notes and cover art."

Various Artists - D-Funk - Funk, Disco & Boogie Grooves From Germany 1972-2002 CD (Marina) [MA074CD] $16.00
D-Funk presents 30 years of Teutonic funk power -- 18 block-rocking and distinctively eclectic funk, disco & boogie nuggets from Germany that range from sweaty JB-styled grooves, cooking fusion gems, up-tight post-punk funk, to slick urban disco anthems. It may be an unknown and as-yet unexplored territory, but some Krauts certainly knew how to cook up a serious groove. Just take The Poets Of Rhythm and The Whitefield Brothers -- two groups from Munich that immersed themselves so deep into the rare grooves of James Brown's People label catalog that it became part of their DNA. Hamburg's Lee Armstrong Express and Augsburg's Twen are no less impressive, with stabbing horns, hard-poppin' drums and grinding organs. The earliest entry on the compilation hails from 1972 by über-drummer Charly Antolini and it's a funky break-beat feast. The same goes for "Kirschblüte" by Veronika Fischer & Band -- originally only released as a 7" flip-side in 1975, sounding like The Commodores lost in Leipzig. Berlin's "No New York"-styled collective Zatopek (feat. Sven Regener of Element Of Crime fame) were driven by a great horn section and explore the same territory as Pigbag and James White & The Contortions. Family 5's (featuring ex-Fehlfarben punk demi-god Peter Hein on vocals) rare debut "Bring Deinen Körper Auf Die Party" (1981) is a perfect piece of post-punk funk, and Fehlfarben's "14 Tage" ("14 Days") from 1982 includes a killer bass line worthy of Bernard Edwards. The discofied side of funk is represented by Ganymed and Discotizer & Supermax. Disco overlord Giorgio Moroder makes an appearance with his one-off project Stolen Property -- with a slow burnin', super-kool cover of "Low Rider" by War. Even Boney M. got funky once. The sophisticated fusion of James Last's "Bolero '75" could give Deodato a serious run for his money. Andy Minkacz & Orchestra score with a sexy Philly-Sound groover, and Herbert Rehbein is the man behind Su Kramer's totally unique space boogie "Magic Dance" (1978). Cheeseslider and Montana Chromeboy present pure uncut funk nuggets full of Larry Graham-styled slap bass and mad vocals. Get down, get involved, get d-funked. Compiled by Stefan Krassel and accompanied by detailed track notes and reproductions of all the original record sleeves.

Various Artists - Ghana Special: Modern Highlife, Afro-Sounds & Ghanaian Blues 2CD (Soundway) [SNDW016CD] $21.25
...1968-81. Ghana in the 1970s: highlife, rock, and soul collide and merge with tradition and culture. New styles meet old styles. A new generation renews old musical customs. New fashions meet old fashions, creating new fusions. Soundway present 33 original and previously un-reissued tracks from the time: obscure A-sides, B-sides and album cuts that have resisted a second look until now. Compiler and label boss Miles Cleret travelled many times to Ghana to track down these long-lost and unavailable recordings. Ghana Special focuses on a variety of the vast number of diverse musical styles made in Ghana at that time -- a selection of 33 tracks hand-picked from a multitude uncovered over nearly 10 years of on-going research: driving around the cities of Ghana, banging on musician's doors, visiting distributors, DJs, collectors, manufacturers and shop owners. The roots of this project go back to a pair of albums named Ghana Soundz (Volumes 1 and 2), which focused solely on the "funkier" side of the same period. Alongside new artists and groups, some other works of the many musicians and producers Cleret met while researching those records are also included here. Many of these tracks have remained only in people's memories or in collections of LPs that sit unplayed: until now, of course. This 2CD hardback package comes with a full-color 44-page booklet, including many original photographs, LP scans and a full history of the period -- painstakingly pieced together over many years.

Various Artists - Tumbélé! Biguine, Afro & Latin Sounds CD (Soundway) [SNDW017CD] $14.75
...From The French Caribbean, 1963-74. Often overlooked in the English-speaking Caribbean, the scattering drums and soaring clarinets of the biguine ruled the airwaves and dancefloors of Martinique and Guadeloupe in the 1960s. This album showcases the vibrancy of the scene on the islands in the '60s and '70s -- a scene that would go on to develop the all-conquering sound of zouk in the '80s. Uptown bands like Ensemble La Perfecta and Les Loups Noirs combine heavy rhythms and psychedelic effects in an inimitable style -- check out the crazed "Jet Biguine" for a better idea! The deep and introspective sounds of Monsieur Dolor and Guadeloupean hero Robert Loison show the deep African roots of the music -- songs born out of the plantations, with an insistent rhythm and mournful vocals that are unique to these islands. Overlooked outside of Paris, Montreal and the French Caribbean for many years, this collection redresses the balance by presenting the vital sounds of Martinique and Guadeloupe -- missing pieces of the musical jigsaw puzzle of the Caribbean. CD includes a 24-page booklet with detailed historical notes and rare photos.

Various Artists - Panama!3 - Calypso Panameño, Guajira Jazz CD (Soundway) [SNDW018CD] $14.75
...& Cumbia Típica On The Isthmus 1960-75. After two very successful and well-received previous volumes of tropical rarities from Panama, co-compilers Roberto Gyemant and Miles Cleret are joined by Will "Quantic" Holland for the final piece of this unique series. Volume 3 showcases more of the unique tropical music created in Panama in the fertile decades of the 1960s and 1970s. Panama is the thin, tropical bridge that connects North and South America, and is home to three million culturally-diverse people; its music is a soulful blend of Latin American, Caribbean, European and indigenous forms. From bilingual calypsos to guajira jazz, from tropical guarachas to cumbia tamboreras, Panamanian musicians fearlessly combined and brilliantly executed styles that reflected their multicultural environment during a turbulent time in the young country's history. This collection presents more of the golden age of Panamanian music and the music of the combos nacionales on rare recordings that have never been released outside the isthmus until now.

Wilson McKinley - Message Brought To Us - Anthology CD (Tanignak Productions) [WM-7079-1] $11.00
AVAILABLE AGAIN!!! The only legitimate WILSON MCKINLEY release, now available to all! With beginnings firmly in the secular realm and a strong following in the Northwest, the band signed to Alshire Records (home of 101 Strings) and recorded one LP (Honky Tonk Women) under the label's "acid-rock" moniker, THE CALIFORNIA POPPY PICKERS. With the proceeds from the album sessions the band self-released a 7-inch EP in 1970 and soon met street minister CARL PARKS, giving up the rock'n'roll lifestyle and effectively ending the first incarnation of the group. The minister encouraged the remaining bandmembers to pick up their instruments again to create some music for a street meeting, and the first "Jesus Rock" group was born. This twenty-one-track compilation includes material from all three of their original LP's (On Stage, Spirit Of Elijah and Heaven's Gonna Be A Blast), their first cassette (Country In The Sky) and one unreleased track from 1973. With the exception of the On Stage material, all tracks are sourced from the original tape reels, which were subject to excessive reverb or careless mastering at the time of original LP manufacture.

Various Artists - Light: On The South Side 2xLP (Numero Group) [NUMERO033LP] $57.75
"Between 1975-1977 Chicago's South Side night clubs were a little lighter. Not just because of a lanky white guy skulking about, but rather because of the camera and strobe light he carried. Michael Abramson hit Perv's House, Pepper's Hideout, The High Chaparral, The Patio Lounge, and The Showcase Lounge, not to capture the artists on stage, instead popping off a half dozen rolls every night on the crowd. Light: On The South Side gathers for the first time over 100 of these images, as Numero shines its own strobe on yet another dark corner of the past. The 132-page hard back book features photos, an ephemera section, and an essay by Nick Hornby. Housed in a gorgeous slipcase with the 12X12 book is Pepper's Jukebox , a seventeen track compilation of the kind of funky Chicago blues heard from the stage and the Wurlitizer. The deluxe 2LP set is packaged in a sharp gatefold jacket with two inner sleeves crammed to the gills with label scans and stories. All in all, it's the classiest Numero record ever made, spotted easily from across the room with it's near 2" spine."

Acid King - Busse Woods Picture Disc PICTURE DISC LP (Kreation) [KR26PD] $14.75
NOW AVAILABLE ON PICTURE DISC VINYL!!! Originally released on CD by Man's Ruin, ACID KING's Busse Woods album is reborn on wax. A further chapter of America's Satanic Youth uncoils slowly and doomfully along the backwoods of your tortured mind. Gigantic waves of black sound wash away your hopes and cast you upon despair's lonely beach. Motionless, you lie limp, awaiting the Devil's touch.

Adny - Dreaming Remixes 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO001EP] $11.50
Originally released in 2000, repressed. Remixes by Dahlbäck and Hulkkonen. "This has also been re-released in Turbo's Limited Edition Classic Re-Issues series with exactly the same cat#, but with a different cover as shown (which is white with red, blue and silver stripes)."

Alan Fitzpatrick - Weed Killer/Science 12 inch (Figure) [FIGURE021EP] $11.50
"The next installment of body-massaging future techno is ready and waiting as we proudly announce Figure 21 by Alan Fitzpatrick. UK based Fitzpatrick, whose productions for his own 8 Sided Dice label, Drumcode and more have sealed his reputation for tough, funky and high-tech dancefloor workouts has created an EP that oozes quality and production finesse. Alan throws us a treat with this 12'', kicking off the show with 'Weed Killer' -- a rolling, irresistibly bass-heavy nod to the tougher end of the dub-techno spectrum. Shuffling, shaking percussion and dynamic, modulating hook lines fly in and out of this spacy groover with total funk, attitude and sound precision. Flip the slab over and you'll find the equally heavy 'Science' ready to push things further. Intense bass pressure and a proto-Chicago jack combine in this stylish warehouse jam. Sharp, glistening highs sit atop a treasure-chest of chunky percussion, complex funky micro-hooks and that ever-present Fitzpatrick dancefloor attitude!"

Andre Crom & Luca Doobie - Got You There 12 inch (Off) [OFF009EP] $11.50
"After delivering two much loved and played EPs for OFF Recordings, labelmanager Andre Crom and Milan's Luca Doobie return with a stunning EP. Got You There is just what the description 'peaktime-anthem' has been invented for: a highly catchy vocal hook on top of a rock-solid kick and 90ies-organ-bassline groove, supplemented by rave-chord-stabs and driving Chicago-ish grooves on top. And a break that you should need a weapons license for. 'Snake Seven' is a more subtle and moody affair with a dark groove, freaky vocals and a jazzy bassline and theme loop. The vinyl is completed by a remix of French underground legend Chris Carrier who delivers a great toolish and extremely groovy interpretation of 'Snake Seven.' Stripped down, all about a strong bassline groove and with dry instrument and vocal stabs from the original, this is a timeless tool perfect for house and techno sets alike."

Anton Pieete & Paul Ritch - Feeders 12 inch (100% Pure) [PURE053EP] $11.50
This next strike on 100% Pure Records features the very first collaboration between Anton "Golden Boy" Pieete and Paul "Dancefloor Destroyer" Ritch. The Feeders EP is an absolute techno groove monster that will heat you up when things get cold. "The Opera" is deep and straightforward, with just enough vocals in the break -- a dancefloor smasher. "Matador" says it all with shakin', groovy tech sounds.

