4Voice

Due to public demand we finally release a reissue of the most successful dance project on FAX. The “4Voice” project was the start of the melodic hardtrance style which inspired a lot of DJs and musicians. Countless cover versions including “Escape” of Kay-Cee were created from the 1993 Clubhit “Eternal Spirit”. On this CD you find a combination of all “4Voice” vinyl releases from the first until the fifth series including some really beautiful Chill-out Tracks as well.

Zero Point Crossings

The one constant that has always set the music of Steve Stoll apart from other producers is the complete absence of overdubbed parts. All of Stoll’s tracks are recorded in one take, run the sequencer, grab hold of the mixer and hold on tight, no studio post production or layering are present, just the emotion of the moment. True electronic minimalism with the essence of improvisation from one of the creators of the style of electronica we call techno. Steve Stoll about “Zero Point Crossings”: “Conceptual point of origin: Tokyo, Japan. Zero points where waves cross cancel and emerge again, crossing points of harmonic vibration, waves of people and sound crossing each other in sympathetic vibration, finding a loops perfect point.”

Virtual Vices V

2 CD (55.22 min each)
CD1: DTS 5.1 Music Disc
CD2:Stereo CD Version

Mono was nice…Stereo “High Fidelity” was sufficient for about 50 years…and well…now there is time for an “Upgrade”. DTS 5.1 Digital Surround Sound offers six channels and the atmospheric, deep and imaginative music of FAX starts to come alive like never before. FAX music is about deep and soulful imagination…we don’t want to spoil the private inner journey of the listener. For this reason there will not be a DVD from FAX as this would not coincide with the label’s philosophy. For compatibility reasons (to listen to the music in the car or at your friend’s or if you don’t own a DTS capable 5.1 Surround System) we included a Stereo CD version in the double CD-pack.

Virtual Vices V is a CD that contains some surprises…of course in the fashion of Ambient-Jazz-Rock fusion. This time Wolfram digs deeper into jazzy E-Piano and percussions, Pete rediscovered his Gibson Jazz Guitar from the 1950s and his daughter Fabia is singing.

Limited to 500 copies.

Advanced Indigo

Russia’s Electronic Music formation surprise us with their fresh Ethno Chill sound. As the first and best chill-out group of their country whose last release on FAX even featured Brian Eno fills the listener with enthusiasm. A fresh combination of oriental instrumentation combined with chill-out beats that bear no dogma, no superficial “cut’n’click” hunting. Everything sounds warm, logical and full of Russian soul. A perfect addition to the team of Valery Alakhov and Igr. Ver is the Sitar, Flute and Duduk instruentalist S. Gasanov whose lush and soulful melodic lines communicate with the synths, beats and samples of Valery and Igr just perfectly.

Outland 2

From a voyage to Africa Bill Laswell brought with him two things: Some DATs full with material for an Ethnic oriented collaboration and – a *cold*. After a day with Bill in the studio coughing his way through the recording sessions Pete felt that he had the cold as well…a strange virus and nobody was safe from it…within days the whole FAX environment had a cold and so the whole production process was slowed down. This influenced this Electronic Sonata as there was automatically “more time” to re-listen to the elements being used and FABiA Kuhlmann had her recording debut with a nadhaswaram intro. This virus was special… in the evening you felt like Dark Ambient at 0.5 BPM and in the morning nothing could be energetic enough…a quite different and vivid music found its way to the CD. African and Indian music on and off…beats on and off…monochrome soundscapes…quite a virus…
