Anodize is very pleased to present the final captivating volume in Mick Chillage’s stellar “Pixels” series. nIn completing this trilogy, it’s obvious upon listening to this latest longform work that Mr. Chillage can hold his own as one of the contemporary masters of modern ambient electronica. Across a now dizzying catalog of releases, both solo & in collaboration with many like-minded colleagues, Mick has demonstrated an almost uncanny way with knob, slider, potentiometer, sequencer, trackpad, and mouse. But the device through which he works his alchemy is irrelevant; it’s always the talent behind the tool, and Mick’s cantilevered soundscapes never fail to engage the imagination. “Pixels III” is no exception. From twilight reverie to predawn ecstasy, shadow to substance, the good Mr. Chillage has devised an dense world of sound that is as colorfully navigable as those augured by such noted antecedents as Mssrs. Eno, Namlook, Mixmaster Morris and a small gaggle of others. Fine company to keep indeed, but no second, moment, or texture goes wasted; this is a broad artistic statement to not only treasure but to revisit time and again.credits
Machine River
Not only is Robin Storey (Rapoon) a prolific solo artist, he also collaborates with musicians from around the world. He has already worked with Mykel Boys, Wyrm, Pas Musique, Kinder Atom, Cisfinitum and Pacific 231. This time he has teamed up with Shaun Sandor (Promute) to create eight haunting tracks. The CD is packaged in an ecopak sleeve and is strictly limited to 500 copies. The cover is based on paintings by Sandor’s daughter.
Fall of Drums
After various archive releases and new albums on other labels, Rapoon presents a carefully woven new masterpiece, Fall of Drums. The new Rapoon album marks his return not only to the analogue electronics territories, but also to ethnic rhythms which he was known for in the very early days of his solo project. We are back to Middle Eastern territories, to deserts, opium hallucinations and ghosts whispering in the sand. Four long hypnotic tracks of staggering beauty take us on an hour-long journey into the subconsciousness. The CD is packaged in a gatefold sleeve in the vein of Japanese-style vinyl replica and is strictly limited to 500 copies.
To West and Blue
To West and Blue is Rapoon’s 50th album and 5th for Polish label Zoharum. The album consists of seven long, slowly evolving tracks that appeal to the subconscious, gradually growing on you until youâre thoroughly captivated by their haunting beauty. But thereâs an underlying uneasiness, and a sort of clash between reality and a ghost world, or perhaps a world long lost. With choral voices hidden beneath layers of treated sounds, âTo West and Blueâ is a stand-out album among Rapoon numerous releases.Robin Storey talks about this album: These pieces are about the area I grew up in in the UK. A peninsula of land which stuck out into the Solway Firth. Surrounded by the sea when the tide was in and surrounded by endless mudflats when the tide was out. When the water covered the ground the line between the sea and the sky was almost non-existent. A diaphanous boundary. The sea came in from the West where the huge skies hung without end in a vault of blue. The CD is housed in gatefold sleeve in the vein of Japanese-style vinyl replica and is strictly limited to 500 copies.

Pixels II
Quietly arresting second chapter in the Pixels series by Mick Chillage. Like the subtlest works by Eno, this one unfolds slowly as its myriad sounds creep up on you.
Mu20 (20th Anniversary Compilation)
Planet Mu is a label that has always survived on its own very independent terms. For 20 years it’s existed both on the fringes and in the centre of emerging electronic music, from IDM and breakcore to dubstep and grime and lately to footwork, which it took a chance on, opening it up to the world through the two Bangs & Works compilations. It also has a strong history of connecting the dots in between those genres by supporting idiosyncratic artists, from label stalwart Venetian Snares to Kuedo, Machinedrum, Boxcutter, Vex’d, Falty DL, Luke Vibert, Ital, Jlin and Mr. Mitch to name just a few.Run by Mike Paradinas, who under the name -Ziq was one of the first wave of producers pushing the musical envelope in the wake of house and techno’s initial burst of inspiration, Planet Mu is an established engine of creativity and enquiry, with one foot in the pop world, and a sense of fun that never lets its experimentation disappear into exclusivity and snobbery. To celebrate their 20th Anniversary, Planet Mu have organised a 50-track, triple CD compilation of both old and new unreleased tracks and remixes packaged in a deluxe dvd-style boxset complete with a 100 page book charting the history of the label, with insight from artists and staff, written by electronic music writer Rory Gibb. The music on CDs one and two is mainly from the current decade, with contributions from Kuedo, Machinedrum, John Wizards, Ital Tek, Remarc, Boxcutter, RP Boo, John T. Gast, Jlin and new signing Herva to name but a few. They’re colourful, broad and adventurous rides across the roster that will impress and excite any fan of electronic music and are a strong reminder of the consistent quality and broad mindedness of the label too.CD three features more of the older guard, dipping back into the roster from the late nineties and early 2000s with a range of noisier, knottier contributions from artists including Jega, Neil Landstrumm, Speedy J, Shitmat, Leafcutter John, Hellfish, Datach’i and Hrvatski, it’s the perfect compilation for hardcore fans and a brilliant and friendly introduction to the label for curious newcomers too.

Solstov
Pjusk return with perhaps their boldest and most focused album yet. Solstøv is an album made almost entirely from the sound of the trumpet (performed by KÃ¥re Nymark jr), both natural and processed. Pjusk explored it not only as the delicate acoustic instrument that it is but as a generator of tone and nuanced source material. 12k’s Taylor Deupree was invited to provide sonic manipulations of the trumpet with the sound design system Kyma transforming it into delicately strange passages and tones.
Solstøv’s instrumental approach allowed the duo to focus and dig incredibly deep into the harmonic world they were creating. Playing off ideas of the macro and the micro, from the universe above to the earth below our feet (so beautifully realized in the cover painting by Marianne Morild)Pjusk was able to firmly command their characteristic glacial sound, yet approach it from an entirely different musical starting point. The duo’s massive soundscapes are punctuated with low, churning rhythms, sparkling and fractured textural fragments all accented and wrapped in harmonic movements of the trumpet and its ghosts.
dwell_tevvel_structure
Long time friend and German master of sound Uwe Zahn releases this beautiful Arovane album on …txt. Uwe describes dwell tevvel structure: My goal was to use this techniques to build up musical structures and to go deep into particles of sound. My experimentation and research led me to drone structures, clouds of resonating tones and dense, complex spectres. For this album I’ve created a couple of so called ‘structures’, 20-40 minute audio tracks using granular synthesis technique. I arrange the structures in a larger composition. I took audio samples out of it to granulize again and repeat this process to achieve a microscopic level of sound.
Arovane has released his previous albums on City Centre Offices, DIN and Vertical Form. He is currently working on albums with our dear friend Porya Hatami and Nacht Plank. Buy into this beautiful and haunting sound and you won’t be disappointed. Limited to 150 glass mastered CDs.