Arrestar - Thoughts & Emotions 12 inch (Token) [TOKEN012EP] $12.00
"Arrestar, hailing from Brussels, is the second Belgian artist releasing on Token. He sent me this killer IDM/techno track some time ago and it was immediately a favourite of mine. I fell in love with it the moment I heard it. In the end, it just needed a release. I'm not the only supporter of this track: Inigo Kennedy, Oscar Mulero & Grovskopa love it too, so they decided to contribute with each another interpretation of the track, which in the end results in a diverse package."

Atlas Sound - Logos LP (Kranky) [KRANK138LP] $12.00
"The prolific Bradford Cox delivers yet again, with his second solo album under the Atlas Sound moniker. Eleven delectable pop delights served up to tantalize and tickle your taste buds. This is the second solo album from Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox following his debut Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel from early 2008."

Band, The - Stage Fright LP (Capitol) [VIR88649LP] $25.75
180 gram audiophile pressing. Special paper and band photo.

Banjo or Freakout - Upside Down 7 inch (Half Machine) [HMR013] $9.00
"Despite having a curiously obtuse stage name, BANJO OR FREAKOUT (aka ALESSIO NATALIZIA) has accrued quite the following thanks to a killer shoegaze-style rework of Burial's 'Archangel'. I say off-kilter because rather than cough out yet another lazy edit, he 'covers' the track in his very personal style, taking it from the murky world of South London into the breezy, shoegazing Thames Valley. This love of all things Slowdive translates perfectly to 'Upside Down' and across only five tracks Natalizia deconstructs the sound, building it up again in his uniquely lo-fi style. Somehow the record doesn't totally slip into the nu-gaze mould of acts such as M83 or Ulrich Schnauss-Banjo Or Freakout is just that little bit more deep and untidy, and altogether more engaging for it. Lovely-a big recommendation."-Boomkat. UK import.

Beach Boys, The - Summer Days (and Summer Nights) LP (Capitol) [VIR88650LP] $19.75
180 gram audiophile pressing.

Beach Boys, The - Today! LP (Capitol) [VIR88651LP] $19.75
180 gram audiophile pressing.

Ben Sims - Smoke Machine 12 inch (Theory) [THEORY033EP] $12.00
"The first solo release from Ben Sims on Theory for a very long time and it's a move away from his usual sample driven DJ tools. What we have here is 3 straight up techno tracks, tough machine funk for the anti boring minimal massive. Already getting hammered by James Ruskin, Paul Mac, DJ Bone and of course, Mr Sims. This is one of many new projects lined up for release in 2009 from Ben, so expect more theory action very soon."

Blood Stereo - Your Snakelike King LP (Pan) [PAN005LP] $25.75
"Brand new release from Brighton mongs Blood Stereo, duo of Dylan Nyoukis and Karen Constance. Your Snake Like King picks up where 2008's The Magnetic Headache left off, a shape shifting and strange mix of tape collage, free vocals and electro-acoustic mischief. Midnight to 3am recordings fueled by grape and smoke conjour up a blurred narrative, the meaning of which is never quite clear, like weird off camera sounds in some tripped out movie. 'Anal fins tucked in tight behind them, Blood Stereo look like a pair of ill-kempt roosters, fighting over a doughnut. The guy rooster is jibbering in some unknown tongue, turning his face inside out, while shoving the microphone slowly through a hole in his cheek. The girl rooster appears to be pecking at him, either that or she's picking at various trash they have strewn around the stage. Every time she ducks her head there is the sound of a jet passing overhead. But when you look up at the sky there is no sign of a comtrail. After a while you think you are starting to get a handle on what they are doing, but the guy falls down and starts doing a spazz dance so utterly convincing you begin to worry about him. Then the girls starts screaming and it seems as though something is really profoundly wrong. And it is. But it's not like they're in any kind of trouble. They're just wrong, y'know? So savagely wrong from every angle that it's really tough to imagine there 's anything you could do to really help them. As if they'd even want in. In their masks or out, they sow confusion like wheat.' -- Byron Coley. The LP is mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, in a limited edition of 330 hand-numbered copies, pressed on 140g vinyl and comes in a poly-lined inner sleeve. It is packaged in a pro-press jacket which itself is housed in a two-tone silk screened pvc sleeve with interweaving geometric designs."

Boyd Rice Experience, The - Hatesville! (picture disc) LP (Caciocavallo) [10545] $19.25
RELEASE DATE: 09-14-2009
"Hatesville!" is a collection of songs by The Boyd Rice Experience, The Partridge in the Pear Tree, Adam Parfrey and Jim Goad. It was orignally released in 1995, but quickly went out of print, and has — until today — commanded absurd prices from collectors. This new edition has been completely remastered and features three new songs. Best of all, it's available for the first time on vinyl. Famed hot rod artist Coop, whose black & white artwork appeared on the 1995 version, added color to the artwork for the new edition. No expense has been spared for this reissue. The CD is presented in sturdy six-panel folder, the black vinyl LP comes in an sturdy old-school "tip-on" cover, and the picture disc comes in a heavy PVC sleeve. The CD is unlimited and we plan to keep it in print forever, but the black vinyl LP is limited to 1000 copies and the picture disc is limited to 500. Boyd Rice's biography is extensive and includes numerous albums, books and film appearances. His musical career began in the 1970s when he performed and recorded as NON. In the mid 1980s he became involved in the Church of Satan, and later launched a Social Darwinist think tank called The Abraxis Foundation. He has performed and recorded with Douglas Pearce of Death In June, Michael Moynihan of Blood Axis, and famed industrial percussionist Z'ev. His newest book No is a collection of essays. He presently lives in his underground bunker in Denver, Colorado. Adam Parfrey is best known as the founder of Feral House, a small but influential book publisher, with titles like Apocalypse Culture, Lords of Chaos, and Jim Goad's Giant Book of Sex. He's always had an interest in music, and released two albums and a number of singles in the 1990s, including S.W.A.T - Deep Inside A Cop's Mind: The Soundtrack for the Next Police State and A Sordid Evening of Sonic Sorrows. He lives in Port Townsend, Washington. The Partridge in the Pear Tree, previously known as Shaun Partridge, co-founded the Partridge Family Temple in Denver in 1988 with a friend. "The Partridge Family Temple is a religion based on fun, truth, and reality. We believe in freedom, fun, and enjoying life every day, because we all know we're going to die. Life is scary and miserable and we say, 'Come On, Get Happy!'" He now lives in Portland, Oregon. Jim Goad became famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view) for his magazine Answer Me!, which he published from 1991 to 1994. He contributed to the S.W.A.T recordings, and released the album Truck Drivin' Psycho in 1996. He has authored several books, including The Redneck Manifesto and Shit Magnet: One Man's Miraculous Ability to Absorb the World's Guilt. He runs jimgoad.net, and lives in Atlanta, Georgia. AVAILABLE AGAIN!!! The first full-length and first "widely" available recording from Ohio/Kentucky damaged music specialists BURNING STAR CORE. Burnski - Triangular Hour 12 inch (Morris Audio) [MORRIS066EP] $11.50
"Burnski is an artist with an undeniable natural talent and drive! He has achieved not only top class releases on labels like Pokerflat, Dessous, 2020 Vision or Infant, he's also resident DJ at the legendary Leeds club institution Back2Basics. Triangular Hour is already Burnski's 4th release on Morris Audio! And he keeps the Burnski stylee: we dare to say it's tech house! 'Can't get out' is the more spooky jackin tech stuff and very close to his successful last EP Schizophrenia. 'Triangular Hour' is more deeper tech house, but still guarantees club action! The flipside offers another goodie: 'Freaky' (from his Schizophrenia EP, Morris Audio 63) gets a remix treatment from Pokerflat buddie Martin Landsky, who delivers the perfect summer tune! The 66 is defo sexy! Thanks! Supported by: Anja Schneider, Slam, Moodymanc, Danny Tanaglia, Afrilounge, Davide Squillace, Adultnapper, Par Grindvik."

Caretaker, The - Persistent Repetition Of Phrases LP (Hate) [HAFTW003LP] $17.25
Having already been chosen as one of The Wire magazine's top 10 albums of 2008, as well as featuring on numerous "end-of-year" charts, The Caretaker's highly acclaimed Persistent Repetition Of Phrases is finally made available on a limited vinyl pressing, the inaugural release on UK-based James Kirby's very own History Always Favours The Winners label. James Kirby's work as The Caretaker has always dealt with the suggestion of haunted memory and the obscuring of temporal motion, and this album makes that more explicit than ever, with titles that reference amnesia, Alzheimer's, past-life regression, and other such memory misfires and short circuits. Musically, this album might be compared to Philip Jeck's manipulated vinyl tracts, featuring similarly oceanic swells of crackle and dust, with faded pianos or big band sounds wafting wraith-like across the mix. After conjuring the sinister atmospherics of The Shining with his debut album Selected Memories From The Haunted Ballroom (V/Vm Test Records 1999), The Caretaker has been chasing this idea of sound leaving its indelible mark on space and time, so consequently, these creepy, semi-dissolved musical passages sound no more tangible than shadows, and the album for the most part comes across as some sort of séance held via wax cylinder. Arguably the most accomplished and rewarding Caretaker album to date, Persistent Repetition Of Phrases is an album you'll want to snap up fast -- this vinyl edition has been made in a strictly limited run of 500 copies only for the world. Dark ambient ghost-jazz for night-blooming flowers and the shadows of phantoms.

Cathode Terror Secretion - Spectre Of Historys Design LP (RRRR) [RRRCTS] $16.50
"Their debut LPs, featuring members of Yellow Tears (Hospital Productions) -- leaders in the New American School Of Power Electronics. 500 copies each, printed covers, inserts." "Somewhat akin to an ethereally brutal noise version of '90s grind psychoschizomaniac groups such as Agoraphobic Nosebleed and early Locust (like, only their 1st LP, when the Cattle Decapitation drummer was still in the band). Not to say that this is gimmicky or anything." -- Heathen Harvest

Chimpo - Lock Off VIP 12 inch (Contagious) [CON024EP] $10.25
"Chimpo has been DJing since he was a young chimp. He was a bad boy jungle DJ at 13 even though he was on a pair of soundlab belt drives that were falling apart. Since he was the age of 16, he's been knocking out killer hip hop, jungle, garage, grime and soul. He has recently been working closely with Zed Bias and MRK1 and has forthcoming track on both of their labels. This is the Vip Version Skream has been playing -- proper bouncer bucket load of weightyyyy!"

Christopher Kah - Plusplusone 12 inch (White Noise) [WHITE007EP] $12.00
"White Noise returns with a new killer after the summerbreak. This time Dave Clarke selected tracks by Christopher Kah (Planet Rouge). Dave Clarke about Chistopher Kah: 'Christopher Kah has an uncanny knack of presenting left field music in a way that doesn't threaten the listener but embraces them, his production techniques certainly have his own trademark sound which is undoubtably why DJ Hell got him to do a remix of 'Disaster.'"

Chromeo - Tenderoni Remixes 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO040EP] $11.50
2007 release, repressed: "I hate f***ing Press Releases. Why? Because they are filled with lies, lies and bullshit and lies. So here at Turbo I have pioneered a new style... and I like to call it the Truth. With that in mind I would like to tell you something about the record you now hold in your hand... and let's see if you can even HANDLE the motherfuckin truth!!!!! Here goes nothing: I am really busy and I hate writing this shit. I have my OWN shit to do, like a new mixCD or remixes or cataloging my books or starting my new album.....why do I waste this time on all these other fools on my stupid label....what the fuck am I doing in my basement pouring out my guts, all my creative juices for this, for what??? Oh man... ok, Chromeo??? Sure here goes.... Blah blah blah.....funk.... Blah blah... sex... blah blah jew and arab pals... minneapolis, yada yada, crazy hahahahahahha, clever, clever."

Cinderella Ltd. - Ephemeris 12 inch (Arpiar) [ARPIAR006EP] $13.50
No description available at this time.

Click Box - Wake Up Call 12 inch (Minus) [MINUS077EP] $10.75
On their second M_nus release of 2009, São Paulo DJs/producers Marco AS and Pedro Turra pick up where they left off with the roving bass and pumping rhythm section of "Wake Up Call." "Nebula" extends the party vibe with a funk-infused hi-hat pattern while a moody, throbbing bass pulse stalks the undergrowth. The tight interplay between the drum parts and bass patterns is a constant theme throughout these tracks, but it's the musical sensibility that really captures the imagination.

Cobra Killer - Uppers And Downers LP (Monika) [MONIKA066LP] $14.00

Coma - Crystal 12 inch (Kompakt) [KOM199EP] $11.50
Coma are Marius Bubat and Georg Conrad, who combine pop and rave, techno and rock in a very unique, subtle and elegant way. Coma is new rave and old-school techno, '80s pop and 2K-modernity in a deep hug. Their debut 12" (FIRM 030EP) is in heavy rotation by Tobias Thomas, Sascha Funke and Superpitcher. Live on stage, they use a laptop, guitar, synthesizer and microphone, breaking the barriers between club culture and live concerts, techno and pop.

Dahlback & Dahlback - Sweden 10 - Finland 0 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO039EP] $11.50
2007 release, repressed. "I don't have much to say about the Dahlbacks. Jesper is one of my best friends, even though he is a serious pain in the ass. John made 6 records in the time it took you to read this sentence....and he just turned 11. Every once in a while they take about 40minutes out of their hectic schedule (John stops making records...to make a record, while Jesper takes a break from the grueling demands of being a condo association manager) to make a record for Turbo. In all honesty i think they give me the tracks they forgot about.....cuz you know if they really LOVED them they would keep them for their own lame labels."

Daniel Haaksman - Gostoso Remix 12 inch (Man Recordings) [MAN042EP] $13.25
Man Recordings boss Daniel Haaksman returns with various remixes of his acclaimed Gostoso EP release. Edu K delivers a minimal techno-meets-Forró interpretation of "Kid Conga," Chicago's ghetto don Rob Threezy brings the big bass drums in his DJ Rob 3 remix, and João Brasil twists "Kid Conga" into a Tecno Brega track. The B-side opens with a straight four-to-the-floor version of "Deixa Tocar" by Consistent, and Schlachthofbronx reworked "Jesus" in a rough and rugged interpretation -- call it Bavarian Soca Dancehall.

Das synthetische Mischgewebe - Frequency Conquistadors LP (Pan) [PAN006LP] $25.75
"Words are more often then not the point of departure for many works of Das Synthetische Mischegewebe. The track titles here stem from 'El Mundo Alucinante' de Reinaldo Arenas, which itself is inspired by François-René de Chateaubriand's 'Mémoires d'outre-tombe'. It is about time rather than history and about being in history. Having lost the war of time, the only thing that remains to do is being, and here we go, 'being infiniment exigent' in its means of expression. DSM began in Berlin armed with a visual education from the early '80s. They quickly became part of the international industrial cassette scene. Composing for light installations with open-reel machines, cassette recorders, microphone and guitar fuzz boxes with both loud, quiet, occasionally full blast and frequently sneaking in little sounds, all alternating within a few seconds, create an electroacoustic anti-music. With unusual concerts in the underground network as well as in high art institutions and museums (such as Centre Pompidou) and later on with performances for mixed media installation, exhibitions and conferences on cognitive science and neurologic research related topics, the group toured with changing casts since the early '80s, and participated in international festivals throughout Europe and the US. Since 1982 they continue to produce vinyls, CDs and tapes on many international labels: Discos Esplendor Geometrico, RRRecords, Hypnagogia, Vinyl-on-Demand, Auf Abwegen, Harsh Reality Music, Equation Records, Das Cassetten Combinat and many others. Live and recording collaborations with musicians such as: The New Blockaders, Ralf Wehowsky, Frans de Waard, Ios Smolders, Zeitkratzer Ensemble, Artificial Memory Trace, ERG, MSBR, Toy Bizarre, Roel Meelkop and others.

David Labeij - Beige 12 inch (Remote Area) [REMOTE020EP] $11.50
After David Labeij's My 20 Models (REMOTE 014EP), he is back and striking again on Remote Area, with the ultimate techno release. These are amazing dancefloor bombs that you won't wanna sit still for. "Aha" is funky and groovy -- perfect for festival season. "Nekst" also has some groovy beats, but with some deep elements that will make you shake. Supported by 2000 And One, Shinedoe, Lauhaus and Bart Skils.

Deep'a & Biri - Rodeo 12 inch (Karton Schallplatten) [KARTON005EP] $11.50
"Four guys from good old Italy bring the groove back with their brand new EP on Karton Schallplatten! They seriously reminded us of Carl Craig and it's Paperclip People stuff, but transferred into the millennium and with a modern touch of today's sound! Featherlight rhythms, crunchy organs and hands in the air atmospheres delivered by the four guys Federico Pedron, Stefano Zanin, Manuel Menegon, Daniel Menegon, who form the Recordshopcollective!"

Deetron - Zircon/Orange 12 inch (Music Man) [MM148EP] $11.50
Finally, another Deetron record on Music Man -- and it was worth the wait. If you think there's a lack of good straightforward techno builders these days, this is one that you MUST check out, NOW. "Zircon" is a mean track and it's no wonder everyone's running up to the booth to check out what this is when you're playing it! "Orange" is a fantastic house track with a great party feel. A sure hit.

Demdike Stare - Symbiosis - Part 1 12 inch (Demdike Stare) [DDS001EP] $13.25
This is part 1 in a 12" vinyl series of tracks off of Demdike Stare's Symbiosis. Miles Whittaker and Sean Canty take elements of Turkish, Indian, Iranian, African and West Indian film soundtracks alongside Norwegian drone records, classic house templates, punctured dub, modified techno and the Arctic noise to create dense analog experiments that mesmerizingly defy categorization. One track featuring The Boats' Danny Norbury.

Destroyer - Bay Of Pigs 12 inch (Merge) [MRG326] $9.00
At 13:37, "Bay of Pigs" is the longest of DESTROYER songs. It is also Destroyer's first foray into the ambient disco market. The song was recorded throughout the winter of 2009 with longtime Destroyer collaborators/members JOHN COLLINS and DAVID CARSWELL at their JCDC Studio in downtown Vancouver. "Bay of Pigs" is an account of the 1961 American invasion of Cuba, often referred to as The Bay Of Pigs. The music for "Ravers" was played entirely on analogue synthesizer, and recorded, by TED BOIS (Destroyer, Pink Mountaintops) in April 2009. It explores some of the more meditative realms of 20th Century classical composition. The song itself is a casual rumination on parties, political parties, madness and suffering (for one's art).

Dialing In - Islamic Bomb LP (Music Fellowship) [MF041] $17.50
REITA PIECUCH transforms field recordings from her extensive travels through south Asia into dense, static-barbed walls of drone through a variety of arcane and archaic methods of sound transformation. Instead of using a sampler, Reita's collection of odd and classic vinyl is mangled by pieces of scotch tape across the grooves, allowing her to capture samples of everything from Soviet 78s and Bollywood to classic rock and folk onto cassettes. When moving to cassette, the four track becomes her instrument, allowing her to transform the sound by speed and pitch and through layering with other sounds. The backdrop for all this tape f***upery is the inspiration of her travels through Asia. By mixing audible snapshots of her journeys with piano, harmonium, and her collection of samples, Piecuch creates an amazingly textured and unique sound. The new album, The Islamic Bomb, uses recordings from her recent trip to Pakistan. Calls to prayer from the Islamic muezzin become movements so Antarctic they slow the heart. Disintegrated loops of fast-talking boys on the street become jittery Ata Kak rhythms, masterfully meshed with slow drifts of muffled piano. The Islamic Bomb is DIALING IN's third album following previous releases on Pseudo Arcana (Cows in Lye, 2006) and Celebrate Psi Phenomenon (Ketalysergicmetha Mother, 2005). It is undoubtedly her most restrained, meditative, and mature work to date. Jade green vinyl limited to 500 copies.

Diminished Men - Shadow Instrumentals LP (Abduction) [ABD044LP] $14.75
Seattle's Diminished Men present a full-length record for the Abduction label. This LP is a limited edition of 500 copies and comes pressed on 180 gram vinyl. "If current instrumental music was always as majestic and compelling as this, I'd hang up my retro-Italian soundtrack collector's boots for good. From the explosive drums rolls on the opening track, the only cover on the record, "L'Appel du Vere," from Roman Polanski's The Tenant (music by Philippe Sarde), to the darkly exotic finale, "A Housewife's Dram," this album is a superbly crafted mosaic of whip-cracking vengeance, speak-easy hallucinations and haunted geography. Besides the Italian-Western overtones, the carnival-esque freakshow backdrops, Korshid-Egyptian guitar passages, and flipped-out electronic space-psych, are perhaps the best surf-inspired tracks I've heard in years. It's spine-chilling how producer Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Earth, Eyvind Kang, Sun City Girls, Secret Chiefs 3, Six Organs Of Admittance, Wayne Horvitz, Matt Chamberlain, Grails, Wolves In The Throne Room, etc.) managed to make this record the ultimate mid-'60s surf-vampire-Western revival soundtrack. Elements of Joe Meek's best Moontrekkers productions cross with a dash of Badalamenti murder blues-drama, setting the stage for Steve Schmitt's cobra-twilight guitar work and the outlaw drums of Dave Abramson to leave their indelible stains across this 41-minute epic journey." --Alan Bishop (Sun City Girls)

Distinction - Fly Eyes 12 inch (Argon) [ARG026EP] $10.25
"Distinction makes his debut on Argon Records with two incredible pieces of dubstep music. 'Fly Eyes' is an absolute smasher, with a bassline that will make your nose itch, and a snare that will make your eyes blink. 'Brok Owt' is the the B side -- the name describes exactly what you'll do when you hear the tune! An essential release!"

Doobie Brothers, The - Long Train Runnin' (Dennis Perez Remix) 12 inch (Slow To Speak) [W218EP] $10.25
Comes in a Warner Brothers Records promo sleeve. Tracklist: A1. Long Train Runnin' (Dennis Perez Classic Remix); B1. Long Train Runnin' (Dee's Churchapella); B2. Long Train Runnin' (Dee's F Train Beats). "Dennis Perez remixes, as played heavily by Joe Claussell. The all time classic rock/disco vocal 'Long Train Runnin'' gets the new & most respectful remix treatment from Brooklyn's own Dennis Perez. Taking the original masters of The Doobie Brothers' cathartic masterpiece and remixing it with the classic NYC wit of original disco ingenuity, Perez transforms & elevates the original magic, reformulating & refreshing it's most powerful base elements to create something entirely new -- and yet still definitively classic in it's own contemporary right. With brand new arrangement, direction & instrumentation -- most notably the stunning organ solo that really punctuates the piece right in the midst of classic's triumphant crescendo -- add a new force & vitality to this already timeless production. With a high quality pressing & replica artwork to boot this 12" reinvigorates our historical gaze on the classic disco genre, reminding us that the notorious 'edit' is not the only means by which we can appreciate & re-contextualize the past."

Downpilot - They Kind Of Shine LP (Tapete) [TR166LP] $16.00

Drivetrain - Tragedy Park 12 inch (Yore Records) [YORE002LTD] $11.50
Detroit's Derrick Thompson aka Drivetrain is a DJ and producer who heads up Soiree Records International. Harkening the rich production values of '70s Philly soul, "The Rain" features brisk rhythms with triangle, electric piano, alto sax, flute, and acoustic bass. "Angel (Serenity Mix)" opens with a sinuous house thrust and a tight, jacking groove, synthesizer flourishes, and a smooth vocal refrain. "Tragedy Park" is akin to a stomping techno raver with a smidgen of acid -- definitely a floor-shaking bomb.

Elon - Fxck Cuba 12 inch (Dirter Promotions) [DU051EP] $11.50
Elon returns to Dumb-Unit with two sublime works. Treading lightly on current trends but with full individual strength, he jacks the notion of what modern techno DJs should deliver. "Fxck Cuba" is a layered and playful excursion into what the post-minimal freestyle years have allowed us to achieve. "Right On Babe" has a dark and nasty feel that will grind hips, and Ahmet Sisman remixes the title track in a direct style that is loads of fun.

EOD - Untitled 12 inch (Kvist) [KVIST003EP] $13.50
"'I make tracks and that's about it' is what Stian Gjevik, AKA EOD said when asked for a biography. And he does make tracks. The 6 analog/acid/electro pieces on offer here show a balance between technical know how (including knowing when to stop -- there is no messy overproduction here) and acute instinct for detail, brought together by a real enjoyment of the craft of tune-creation. Operating out of Trondheim, Norway, EOD's music has already caught the attention of heavy-hitters, and his first EP, an obscure private-press 12" entitled EAP Tracks sold out extremely quickly. There is footage of Aphex Twin playing his music in a DJ set. Revered acid label 030303 will be releasing a record/album of his later in 2009. Kvist is extremely proud to be releasing this record." -- John Tamm-Buckle 2009

Eternal Tapestry - Invisible Landscape LP (Not Not Fun) [NNF165] $14.75
A brand new full-length from Portland, Oregon based psych trio ETERNAL TAPESTRY. Edition of 500, let's do this thing.

Eternal Tapestry - The Invisible Landscape LP (Not Not Fun) [NNF165LP] $15.25
"Brand new full-length by this Portland, OR psych trio. Edition of 500."

Extrawelt - Deine Beine RMXS 12 inch (Traum) [TRAUM115EP] $11.50
Two tracks off of Extrawelt's Deine Beine EP are remixed by Dominik Eulberg, Max Cooper, and Mig Dfoe. Eulberg's remix evokes Aphex Twin noise cascades and breakbeats with a psychedelic aura. Cooper uses his own voice on his lush remix, counteracted by a heavy bass line, dub elements and pop. Mexican artist Mig Dfoe's remix is a melancholic epic with sad organ sounds coming in waves, creating a world full of sound and color.

Finally Punk - Casual Goths LP+CD (Army of Bad Luck) [AOBL015V] $15.00
The girls of FINALLY PUNK united over a love of flannel and punk rock disco. Finally Punk's first full-length LP compiles an impressive twenty-six tracks from three previously released (but now out-of-print) 7-inches, plus two unreleased tracks on purple vinyl. The LP includes an enhanced CD with videos shot and edited by the band of their adventures on tour.

Fluxion - Inductance 12 inch (Echocord) [ECHO039EP] $11.50
Greek artist Fluxion's (Konstantinos Soublis) first 12" release on Echocord is an escalating reaction between sound and flowing particles -- a dance infusion of deep dub. "Inductance" has a strong dubby platform with shifting elements, leaving the listener wanting more. "Elation" is a more atmospheric track creating strong emotions in a subtle way -- a climax of sounds and harmonics that carries the listener to a higher emotional state. The rhythmic dub base alongside repetitive melodic parts completes the picture.

Fugazi - In On The Killtaker LP (Dischord) [DIS070] $12.75
AVAILABLE AGAIN!!! Another FUGAZI classic, now remastered and reissued with a free download.

Gas - Compressed Gas 7 inch (Siltbreeze) [SB125] $7.50
Comprised of various members from Christchurch's obscure fringe (MCGOOHANS, SHALLOWS and SCORCHED EARTH POLICY), GAS harkens forth with an effusive hybrid of Nuggets-styled garage psych fused into the miasmic, post industrial rust clamor of Hearthan-era Pere Ubu. These recording date from '96 to '98 and the six-track EP clocks in at 14 minutes flat. Edition of 300, no repress.

Gatekeeper - Hades 12 inch (Immerse Records) [IME012EP] $10.25
"Immerse cuts a unique groove these days, releasing original, leftfield music, often dark and uplifting simultaneously. This new Gatekeeper plate falls on the darker side of the fence, but that's no bad thing. 'Hades' is a moody skulker -- triangles, pads and trickling sound FX giving way to a thumping bass'n'drum workout, dotted with delayed beeps and cutup shouted warnings. Flipside, the Keeper's original Skull Disco collab 'Tomb' gets a rework, the insistent midrange line slotted into a rock-hard selection of militant breaks, subterranean bass and dystopian mechanical noise."

Giant - Drumstick 12 inch (Hench) [HENCH010EP] $10.25
"Marking the tenth release on Hench, enter production trio, Giant -- composed of Enei, Ekta and Nersa -- these boys have been killing it on the dubstep front from the heart of St Petersburg for the last couple of years now. Here they bring us a bit of their dark Russian vibes in 'Drumstick' and 'Swoosh'. A - 'Drumstick': Squeaking synths and vocodered SFX are the order of the day in 'Drumstick,' and the tune drops into a wobbly b-line number with plenty of grimy beats and retro sounding sampling. Giant keep it stripped back for the rest of the 'Drumstick,' with great effect. With heavy subs and intensely dark bass, expect to be blown away by the sheer intensity of this 'Drumstick.' AA - 'Swoosh' If that's not enough for you, then 'Swoosh' over to the flip for more heavy beats. An alarm siren wails for the first ten seconds, grabbing your attention, before the main beat and wobby b-line kick in and the layers of sound build up. Experimental, with jingling sounds, percussion and vocodered clips, the tune swooshes in and out, focusing on different sounds at different times. Top notch -- this is going be beyond big, it's going to be Giant!"

Goldfish und der Dulz - Anarchie Unter Palmen 12 inch (Hi Freaks) [HIFREAKS021EP] $11.50
"'Are you revolutionary enough to find happiness at the most unexpected places?' Goldfish & der Dulz are back with three special tracks from straight to queer. Enjoy it!"

Grackle - Desert Acid 12 inch (Supersoul Recordings) [SSREC012EP] $11.50
William Burnett (aka Grackle) delivers an EP that evokes images of mad peyote sessions held amidst dry and sandy landscapes. The original "Desert Acid" features a wobbly, acidic synth-line, fuzzy guitar riffs, and an almost tribal disco-beat. Musiccargo rework it into a Krautdisco gem that floats on a loopy vibraphone drone, and Sombrero Galaxy (aka DJ Tako Reyenga and Jonny Nash) take it into cosmic realms ala Vangelis. "We Are It" is a slow 808 jam with druggy vocals and guitars.

Graves At Sea - Documents Of Grief PICTURE DISC LP (Kreation) [KR12RPPD] $14.75
NOW AVAILABLE ON PICTURE DISC VINYL!!! The Documents of Grief album from doom heavyweights GRAVES AT SEA. Originally self-released by the band in 2003, a CD reissue is also available via 20 Buck Spin. An essential document of Doom's present, past and future.

Gregor Thresher - The Life Wire Pt. 1 12 inch (Break New Soil) [BNS004EP] $12.00
"With his debut longplayer A Thousand Nights from 2007 Gregor Tresher undoubtedly upgraded himself into the Champions League of European techno artists, with the title song being the year's best selling techno song on Beatport. And also the following releases on labels like Josh Wink's Ovum or Dubfire's Sci +Tec made it into the playlists of almost every big name DJ around the world. Now Gregor has taken the next step and presents a foretaste of his upcoming second album. The title track once more is 'another paradigm of Gregor's talent of creating epic techno tracks with enigmatic harmonies to make them true anthems of the night' (Groove Magazine, #117). Gregor is working with classic sounding filtered synthesizer-lines, and when the bassline finally kicks in, we can already see everyone's hands in the air. The second track 'Escape To Amsterdam' is a techno track par excellence, made by a DJ for the DJs, going down a storm everywhere Gregor is playing it out. It's no wonder that Dutch Techno-Don Dylan Hermelijn aka 2000 And One picked it for remixing already. And finally, on the B-Side, we have the first remix for the Life Wire Project, and with Petar Dundov it is one of the first artists on Gregor's wishlist of remixers for the album. With his recent releases the Croatian has impressively shown his talent of creating the most amazing melodies and once more, his remix leaves nothing to be desired: His 'Petar Dundov Variation' is an incredibly beautiful piece of music, that will ignite open air floors over the summer, and we are extremely happy with this first interpretation of Gregor's track."

Gui Boratto - I Feel Love 12 inch (Defrag Sound Processing) [DFRG027EP] $10.25
"Here we go with the new defrag from our Brazilian friend Gui Boratto. 'I Feel Love' is one of those very special records that goes far and further from the boring trends of the moment. As we like to say it's a 'timeless techno' tune, an open air magik track with vibrant pads full of synthetic feelings and processed voice that reminds the best moments of the disco from the '80s or, if you prefer, as our friends at Kompakt, you can define it: elegant techno."

Halflings, The - Self Esteem LP (RRR) [RRR001/2LP] $16.50
"Their debut LPs, featuring members of Yellow Tears (Hospital Productions) -- leaders in the New American School Of Power Electronics. 500 copies each, printed covers, inserts."

Hatzler - Disquos 12 inch (Dieb Audio) [DIEBAUDIO010EP] $12.00
"We are proud to present Mr. Mathias Hatting aka Hatzler (as he's more commonly known) to our loyal and devoted Dieb-ophiles as well as the world at large. Dropping a massive double a-sided EP containing 'Disquos' and 'HNO,' this talented and inventive producer has been making a solid name for himself with his fresh, glitchy and minimal brand of techno infusing heavily effected electronic hooks with undeniably funky rhythm sections! First up on remix duties, Gary beck tackles 'Disquos' and delivers a dark and pounding re-interpretation. Fans of his work on labels such as Minus and Soma will already be familiar with his particular style of production-solid, precise and guaranteed to work magic on a variety of dancefloors! Completing off the package with style and panache, the very much in form Lemos adds a quirky yet housey splash from his own production palette and reworks 'HNO' into a chunky and gritty tech house shuffle. Here, he uses one of the original's main hooks as a focal point and constructs a simple, yet characteristically groovy drum arrangement dominated by swinging shakers and carefully placed percussive elements. Another standout addition to our humble little catalogue, we are delighted to add such a forward thinking and polished bow to our sonic arsenal."

Hieroglyphic Being - Dope Jams 3 Year Anniversary 12 inch (Dope Jams) [DJ808EP] $16.50
"More untried sounds from esteemed producer Hieroglyphic Being, who offers two of his most gap-bridging electronic compositions to date on this exclusive 12" release commemorating Dope Jams' 3rd Anniversary, strictly limited to100 hand-numbered copies. While much of dance music today becomes increasingly enslaved to the conservative measure based repetition of normative dance music, 'The Future Shock' & 'The Universe We Reside in {Anti-Matter}' add to Hieroglyphic Being's reputation as a producer completely outside of 4-4 conventionality, synthesizing a totally new attitude to house & techno's experimental potentials. Harboring a punk rock conceptual freedom & utter disregard for the norm, these tracks prove once again the unparalleled abilities of Jamal Moss' creative mind, his refusal to operate on the same plane as most of his peers and his ultimate commitment to the uncultivated future of his -- and our -- beloved medium. With the continued efforts of this & similar depth, electronic music continues to be pushed forward beyond the pale of functional dance orthodoxy, and towards the truly artistic vitality it has and should naturally enjoy."

Hugg & Pepp - Sweet Rosie 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO068EP] $12.00
"'Sweet Rosie' is one of the most original sounding vocal house tracks in ages. Tiga championed the first version we were sent, but he'd always mix out before the goofy guitar part, so Turbo commissioned a special edit that keeps its cool all the way to the finish line... that's why it's called the 'Turbo edit.' The Dahlbäcks threw in a terrific disco dub, one thing led to another, and we figured we ought to go the distance and do a full remix package. Veteran superproducer and perennial chart topper Sir Jori Hulkkonen does a Joriffic job, the dub being, incredibly, his 200th ever remix -- another milestone for J-Z. Also on remix duty AND also at work on an album for Turbo is Glasgow's young prodigy Sei A. Continuing on a brilliant run starting with his album 'Editing Shadows', this is an absolutely incredible deep dub, keeps things interesting for all you vocal hating bitches."

I.D. & Skinnz - The Blues 12 inch (Earwax) [EAR011EP] $10.25
"Earwax steps a little deeper for their next outing on vinyl with 2 killer tracks from new names on the dubstep scene -- production duo Skinnz & I.D. 'The Blues' is a deep and tribal affair laden with warm muffled pads and gut wrenching soundsystem subs. The heavily swung conga workout that forms a backbone to the rhythm is both hypnotic and energizing and quickly conjures images of a late night tribal gathering around a voodoo bonfire! As the track works into a breakdown it resurfaces, touched with a gentle melodic layer akin to Mala circa 2005. Quality dance music for your mind and feet! Flip for 'Issues' as the duo show in one release the breadth of their skills with this soulful roller. Combining a driving 2step beat with playful congas, a diving bassline and muted housey stabs -- this rhythm swings from dark smokey corners into skanking, grooving party vibes."

Ilios - Kenrimono LP (Pan) [PAN004LP] $25.75
"Kenrimono is a type of pachinko machine for advanced players which gives certain privileges during the course of a high-risk game. This LP is entirely based on field recordings and manipulations made from sounds in pachinko parlors in Kansai area, Japan in 2007. A very intense and meditative atmosphere to be played at maximum volume. Active since the early '90s in sound art and image, ILIOS has been exploring the extremes of sound and image derived phenomena. Through constant change in his sound palette touching and surpassing the limits of the sound spectrum he definitely advocates for an anti-career. By 2009 ILIOS has performed more than 170 times in various venues and festivals in Asia, Europe, South and North America, pushing the space and body resistances to a hard test pursuing a state of alert for the human senses. He has done studio and live collaborations with the likes of: Francisco Lopez, Jason Kahn, Keiichiro Shibuya, Mattin, Michael Gendreau, Norbert Möslang, Coti K, Xabier Erkizia (Billy Bao), Julien Ottavi, Bernd Schurer, Ralph Steinbruechel, Takehiro Nishide, Tzesne, Thurston Moore amongst many others. Since 1997 he runs Antifrost, a publishing label for sound media with more than 40 works published to date.

Jackson Conti - Sujinho 2xLP (Kindred Spirits) [KS024] $28.25
JACKSON CONTI are MADLIB and MAMAO of AZYMUTH. Madlib loves Brazilian music. This album is filled with songs from the greats of Brazilian music of the mid sixties and early seventies. Luiz Eca, Chico Buarque, Joao Donato, Baden and Vinicius, Marcos Valle, Dom Um Romao, Airto even George Duke gets a look in.

Jakes/Chimpo - Justice/Pump Action 12 inch (Sin City) [SINS002EP] $10.25
"Jakes of Hench fame debuts on the Croydon Sin City label with some heavyweight business in the form of 'Justice.' Disgusting bass, sinister vibes as cold as ice and pounding beats combine for a monster & has been rinsed by Hatcha. Meanwhile, Chimpo takes the vibe up a notch with dancefloor hit 'Pump Action' and completes a fine 2nd release. Don't sleep on this 12"!"

Jerome Sydenham - Jango 02 12 inch (Ibadan Records) [IRC098EP] $12.75
"Another raw tech-house experience from Jerome Sydenham's Jango Series, (Ibadan). 'Jango 02' In the second installment of the Jango series Sydenham is on a quest to supply certain missing elements of House while forging new musical paths into the future. Jango 2 exemplifies this truth. On this occasion we are taken on a journey that includes fierce beats, funky bass lines and Detroit-esque strings. 'Brooklyn Rock': Simple percussive grooves, rolling bass, and a killer hypnotic vocal hook make this dub version a true Brooklyn deep house gem! 'Footsteps of Phire (Jerome Sydenham's Jango Dub)': The almost unapproachable classic, installed into the Ibadan archives by legendary Baltimore Producer DJ Oji, has been remixed up by Jerome Sydenham. He utilizes a lot of the original rhythmic influences while in the bottom range he gives it a true new phat tech-house sensibility. Pumping stuff!"

Jesu - Opiate Sun 12 inch (Aural Exploits) [AUR3002LP] $14.75
"Opiate Sun is the new EP by former Napalm Death and Godflesh member Justin Broadrick's noisy and melodic shoegaze project Jesu. A one time only limited edition of 2000 copies, broken down across five different colors (300 each) and black vinyl (500 copies), housed in a Stoughton old style tip-on jacket. Mastered by John Golden at Golden Mastering at 45 RPM for maximum fidelity."

Jori Hulkkonen - Katajanukke 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO036EP] $11.50
2007 release, repressed. "When you think of Finland, you think of Lordy, Nokia, Zyntherius, pale men with whiskers, Matti Nykänen coke-orgies and a stupid language.....but underneath that depressing grey façade lies a rich musical culture....a culture personified by the living legend of electronic composition Jori Hulkkonen."

Jori Hulkkonen - Rave 2.0 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO047EP] $11.50
2007 release, repressed. "I just made the mistake of re-reading the last press sheet I wrote for the original Fenno Baron EP... man, was that good (the release sheet, not the record), so good in fact that for an instant I considered hanging up my pen and retiring from this crazy, glamorous world of indie-label literary administration. But then I thought... sure, they all know Jori's story, they all know our shared history, everyone knows he's a retarded genius who lives in Turku..... but do they know the history of THESE tracks? no..... YOU don't. Until now! Read on."

Kan Mikami - Nishiogi No Tsuki LP (Siwa) [SIWA902LP] $22.75
"New solo studio recording by Japan's reigning surrealist blues poet. Forty plus minutes of all new material recorded in France during Mikami's 2008 European tour. Numbered heavy weight vinyl only edition of 333 in handpulled screen printed sleeves. Includes lyrics in Japanese and English (title track alone is a trip through painted omelets and the moon to a rusty French bicycle). While Mikami is building up a massive body of work through his long running association with PSF records this is the first of his studio dates to be committed to vinyl in decades. Singular and essential."

Lawrence - Sleep And Suffer 12 inch (Mule Electronic) [MULE062EP] $11.50
This is the second single cut from Lawrence's album Until Then, Goodbye. "In Your Eyes" is the most dance-oriented track on the album -- atmospheric, trance-y, deep house-style. "Sleep And Suffer" is abstract, minimal house and "Don't Follow Me" is an emotional ambient track.

Les Petits Pilous/Dilemn - Baguette 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO046EP] $11.50
2007 release. "OK, how about this: every night when I feel my DJ set running out of steam, after I play my own hits... and just when I start to feel 'oh f***... it's all over for me, I'm gonna have to go back to running a drum n' bass record shop'...THAT'S when I drop Les Petits Pilous and boom, all of a sudden it's back to 'wow, this is easy......look they are all screaming my name and begging to touch my hand, its pathetic........look that girl is getting trampled... maybe I should smile."

Los Updates vs. Ricardo Villalobos - Bank Brotherhood 12 inch (Barraca Music) [BRM005EP] $11.50
"Los Updates vs Ricardo Villalobos collectors edition special vinyl with lyrics printed on the back. Includes a special Audio George mix. Supported by: Locodice, Luciano, Raresh, Zip, Matt Tolfrey, Seth Troxler, Bill Patrick."

Marcel Fengler - Twisted Bleach 12 inch (Ostgut Ton) [OSTGUT027EP] $11.50
This is Marcel Fengler's third 12" -- quality over quantity. The title track infuses a dirty Chicago sound with a house swing and a dry sense of humor. "Gridlock" has already earned the label "Berghain-approved" -- a heavy, atmospheric track that builds dense tension. "Chi Twine" experiments with broken rhythms and the artist's hip-hop past by fusing electro beats with techno qualities, making for an atmospheric, sci-fi track for the wee hours.

Marcin Czubala - Minskaya 12 inch (8BIT) [8BIT024EP] $12.25
After his Mezcallina EP on Mobilee Records, the Polish producer Marcin Czubala is ready to bring you into the right mood with his first EP on 8Bit Records. Nice vocals and a relaxed groove paired with warm chords make this a good tool for DJs. Early support from: Anja Schneider, Catz N' Dogz, Gorge, Nick Curly, and Gruber & Nürnberg.

Martin Eyerer & Benno Blome - Pianoroll Remixes 12 inch (Great Stuff Records) [GSR090EP] $11.50
"No doubt, the original track from Martin Eyerer & Benno Blome is definitely very different and special. And the idea of putting a jazzfunk organ on top of a driving groove received big respect from countless tastemakers. Like from Audiofly, who loved it so much, that they did an edit, which will now get its proper release. A brilliant work by simply adding some bits and pieces to the groove which now makes it 10 times more effective and easier to play. Additionally, wonderboy Ramon Tapia found a great way of fusing parts of the original organ with a big bassline and pushing percussions. Looking forward for Ramon's album in winter 2009."

Moby - I Love To Move In Here Rmxs 2 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO0542EP] $11.50
2008 release, repressed. "Turbo doesn't reel in that many 20-million selling artists, so perhaps a little explanation is in order. We're the coolest label on earth. You know it. We know it. More importantly, Moby knows it. Here's the deal: we give 'I Love to Move in Here' our deluxe remix treatment in exchange for the vinyl rights to a lost classic from 1995 called 'All That I Need is to be Loved (Dub)'. It's our favorite Moby track ever: tribal-acid perfection... just give it some space, close your eyes and get ready to play air-bongo... it's a psychedelic masterpiece."

Mollono.bass - Der Vagabund Und Die Liebe 12 inch (Ostwind Records) [OW024EP] $10.25
"We are very pleased that we are able to serve you a special delicacy just after the summer break. Our hobby cook Mollono.Bass has taken much time for his dish to obtain some of the best ingredients. His composition 'The Vagabond and the Love' is a heavenly seduction that is looking of his equal. Deep going sound that we not otherwise have come to expect from 'Molle.' But these two tracks, it was 'Love' or 'Vagabond,' have something very special. They are skillfully seasoned, but still leave much space for philosophizing and reflection. What a message wants Ronny Mollenhauer give you to take along? Culture, harmony, family, friends, peace, party, everything you could think it has inspired in this work. Both tracks taken and let life, everyone on his way. Heart and soul in love, temperament, ambition and perfection in the vagabond. Or is this record a declaration of love?"

Mum - Prophecies and Reversed Memories 10 inch (Morr Music) [MORR093EP] $12.25
In conjunction with múm's fifth album, Morr Music releases Prophecies and Reversed Memories: a 10" that contains one album track and two songs exclusive to this release. "Prophecies..." features a naive and overly-sweet chorus that gets more and more euphoric with its repetition, while "Amen Flutes" is an eccentric and strange pop song that builds up a glorious mess of sounds. To close, "Krippling" is a careful, fragile and heart-warming ballad that shows the band's adult side.

Naum Gabo - Black Lab 12 inch (Endless Flight) [EF016EP] $11.50
Naum Gabo is a project by Jonnie Wilkes (aka Optimo). This 12" embraces the slower side of dance music, and is reminiscent of German progressive rock or psychedelic music. The original version of "Black Lab" is a slow cosmic dancer, and the remix by Japanese nu-disco artist Discosession is deeper and even more gorgeous slow cosmic house. "Torus" has a pre-techno sound which derives itself from progressive rock.

Nhar - Derceto 12 inch (Soniculture) [SONIC013EP] $11.50
Soniculture presents French techno artist Bernard Siefert aka Nhar, known for his releases on Mobilee, Meerestief, Plak and Modelisme. His sound is hypnotic, with finely-tuned melodies and vocals. "Derceto" is a modern techno track with an old school touch -- the bass line is strong and the vocals are dirty. Thinkfreak's powerful remix takes the energy to higher levels. "Owls Are Not What They Seem" is hypnotic with exquisite production details, and Dalessandro & Expander's remix is sexy and groovy.

Noah D - Hypnotic Elements EP 2x12 inch (Subway) [SUBWAY011EP] $19.75
"Noah D steps up for his return on Subway and what a return it is. Hypnotic Elements EP is the title of his 5 track double pack and it's the one everybody has been waiting for! The A side is the one and only 'Seeeriousss' that's being cained by almost every bigshot in the game. No cheesy business but straight up ghetto sounds are filling the speakers up and destroying it bit by bit by bit! Turn it over for another big bad tune called 'Twister.' Like a hurricane, this riddim explodes into a whirlwind of bass and sub and sucks in anything that comes across it. Again, not for the fainted hearted cause Noah D is ON this! Disc 2 brings back one of Subway's biggest bangers in a Straight Jacket VIP Style. Noah D VIP's this tremendous tune and it gets the extra flow and stretch it deserves. Once this one drops you know there isnt no turning back anymore. Turn it over for 2 different takes on Noah D's sound. First one its 'Got U Now,' a dubbed out stomper which sees Noah flexing over other sounds as he's best known for! The second tune holds 'Vibrationz' and there is nothing more to say about this tune as it does exactly what it says. SUB + SUB + SUB. Dont let any beers stand in front of a speaker when this one plays cause you'll see yourself running toward the bar to get a new one before you know it!"

Noah D & Einstein - Killing Time 12 inch (Basshead) [BASSHEAD003EP] $10.25
"Hailing from Portland, Oregon Noah D has already established his name as a drum & bass producer with numerous releases on labels such as Renegade Recordings and Dieselboy's Human Imprint. More recently he has been making noise in the dubstep scene since dropping Examination of Time with Babylon System on Argon in 2008. Since then his profile and workflow have increased and he has numerous releases on labels such as Subway, Earwax, + Thought and many more. After sending us the original instrumental of 'Killing Time,' Noah explained he was interested in working with dancehall artists in Jamaica and Einstein's name was mentioned. We were into the idea so Einstein's manager was approached and he agreed to work with us on the project. After long negotiations Einstein got into the studio in Kingston, Jamacia and laid down the vocals then sent them back to Noah who added the finishing touches creating a dancefloor monster fusing Einstein's aggressive vocals and Noah's crisp production and deep bass. Once that was done we called in one of the drum and bass scenes most popular producers, Break, to perform remix duties. He did 'Killing Time' justice and his heavyweight remix has been a favourite of DJs such as Andy C, Dj Marky and Friction. Our aim at Basshead Music is to amalgamate styles and cultures into musical forms."

Noob & Brodinski - Peanuts Club 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO069EP] $12.00
"Two of Turbo's rising stars come together to make one of the biggest records of the year. 'Peanuts Club' has been arguably the hottest track of the summer for heavyweight DJs Erol Alkan, Tiga, and A-Trak. It's instantly catchy and massively effective, and we've seen it bring the best out of the crowd night after night, but you probably already know all about it. The real coup here is that 'Cajou Club' is another absolute bomb, maybe even better than 'Peanuts Club,' and more disturbing evidence that France has produced yet another two major-league players in dance music. Noob's really been hitting his stride lately, following on terrific remixes for Brodinski and D.I.M. and Tai's Lyposuct, his productions getting exponentially bigger with each release. As for Brodi, anyone that's seen him play knows he has all the makings of a star, and if he can keep putting out records this good, the sky's the limit! Wanting to go beyond double-megahit and attempt quad-bomb status, we commissioned a terrific remix from Sound Pellegrino's Renaissance Man. Noob & Brodi are in love with it, plus they're the only Finns out there to have NOT produced a record for Turbo, so it was a perfect fit. The 'Ph 0' remix on the vinyl is, incredibly, an original take on acid, it's loopy and weird, but works like magic."

October - Elephants 12 inch (Immerse Records) [IME013EP] $10.25
"Absolute madness from Immerse here, as October is released from his minimal techno day-centre to wreak havoc amongst the dubsteppers.'Elephants' is a pretty appropriate name for the A, as bongo loops and ominuous machine noises are summarily flattened by the phasing bass crunch and trumpeting midrange. Add a dash of running breakbeat to the mix and you have a strange yet effective dancefloor worrier. Flipside, 'Medium' opts for broken techno stylings, simmering pads and clattering percussion setting the scene for the tense main event."

Olafur Arnalds - Found Songs 10 inch (Erased Tapes) [ERATP017EP] $20.75
Limited edition 10" version. Includes a lush booklet including a free mp3 version of the entire EP & of the Erased Tapes Collection I compilation.

Peak - Darksuite 12 inch (Ornaments) [ORN008EP] $13.50
"New limited ornaments from PEAK including a remix by Soultourist (Drumpoet) & youANDme. Vinyl only!" Pressed on clear, black marbled vinyl.

Peter Kolovos - New Bodies LP (Thin Wrist) [TWH] $14.50
Three tracks of electric guitar improvisation by Open City guitarist feature successively recorded left-and right-channel guitars, in which the overdub responds asynchronous to the original. Open City's two-guitar and drums line-up regularly explored electroacoustic interplay, while New Bodies lets rip with all the skronk and blurt PETER KOLOVOS has been holding in for the last decade, in tiny, tightly gated segments. "Derek Bailey covering The Residents' Duck Stab."-Bruce Russell, The Wire

Pulse Emitter - Decaying Ships LP (Ultra Eczema) [UE065LP] $25.75
The road is long, sweaty and tense when your shoes are made of metal and you have to walk through a labyrinth with a magnetic floor to reach a brown sea full of hungry lobsters. The ship is waiting though, and the tension is building up heavily with every spin of this record, heavy meditative aircraft static blurr slowing down your usual codeine rhythm! Modular synth carpets at its nastiest! You'll be purring when you're on the actual boat. Thick like your mommy's wallet, yet sparse droning that'll get you more 'out there' than Bob Marley at his vaguest. 2 pieces pushing your brains to one side if the volume is right. Limited to 300 copies, comes in a neon green and black sleeve by Ulf F Faefs."

Quince - Wires 12 inch (Music Man) [MM147EP] $11.50
Quince is here with a follow-up to his previous Music Man outings, and it's a true dancefloor bomb! Concerning "Wires" -- think Carl Craig, a massive break, a roaring bass line, and hands in the air, and you're almost there. With "Sleepwalker," Quince lets us discover a new and different side of his sound. This is some hot shit.

Rainer Werner Bassfinder - Minimal Scarf F***ers Drown! 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO052EP] $11.50
2008 release. "A collaboration between Swedish producer Jesper Dahlback and The Dove, a figureless man than fun-writ-flesh, Rainer Werner Bassfinder succeeds in painting a lustrous sunstache on the ear's-lip of its listeners' hearts. Minimal Scarf F***ers Drown! embarks on a determined Bathhouse Crawl to Mouth America, finding inspiration in the wine-bearded bravado of dance pioneer Ultimate Fritz B. and the outrageous pizza-party pizzazz of current blog favorites like 128-Kippy P.S.""

Raz Mesinai's Badawi - Unit Of Resistance LP (Roir) [RUSLP8307LP] $12.00
"Raz Mesinai in his first outing using both of his monikers (Badawi & Raz Mesinai) has created a politically charged masterpiece. Unit of Resistance is already being heralded on the internet as one of the best RPM albums of 2007. With over 10K advance downloads on Myspace, this is sure to capture both the minds of today's youth and to stir the passions of the electronic intelligentsia. Unit Of Resistance is a collaboration between a handful of NYC musicians (laying down tracks of protest in 2004) and a selection of international DJ's and mixers interpreting these tracks two years later. The story of how this unusual collaboration came together is written about in the liner notes and made even more captivating by the accompanying music. After over a year of international touring Raz found a handful of DJ's/musicians to take the music created that one fateful day and to create their own unique tracks. Raz set up a sophisticated web of information via the internet to allow the mixers access to prima material and to do with it as they wished. Perhaps the end result is conspiratorial music raising a lone flag or perhaps it is many different flags being raised jointly. Power to the people. Remixes by: Raz Mesinai, Badawi, Kode 9, DJ Spooky, DJ Rupture, Marina Rosenfeld, Kreng, hhyScumClash, Filastine, Seth Ayyaz."

Schlachthofbronx - Belly Full Of Pills 12 inch (Disko B) [DB151EP] $11.50
Schlachthofbronx are a bunch of three guys (live at least a two tag team) based in Munich, Bavaria. The home of Schlachthofbronx is to be found in the heart of the city, between the goods yard, the slaughterhouse (hence the name Schlachthofbronx) where business takes place all night long. Here originates Munich Bass, a dirty hybrid of African Kuduro, South American Cumbia, Carribean Soca /Dancehall, Brazilian Baile Funk, Cape Verdian Funana, American Bootybass, UK Dubstep - and Bavarian Schranz! Schlachthofbronx is not just a tongue twister to the makers of anglo hipster blogs. The fact that three Krauts shamelessly mix African, Latin & Carribean Beats with every single form of Bass music has caused confusion ? long before a single offical track has been released! Not enough, Schlachthofbronx go totally insane and hybridise even that weird stuff again with Balkan Brass and cross-grained traditional Bavarian "Volksmusik". A sick mixture nobody else has ever tried before. No surprise that in the meantime countless blogs, fader mag and even people like Sinden, DJ Rupture, Haaksman, Buraka Som Sistema and Diplo have become Schlachthofbronx fans: "I WISH THAT I KNEW HOW TO SPELL SCHLACHTHOFBRONX. CAUSE THIS ALBUM IS BANGIN. MUNICH STAND UP! " diplo (major lazer / mad decent)

Sei A - Chinese Whispers 12 inch (International Deejay Gigolo) [GIGOLO256EP] $11.50
Gigolo presents a bright new star in electronic music, Andy Graham aka Sei A, from Glasgow. Musical, uncompromising and utterly menacing, but with a maturity akin to artists such as Bola or even Kieran Hebden, his debut Editing Shadows in 2008 won industry-wide acclaim. Artists such as DJ Hell, John Digweed, Laurent Garnier and Tiga all predicted his success and pundits include IDJ ("Album of the Month"), DJ, Mixmag, Resident Advisor, and numerous others.

Seuil Matthias Tanzmann Martinez - Moon Harbour Joints Vol. 1 12 inch (Moon Harbour) [MHR045EP] $12.25
"In the last few months two faces have caused a massive stir at Moon Harbour HQ, the frenchman Seuil and Martinez from Copenhagen. And to take that momentum a step further, after their recent sets alongside Matthias Tanzmann at the monthly Moon Harbour Flights at the Distillery in Leipzig, Tanzmann invited them back to his nearby studio for what ended up being a very fruitful couple of recording sessions. And the fruits of these collaborations are here for you all as two very special tracks on the split EP "Moon Harbour Joints Vol. 1", each track combining the artists' unique personal styles while at the same time giving us more than the sum of the parts. The A-side is Martinez and Matthias Tanzmann rolling out a compactly arranged track, named "Ohh I don't know", which is characterised by percussive and impulsive beats, a rythmic chord and engaging vocal samples, all adding to make a unique funk -- direct, authentic and deep. Tanzmann and Seuil's "My 808 gently weeps" also builds on and emphasises several layered vocal samples. The result this time is a deeper and more laid back affair, which will undoubtedly become the perfect soundtrack to many an after-party that has stretched long into the shining new day."

Toecutter - Best Party Ever 12 inch (Bang Gang 12 Inches) [BANG021EP] $11.50
"Toecutter has been sitting on this one since 1984 when he recorded the hook onto a cassette and then spent 25 years deliberating on its merits. In the last 2 year, it has been remixed by such dance music notables as Shazam, Jono Ma, Captain Ahab, Electromeca and DJ Rainbow Ejaculation. Basically it's been the 'Cops Are Coming' anthem of Sydney's square party underground for ever but the Bang Gang 12s boys have now brought it into THE LIGHT! So enjoy the Rough Trade, acid come-down, Roule inspired, world domination, 8 bit gabber, grind-house festival of noise provided by these outstanding artists."

Tolga Fidan - So Long Paris 12 inch (Vakant Ltd) [VALT002EP] $11.50
Urban nomad Tolga Fidan presents the second edition in Vakant's limited series VALT with a much sought-after track which has been around for a while. Tom Dazing & Gols - No Hay Banda 12 inch (Dreielf) [DREIELF003EP] $12.00
"Dreielf Recordings is back with 2 fresh guys from Belgium, Tom Dazing & Gols. Tom is well known for his releases on Trapez, Toys for boys and Heimatmelodie. He's working now with his friend Gols on new stuff, which is more housy and experimental. We are proud to sign one of these tracks for our label. The track 'No Hay Banda' starts very deep and grows to an end time sound which comes to a high point with a male vocal tone that will get in your mind. On the flipside Mr Tony Rohr delivered us a remix in his freaky trademark style with massive bass and some crazy sounds which will blow your heads off."

Tomas Barfod - Basement Music 12 inch (Turbo Recordings) [TURBO033EP] $11.50
2006 release, repressed. "For most of my life, the only two Danes I knew were: GREAT Danes, those big dogs, and that big Danish goalkeeper. Then I started DJing all over and meeting lots of Danes. One of them was Tomas Barfod, a genius, who makes so much good music I have trouble keeping track. He's involved in Whomadewho, he is Tomboy, and he does more solo stuff as well. When I got a demo CD I freaked out and tried to sign all the tracks and this first 12inch on Turbo is the fruit of my labour (or I guess HIS labour).. 4 tracks of magic, groovy house music. Moody, building trance-house. Chopped up funk-disco."

Tortoise - Beacons Of Ancestorship Remixes 12 inch (Thrill Jockey) [THR01234EP] $11.25
"To follow up the release of their first new studio album in five years, Tortoise returns with a two song remix 12" of songs from Beacons of Ancestorship. In the late '90s Tortoise released a series of highly influential remix 12"s with remixers as diverse as Stereolab, Jim O'Rourke, Oval, Autechre, Unkle and Derrick Carter. It is no surprise that their return to the remix 12" format features other luminaries of the scene. Side A features none other than Eye from Boredoms doing a remix of the album's opening track 'High Class Slim Came Floatin' In.' Side AA features the legendary dub/version master Mark Ernestus of Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound doing a version of the track 'Gigantes.' Pressed in an edition of 1,500 copies for the world and cut at 45rpm."

Truth - Revelation 12 inch (Aquatic Lab) [LAB007EP] $10.25
"The next Aquatic Lab release touches down in the form of 'Revelation' and 'Lost At Sea,' backing up last release with two more fresh productions from New Zealand's Truth. 'Revelation' is a complex arrangement of layered percussion and broad soundscaping techniques. This track has to be heard to be believed, perfectly proportioned production coupled with a devastating bassline making it primed for the draw back. On the flip, 'Lost At Sea' arrives at another crossing point between dubstep experimentalism by expertly fusing dub chords with deep kickstep syncopations. Riding over ridiculous amounts of rolling sub weight, dislocated vocal effects create a dusty jazz style that's finding favour with a forward thinking audience. Massive plate."

Turboweekend - Something Or Nothing 12 inch (Kraken Recordings) [KRKN009EP] $10.25
"The eagerly awaited remix of Turboweekend's 'Something Or Nothing' has been receiving massive support from Skream & Joker. Electro funk, soothing pop vocals, all blended together with half step rhythms and 2000F's laid-back, soulful approach make this a surefire winner for the ladies this summer. Turn over to check JSL's 2009 mix of 'Raw Love,' the original first appeared on Kraken exactly 2 years ago under JSl's alias RUF. The unmistakable Justin Timberlake intro builds us up and up into an almighty wallop of brutal bass, like a breeze-block in the head."

Unknown - Hate 005 12 inch (Hate) [HATE005EP] $11.50
Two dark and deadly UK hardcore tracks. The A-side is an archival track, the B-side is a more recent arrangement of original loops made in 1994. 400 copies for the world.

Various Artists - Ghana Special: Modern Highlife, Afro-Sounds & Ghanaian Blues LP Box (Soundway) [SNDW016LP] $45.75

Witch - Introduction LP (Shadoks Music) [SHAD118LP] $41.25
"LP 500 numbered/glossy heavy sleeve/180 gram pressing. Another out-of-nowhere African '70s rock discovery in the Blo mold. Completely unknown band from Zambia, privately pressed on a small local label, this five-piece electric band plays a strong electric African underground style. Tons of wah wah-fuzz guitar in every track, African style beats and vocals and all original songs. After the successful release of the other Witch album Lazy Bones, here is Introduction. Crazy & wild Fuzz guitars all over, African beats and chanting, as good as it gets. Incredible cool and stoned album from the southern African country. Again we need to say: if you're feeling depressed, low, disturbed, out-of-sorts, sad, frustrated or widely demented, then folks, we suggest you seek out a quiet place, indulge in some soothing meditation and cut away that headache by listening to this inspirational album."

Beat Boys - Beat Boys LP (Groovie) [GROO019LP] $27.00
"Along with Os Mutantes, the Beat Boys represented the most radical element in Brazilian rock: their name, clothes, hair -- and intense fuzz guitar raves -- were all fierce indicators of a rebel spirit, and this in a dangerous time for such self- expression. Here is the simple truth: The Beat Boys were at the very epicenter of the cultural revolution that convulsed Brazil during the late 1960s, that movement of rupture, that bringing together of electricity and avant-garde erudition that has come to be known as 'Tropicália.' They backed Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil for their defining moments as artists -- both live, and in the studio on tracks which became the opening Tropicalist salvo (a rare EP). So, what were this group of Argentine rock musicians doing in the forefront of all things outrageous in Brazil? More to the point, why is it that very few people, even among the Brazilian music cognoscenti, have ever heard of them? One explanation must be the fact that the band were essentially outsiders to the Brazilian music scene. As unlikely as it was for them to penetrate the inner circles of Brazilian elite musicians (it was unlikely), it was even more unlikely that they would remain there once their closest friends, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, were exiled from Brazil. This disc includes the Beat Boys entire output under their own name: their sole album -- an exercise in what one might call 'controlled Tropicália,' laden with torrid psychedelic moments (released by RCA Victor in 1968), as well as a rare singles track from the same year. A 20-page booklet includes lyrics, and an exploration of the Beat Boys' fascinating story." "Caetano called the Beat Boys, an Argentinean group settled in São Paulo who had been inspired by the Beatles, to accompany him in 'Alegria, Alegria.' That, in fact marked the beginning of the Tropicalista thing.'' -- Gilberto Gil

Black Crowes - Southern Harmony And Musical Companion LP (Plain) [PLAIN146] $16.00
The best record from the '90s best interpreters of classic rock sounds. With a Faces and Stones-like swagger, CHRIS ROBINSON and Co. blaze through nine originals and one cover on this, their second full length. Featuring the hits "Remedy" and "Thorn In My Pride," The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion debuted at #1 in the Billboard Top 200 back in 1992. Called the best Southern Rock record since Eat A Peach and Lynyrd Skynyrd's classic debut.

Blue Things, The - The Blue Things LP (Rca) [LSP3603LP] $10.25
Exact repro reissue of this Kansas folk-rock group's 1966 LP. "The band started out releasing singles on independent (private) labels around 1964/65 with a strong Searchers/early Beatles flavor. Eventually they evolved into a tight folk-rock band that strongly recalled Help/Rubber Soul era Beatles. Val Stocklein wrote most of the compositions and his vocals are a world weary mixture of Gene Clark and Help-era John Lennon. They released their only self-titled album (commonly referred to as Listen & See) in 1966 and by this time, the band had already been experimenting with a psychedelic sound. The album is one of folk-rock's highlights. A single released from the album, Doll House/Man On The Street was spectacular. Both songs dealt with subjects uncommon for rock in that era (or any era), prostitution and social injustice. They are both characterized by glittering guitars, thoughtful lyrics, great harmonies, tambourine and a driving beat. There is no doubt that this was one of the defining moments of the folk-rock revolution. Other album tracks highlighted the group's influences. 'Honor The Hearse' was very Dylan-like but still effective while 'High Life,' 'I Must Be Doing Something Wrong,' 'It Ain't No Big Thing Babe' and 'Now's The Time' were also really strong, classy folk-rockers." -- The Rising Storm

Cha Cha Shaw - Kingdom Come LP (Kindred Spirits) [KSRE6] $22.25
A reissue of this lost 1979 gem from trumpeter, CHARLES SHAW (not related in anyway to Charles "Bobo" Shaw!). A super nice LP of some pretty wild styles, oddball grooves and fairly tripped out blowing. The untreated recording approach gives this a really obscure atmosphere. Never one to get pinned down to a single style, Charles has lent his bluesy burnished tone to spiritual jazz heavyweights like John Coltrane, Rashied Ali, and Elvin Jones, while also complimenting the funk soul brothers and sisters such as Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, The Ohio Players, and Rick James-just to hit the tip of the iceberg. While Cha Cha earnt his rep playing on classics such as Curtis Mayfield's "Superfly" and "Freddie's Dead" and The Tempations' "Papa Was A Rolling Stone," it was as a band leader that he was able to combine his free spiritual modes with a funky dip for your hip.

Congos - Congo Man (Carl Craig Edits) 12 inch (Honest Jon's) [HJR005] $12.00

Originally recorded in the late 1970's by LEE PERRY and featuring the unique falsetto vocals of CEDRIC MYTON backed by the deep, religious harmonies of the Congos. CARL CRAIG has spliced up different issues to make a more minimal mix, making more use of the ancient, drum machine sounds from the original. The A-side is a dub, the B-side features more of the vocals."

RELEASE DATE: 09-01-2009
***"A long time ago I used to hear spiritual singers singing beautiful songs and I wanted to be a singer too. I first started my musical career by singing in small local groups in my hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. In the year 1968, I came to Seattle, Washington and started singing with local groups but failed to find one stable enough to record, so I decided to cut an album by myself. The music was written and produced by myself who, except for the drum parts, done the entire record."-Famous L. Renfroe

Joke Lanz & Rudolf Eb.er - Akustische Aktion - Zurich 1991 LP (Pan) [PAN091LP] $47.00
"'A dinner is a dinner: Joke Lanz (Sudden Infant) & Rudolf Eb.er (Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock) bite, chew, smack, gulp and slurp in order to tickle your ears and your digestive system. Instead of decay and corruption, Lanz and Eb.er deliver a true and undiluted composition of this existential act of annihilation. We believe that, what we are doing, is right, because we are endeavouring to remain true. We want to create no false illusions, no sickly aesthetic or anything beautiful. We want to find things that we are not even looking for and we wish to unite them together to form a new reality.' -- Joke Lanz & Rudolf Eb.er, 1991. This historical document of an early Schimpfluch Gruppe performance is an absolute must for fans of actionistic noise and performance-art. The LP is mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, pressed on 140g vinyl and is packaged in a pro-press folded cover including all information and photos which itself is housed in a silk screened pvc sleeve with the whole original dokumentation of the performance. Mick Softley - Songs For Swingin' Survivors LP (Vinyl Lovers) [VL900779LP] $22.75
180 gram vinyl. "One of the most collectible British folk albums of the 1960s, Softley was a true folksinger in the vein of Bob Dylan, as he so deftly proved by his first album Songs For Swinging Survivors, released in 1965. A huge influence on the more famous Donovan, Softley's beautiful voice and guitar playing is captured here in all its glory. Impeccable versions of Billie Holiday's 'Strange Fruit' and Woody Guthrie's 'Plains Of The Buffalo' complete Softley's gem, an absolute must for folk aficionados and a nice surprise for the newcomers."

Mij - Yodeling Astrologer LP (Jackpot Records) [JPR7105LP] $18.00
"Yodeling Astrologer (aka: Color By The Number) could be considered an anomaly, a one-off or a miracle of circumstance in the history of psychedelic pop music. Mij, a.k.a. Jim Holmberg was discovered by ESP owners while playing in Washington Square Park in the summer of 1968. His style and persona mesmerized the label heads, and he explained to them a recent auto accident had fractured his skull but left him changed. He perceived sound, color and vision differently and he had funneled this new world of perception directly into his music. All this was enough to warrant getting Mij into the studio to lay down a record of his rambly, cosmic folk songs. The entire album was recorded in three hours, first-takes and impromptu production intact, then pressed up and introduced to the world shortly thereafter. To focus on the yodeling aspect of the Yodeling Astrologer would miss some of the depth of this album. Not just a hippie novelty act of the time, this is a truly thoughtful and somewhat frenzied document. Like Buffy St. Marie's Meditations, Linda Perhacs' Parallelograms or Cold Fact by Rodriguez, this is an album of sincere folk songs colored with subtle psychedelic touches. Uneasy reverberations and soft echoes glide over Holmberg's breezy songs, creating a consistent sonic environment as spontaneous as it is intriguing. Available on vinyl for the first time since an incredibly limited original pressing in 1969 on ESP Disk."

Nicolas Collins - Devil's Music 2xLP (Em Records) [EM1086LP] $23.75

Parasites of the Western World, The - The Parasites Of The Western World LP (Destijl) [DESTIJL072LP] $16.50
"The Parasites Of The Western World are a band from Portland OR who released their recorded debut in 1978. It's a fascinating spin, a galactic ramble across the otherworldly themes of alienation and paranoia, seemingly inspired by LSD and Philip Dick. Primarily the creation of Patrick Burke and Terry Censky, the Parasites were limitless with invention and completely DIY. This is a record that was recorded in an apartment, by a crew thoughtful enough to curtail its loud excursions for the daylight hours. Its rockist moves are surprisingly informed by the typical institutions of this era : Pink Floyd, the Beatles and Hawkwind and it's many electronic flourishes are an above ground sound that would presage the likes of Vertical Slit, F/I and Vertigo. The Parasites remain to be light years ahead of a time that has yet to come. Prime Element - Alborado LP (Kindred Spirits) [KSRE1] $22.25
The first in the Kindred Spirits revisions series, making long lost or forgotten albums available again. Composer/conductor CARLOS FRANZETTI's musical range seems to know no limits. Symphonic and chamber works, big band, Latin jazz and film scores have all been the focus of his vast talent. Music lovers are bound to know Franzetti's work since this artist has been a major force in the classical music field over the last 20 years. Born in Buenos Aires , Argentina , a young and ambitious Carlos Franzetti, moves to New York in 1974 to pursue a musical career. Originally released on Trova records, it only got an Argentinian release and was nearly forgotten until now.

Roger Morris - First Album LP (Vinyl Lovers) [VL900786LP] $22.75
180 gram vinyl. "Originally released in 1972 on Regal Zonophone, Morris' ultra rare First Album touches down in an important British roots revival scene that later gave rise to the pub rock genre of the late 70s. An interesting and gifted performer, Morris takes a trip into folk rock and brings with him some of the finest musicians of the period: Tommy Eyre, Johnny Almond, Chris Mercer, and John Weider. This reissue features 4 bonus tracks from the CD version that have never been previously released on LP and a printed inner sleeve with lyrics."

Roxy Music - Stranded LP (Capitol) [VIR436481LP] $17.50
Gatefold 180 gram vinyl reissue of the third Roxy Music album, originally released in 1973. Includes poster. Sheer brilliance across classic songs like "Street Life," "Mother Of Pearl" and the epic "A Song For Europe."

Shiva's Headband - Take Me To The Mountains LP (Capitol) [ST538LP] $10.25
Exact repro reissue of this Austin, TX band's 1969 debut LP. "Shiva's Headband landed a recording contract with Capitol Records on the strength of their popular live shows, only to decamp to San Francisco and see things go completely awry. Although the band hated San Francisco, their position as an influential member of the psychedelic fraternity dictated that they remain there, and until the release of Take Me ToThe Mountains, their first and only release for Capitol, this is exactly what they did. Perskin's powerful fiddle playing is prominent throughout the album. Critics agree that their first effort, often described as a well-balanced blend of country and psychedelia, augmented by Spencer's fabulous fiddle playing, should have been far more successful than it was. A fine album."

Soft Machine - Volume Two LP (Probe) [CPLP4505LP] $10.25
Exact repro reissue of Soft Machine's legendary second album, originally released in 1969, bridging the gap between avant-rock, psych, jazz and stream-of-consciousness weirdo absurdism. "The Soft Machine plays music for the mind. In its strictest sense, it may impose some cerebral responsibility on the listener, because you can't really hum along or have the tune pass through head as you walk in the streets. But the ultimate good feeling that the Machine generates will always remain with you, and the final emotional benefit is well worth the thinking toll."

Various Artists - A Orillas Del Magdelena LP (Domino Sound) [024] $12.00
Call and response wailing, percussionists that play a measure then disappear, backwards accordions and a persistent, loping bassline comprise some of the elements that make up the Cumbia. Born on the banks of the Magdalena River in coastal Colombia, this infectious music represents a marriage of African, Spanish, and Indigenous influences. ANTONIO FUENTES began recording Colombia's music in 1934, founding his country's first record label, Discos Fuentes. These twelve gems-released between the mid-1950s and the mid-70's-are lovingly selected from the Discos Fuentes catalogue. Includes tracks by ANDRES LANDERO, LOS CORRALEROS DE MAJAGUAL and NAFER DURAN amongst others. Packaged in Stoughton tip-on sleeves. Original pressing of 1,800. Licensed from Discos Fuentes Colombia.

Various Artists - Porno Groove - The Sound Of '70s Adult Films LP (Secret Stash) [SSRLP265] $18.25
Secret Stash Records and Fantasy Productions have teamed up to bring you the definitive Porno Groove collection. Fantasy (not to be confused with the infamous Fantasy Records) was one of the top producers of adult entertainment throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. When SAL ROSEN, the company's founder and CEO passed away in 1985, much of its intellectual property was tied up in legal battles. Eventually, Rosen's oldest son, MORT secured control of his father's work. To date Mort Rosen has not reissued any of the Fantasy catalog. In an effort to preserve the value of the content, he has made a conscious effort to remove all of their products from the market place to "starve the market." He even shut down Fantasyproductions.com recently while a new branding and web presence strategy are being devised. In the fall of 2008, he discovered a massive collection of original soundtrack master tapes for the company's biggest films. Along with popular themes and timeless classics, he also discovered 30 reels of never before released music. Porno Groove: The Sound of '70s Adult Films is a collection of music from Fantasy's incredibly deep soundtrack library. This release will be the first piece of Fantasy product commercially released in almost two decades. Rosen hopes to use this as a way to reintroduce the company to the world while he plans his next move and signs major talent once again.

Various Artists - D-Funk - Funk, Disco & Boogie Grooves From Germany 1972-2002 2xLP (Marina) [MA074LP] $17.25

Various Artists - Tumbélé! Biguine, Afro & Latin Sounds 2xLP (Soundway) [SNDW017LP] $19.75
...From The French Caribbean, 1963-74.

Various Artists - Panama!3 - Calypso Panameno, Guajira Jazz.. 2xLP (Soundway) [SNDW018LP] $19.75
...& Cumbia Típica On The Isthmus 1960-75.
